The DuPont Registry of Fine Homes describes Puertocito Point as, 'Undoubtedly one of Costa Rica's premier properties with an over the water feel unavailable virtually anywhere else in this beautiful and diverse country.'
Puertocito Point can be privately reserved as a 2 to 4 suite vacation rental with occupancy up to 10.
Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, you will find the Main Villa with unobstructed 180 degree panoramic ocean views. The Villa has two King Suites and a private sun deck and pool. A stones throw away you will find two suites in the Guest Cottage with private ocean view decks and full baths.
This private Estate is set on 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, surrounded by lush rain forest and mountains. The property is bounded on all sides by protected nature reserves with abundant wildlife.
Featuring friendly and experienced local management, the Point is a special destination, one you won't forget.
More About the Property: Puertocito Point is built as close to the Pacific Ocean as allowed under Costa Rica's strict environmental laws: 50 meters from the high tide mark. From the Main Villa atop a cliff, you will find jaw-dropping unobstructed 180 degree Pacific Ocean views. The Villa's twelve acres are sandwiched between protected green zones to the north and south with a dramatic backdrop of first ridge mountains and a combination of primary and secondary rain forest. It's a unique setting that delivers the scenic beauty and wildlife you expect from Costa Rica. Geographically, we are located in Costa Rica's more tropical and much less developed Southern Zone, making this an ideal place to experience the country's natural splendor. Despite its privacy and tranquility, Puertocito Point is just a minute from the Coastal Highway and a few minutes drive from the towns of Dominical and Uvita with a variety of amenities, including restaurants, shops, groceries, banks, etc.
For swimming and boogie boarding or surfing we recommend a two minute drive to Puerto Nuevo, a virtually private beach. Two boogie boards are on the house!
The Main Villa is comprised of a Master Suite with a California King bed and a Junior Suite with a king bed, each with its own full bath. There is also a half bath off the Great Room. Bedrooms are air conditioned, common areas are not but have large ceiling fans.
The master suite also features a Tower Room up the stairs from the bedroom with great views of the pool and ocean below. A great place to do yoga, meditate, or just enjoy the view.
With a brand new (August 2014) NetSys dedicated high-speed internet service, our fast WiFi is great for those who need to stay connected to family, friends, and/or businesses during their stay. Those with GSM phones will also enjoy strong cell phone reception, including 3G data access for browsing and email.
The Point's abundant wildlife gives guests the real experience of being in a tropical rain forest without trekking all the way to Manuel Antonio. Birders and nature photographers will not be disappointed by the property's incredible biodiversity.
The property overall has benefited tremendously from a continuous capital improvement program started in 2010 and continuing through 2014 with $50,000 of renovations to the property in the past two years. The program has completed numerous upgrades to the villas, including new roof, new windows, new pool and sun decks, new electrical lines, new water lines, fresh paint, new lighting fixtures, new master shower, upgraded Internet service, new TV, and much more.
Guest Cottage: In The Guest Cottage there is an upper King Suite and a lower Queen Suite, both with a full private tiled bath and a private furnished deck with yet another lovely ocean view. All this less than a stones throw from the Main Villa. Bedrooms are air conditioned.
Puertocito Point is very close to a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, banking and any other services you may need. There is a doctor, a pharmacist and dentist located right in Dominical, all speak English.
Your local property managers are available during your stay to offer advice on various local activities and address any service needs at the property.
Your stay at Puertocito Point will be a once in a lifetime experience, unless, of course, you return next year!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please contact us regarding availability. We maintain a separate reservation calendar from this site.

Beautiful spot. Lots to do: horseback riding, zip lining, surfing, swimming. Kitchen could use some updating...we could never figure out how to use the oven...but the hotel next door has fabulous food. Central part of house has no ac and the afternoons are very hot. The grandparents retreated to the beautiful air-conditioned casita for a nap during those hours. The living area could use better fans. We would happily return.

We so enjoyed our stay. Indra was most helpful with booking, directions, and scheduling extra activities for us. The location was just behind the Cuna de Angel hotel with a great view over the ocean with the ability to see the sunrise and sunset over the ocean every day!
It was so nice to have maid service twice the week we were there..

Took my niece and nephews for a few days. House is a little older and so things are not "perfect" however the house is GREAT and Gary was awesome to work with. Highly recommend this house.

Sweet paradise
Turning into the driveway we were met with a treetop welcome - a family of spider monkeys! Our 3 year old was squealing with excitement.
A dirt track led us to our haven, approaching the villa we had entered an Oasis, our own private Idaho.
Gary was there to greet us and show us around. He’d also organised some groceries for us. First impressions; the villa is immaculate and the view is to die for, ocean as far as the eye can see. Equipped with sliding glass doors the entire front of the house opens up leading you to a beautiful decking area including a ‘floating’ deck overlooking the ocean. With a selection of outdoor couches and a hammock to relax in, you won’t be stuck for places to chill. As if that wasn’t heavenly enough the steps lead us down to a private pool with its own vista deck, complete with sunloungers and chairs. Spend enough time swimming and you’ll see plenty of the local wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot monkeys, toucans, kinkajou, vultures and eagles. The tranquility is immense, each outlook offering its own unique perspective on this beautiful place.
The kitchen is well equipped and each of the two bedrooms in the main house has its own private bathroom. There’s a big dining table comfortably seating 10 people. The separate casita is a 30 second walk & has its own impressive sun decks overlooking the jungle, inside there are two en-suite bedrooms and the upstairs also has a kitchen.
In the main house there is a laundry, a dishwasher, air conditioning, a gas BBQ - all of the home comforts to make your stay more relaxing, with a maid service included to change your beds and clean the place, a couple of times a week.
I cannot recommend this villa enough, you will be impressed and delighted!
One tip, if you’re asking for groceries to be there on your arrival be aware that asking for stuff you’d usually get at home could come with a hefty import price tag. It’s reasonably well priced to eat in Costa Rica if you stick to locally produced items.
I also thought the maid was coming every other day but she only came once during our visit. Perhaps I misunderstood.

Wow, just Wow.
Wonderful property inside and out. The main house and cabana can comfortably house 4 couples or 2 large families. Great pool and deck areas. Seclusion but the best views and close to amenities. I recommend it.

A slice of heaven!
Absolutely loved this place! The views are absolutely breathtaking (pictures don’t do justice). Great proximity to waterfalls, beaches and wonderful food in Dominical. Our host, Gary, was quick to respond. Can’t imagine a better experience - it was truly a slice of heaven!

Absolutely beautiful!!
We had a great vacation at Casa Puertocito. This house is amazing with beautiful views and very comfortable. A nice place to "come home" to after a day out and about exploring the richness of the area. We were a group of 8 (2 adults & 2 kids) x2 and there was tons of space for us to be together and do our own thing without getting in each other's way. The main house was perfect for all of use to hangout in during the day and at night, one family slept in the main space and the other family used the "casita" which was about a 1 minute walk away. Casita had it's own spectacular view so no one missed waking up to the stunning landscapes and ocean views. We had one minor issue with the water one night but our host Gary got immediately on it and had someone drive out to the house within minutes of us reporting it so essentially it was a non-issue. Gary was super friendly and accommodating. Our housekeeper Gaby was so nice as well, just a pleasure to meet her and added that sense of being in a hotel.
All in all, Costa Rica is a marvelous place and we will definitely be returning. I can recommend this house 110% to make the experience just so much better.

Great location...awesome house
We stayed at Puertocito Point with 3 adults and 3 kids, aged 5, 7 and 9. Halfway between Dominical and Uvita was a great location for exploring both of those areas. Surfing in Dominical on one day and exploring the beaches and waterfalls of Uvita the next. The house and casita had more than enough room for the six of us. We spent a lot of time at the pool in the afternoons, watching the birds and listening to the ocean down below. We had an iguana and a coatimundi visit us by the pool. Gary arranged a private chef for us one night. The food was great and it was great not having the leave the house or cook, serve and clean up dinner. The house was clean and everything was in perfect working order. Can’t wait to go back!

Take the good with the bad
Our family took our first trip to beautiful Costa Rica. Puertocito Point grounds were beautifully manicured. The views were breathtaking and wildlife outside the door made our trip a memorable experience. The pool was fantastic and overlooked the ocean. The house is close to Uvita, Dominical, and Manuel Antonio National Park, and Quepos. The managers were attentive to our needs and went above and beyond. We hired a chef for two meals two different days we were there and literally had some of the best meals we have ever had. Our host helped set up excursions for us. This was helpful, however cost us an extra 20% had we booked it ourselves. Our only draw back was there is a gap under the glass doors across the front of the house which allowed lots of geckos and insects. The geckos did not bother us but contending with cleaning up excrement made us weary. There is air condition in the bedrooms but not the main living space. There are two bedrooms in two different houses. This was not a problem for us because our sons are grown men but for those with younger children it is something to consider. Overall a good stay. The upside to this rental is definitely the outside components.

Stunning place, totally recommended
We recently stayed here for a quick family holiday, it was a short stay of 4 nights but we enjoy every minute of it... the house is great, the area is super nice but the view and breathtaking and brings so much peace to you that is just something you can experience by being there... the host Alejandro was very helpful with everything and was always available...
There were only two safety things we advised to Alejandro since we had a couple of accidents, so hopefully they can make the enhancement to the property and make it safe for everyone.

Incredible views, great interior, well stocked.
A group of 10 of us stayed here, and had an awesome time. Kim was super helpful and courteous, the views were unreal, and the overall experience was awesome. There are mango trees that you can pick some fresh mangos from, and you are pretty much in the jungle, so wildlife sightings were common (note that does include some large insects). We went for Memorial day, so the start of the rainy season, but most days were sunny up until about 3:00 pm. They don't observe daylight savings in Costa Rica, so the sun is high in the sky pretty early, which is great. Overall, awesome experience.

Heaven on Earth!
We loved our stay at this beautiful home. We described it to our friends as a "rustic castle." A few updates were needed, but the new property manager is on top of them. Very private and secluded and we felt surrounded by nature and ocean. The view absolutely cannot be beat. Very open concept and the additional guesthouse gave our teenagers the privacy and space that was a real bonus. We hope to be lucky enough to get back to Costa Rica again, and, if so, this is definitely where we will stay!

Sun, water, wildlife and privacy!!
If you are looking for a privacy, in tropical nature with the sun, with the sea, a private pool and a dose of luxury this is an awesome property. This property is beautiful, a private pool and 2 decks over looking the ocean. This doesn't capture our experience of this property. So here are some of the experiences we had. Sitting in the pool, drinking coconut water we'd bought from the fruit stand just down the road, looking at the capuchin monkeys in the trees around us. Hearing the echoing deep booms of howler monkeys in the afternoon. Having lunch on the private deck (with fresh grilled food) with the sun. Seeing humming birds every morning in the flowers outside the kitchen window or larger birds drying their wings. The view is nothing but ocean from the back of the house, and you have complete privacy on the estate. Toucans in the trees. Nearby are 2 grocery stores, lots of restaurants plus 3 incredible Gluten free restaurants nearby ( 2 luxury Cuna de Angel, La Citrus and one casual - Flutterby). Down in Utica we did our first scuba. The staff who met us at the house were exceptional and answered any little question we had. About 45 minutes away in Manuel Antonio park to see more wildlife but you don't really need to do that except for sloths. One night we had the chef option recommended by the agency - he came to the house and made the best meal that we've literally ever had! For us this was a magical experience. The only caution I have is that this is a jungle house, and it puts you in the wildlife, so you might occasionally jump at animal noises until you figure out what it is! :)

Beautiful property but villa & guest house in major need of renovation
We arrived at Puertocito Point in the late evening and we were awed. We woke up in the morning to the sound of the howlers & Toucans and a much better look at the property. We met with the Howler monkeys on a daily basis. Morning Toucans in the trees, friendly vultures and daily fly bys of pelicans made each day an adventure.
The Villa itself was very disappointing. Extremely run down and dirty. Kitchen was stocked with salt & pepper; Coffee makers were disgusting. Bathrooms lacked shampoos & hairdryer, were dirty and there were issues with shower drainage. Deck around house is grave condition. Rotted and dangerous in areas. You had to wear shoes at all time as you could cut your feet on rusted screws protruding from the rotted floor boards. Outdoor seating on main deck was old, broken and inadequate.
Pool was fabulous but lacked adequate seating for 8 people.
Lightening to the guest house from the main villa was not working, but the owners did leave a little flashlight.
Guest house was extremely dirty. Bathrooms showers do not drain properly and we had issues with the toilets. Outdoor decks are not usable. No umbrella for the outdoor table. Seating broken.
Linens were old, worn out and stained.
We have rented villas in this area in the past and were shocked at the condition of Puertocito Point Villa based on location and price point.
We would not recommend this villa especially the "guest house".

Where the jungle meets the ocean, paradise!
We absolutely loved our stay at Puertocito Point. What a fantastic property! Being able to spend 10 days in the jungle overlooking the ocean was quite an experience. We didn’t realize how much concrete and people there are where we live so we really enjoyed the solitude. The house is quite impressive and we loved the indoor/outdoor living. The pool was really great to have and we enjoyed it every day. The separate apartment/guest cottage was really nice – we have older teenagers and they had their own space in the evenings to watch movies and chat while us older folks turned in early. The house was completely equipped with everything we needed. I also want to comment on the property manager, Adriano. He was very attentive and always available on the rare occasion we needed him. Dominical is a wonderful place and Puertocito Point was everything we’d hoped it would be and more.

Amazing location gorgeous views perfect stay
We awoke every morning to either Howler Monkeys or white faced monkeys in our backyard.
Tucans serenaded us every afternoon , and vultures greeted us through out the day on the back deck. We had frequent visits from crabs who loved to see what we were up to and even had humming birds that would fly into the living room. We will never forget this vacation. The house is well appointed with all the things we needed and very comfortable. If you like to cook everything is available however there is a five star hotel less than a five minute walk from the house ( Cuna Del Angel ) and the staff and food are wonderful. We are there daily. Location is perfect and there are so many things to do nearby.
We will be back!!!!

We stayed here 2nd week of Feb/11 and had a great stay. There were 6 of us staying here, 4 in the main villa and 2 in the casita. Our first comments are that the pictures do not do any justice whatsoever. As we first walked in to "The Edge" on a sunny Sunday afternoon our jaws dropped. The scenery was outstanding to say the least. From the bird watching platform you could actually look down at the pelicans flying by (you're about 150 ft above sea level) and watch the many monkeys on the trees below the villa. Nearby restaurants and soda's including the Cuna Del Angel are incredible. Check out the Jolly Roger across the road and 2km up the hill, great burgers, thin crust pizza and wings for sure. Place was clean on arrival. DO NOT leave anything in cupboards or on counter tops if you leave in the evening, critters will be in to them for sure, ahhh - nature! John and Amanda are very knowledgable and helpful with any requests. Best ziplining is south of Dominical in Osa. Beds were comfortable, particularly in main villa. While we had read about road problems from Quepos south we had no issues. Travel time from San Jose to "The Edge" is ballpark 3 hours (watch your speed as cops still want your cash for speeding). I hope "The Edge" will be available in the years to come as we definitely will be back. John and Amanda are amazing hosts.....

I am a former radio talk show host, whose show aired out of Phoenix for years and streamed worldwide. My show was about "True Love".... the most noble quest there is.
The moment I saw "The Edge" I knew that it was one of God's most exquisite and romantic secrets of this Universe.
What could possibly be more alluring than this beautifully magical villa nestled in a 12 acre jungle estate where the rainforest 'kisses' the ocean and the melodic sounds of the surf mixed with the exotic nights sounds of nature's most precious creatures lull you to sleep as if in a fairy tale.
The fact that The Edge is located in Dominical is a huge bonus because you are so close to some of the most beautiful and exotic beaches in the world, as well as close to where all the very special activities take place, such as Kayaking, Zip-lining, Surfing, Whitewater Rafting, Riding horseback to the Waterfalls, Snorkeling and Scuba Diving, Exotic National Parks and Zoos, Hiking and too many more to mention. This is where it all happens! And all in the most ecological and bio-diverse natural settings one could ever possibly imagine. It is simply magical! There are no other words to describe the beauty that surrounds The Edge and Dominical!
I cannot thank Amanda enough for all of her wonderful patience and communication with me in providing the necessary information to arrange a "True Love" vacation at The Edge .... of Paradise!

There’s only one word to describe "The Edge"----dramatic! My husband and I, our "kids" and their "significant others” arrived late at night after an action--packed drive from Monteverde involving an abandoned rental car with a failed transmission. We were tired, stressed and a little "vacationed-out." When we pulled up in our second car overloaded with legs and luggage and saw the welcoming lights of “The Edge” against the darkness of the jungle, we heaved a sigh of relief. We were home. The house is magnificent with remarkable handcrafted wood, tile and ironwork, sophisticated decor, excellent furnishings and all the amenities. It has a unique multi-leveled layout that gives couples complete privacy while providing huge shared living spaces. It’s perfect for grown-up families who want to still speak to each other after vacation. The house is designed to embrace the outside and is completely open to the wraparound decks with lovely furniture for slothful relaxation. The view is nothing less than remarkable. You’re literally perched over the edge of the ocean. We stayed during the rainy season for which we have no regrets because the dramatic storms just added to the experience. Plus, we "owned" every place we went. More mud, but no crowds. We snorkeled at Cano Island with great fish and whale sightings. We surfed in Dominical, but the waves were too strong. Try the smaller beaches nearby. Manual Antonio is beautiful, especially from the seat of a mud-covered ATV! A few went canyoning with Quepo Canyoning and pronounced it the "best activity EVER." But I confess that a lot of time was spent kickin' back at “The Edge” because it was so unique. We got local foods and cooked in just to enjoy the place. One night we hired a local chef from Kukula restaurant to prepare us a wonderful fresh fish meal. On another we went for an impromptu dinner at nearby Jolly Roger, which was one of the most fun evenings of the trip. Tip: get BOTH burgers and wings!
But the greatest asset of “The Edge” is the owner, John. We tragically lost a valuable camera with 10 days’ of photos while ATVing through rough jungle trails. A dark end to an otherwise brilliant trip. But a few days later, John called that the camera had been found. He personally negotiated its return, spent an afternoon retrieving it and shipped it home. That’s the real reason staying at the “The Edge” was so dramatic. What an ending. Our deepest THANKS to John for going so far beyond the call of duty.

Gorgeous views everywhere you look of the jungle meeting the sea and sky make time at the Edge truly blissful. We used the Edge to explore the local area beaches, but it was extremely inviting to return and kick back in the great room, pool, and decks surrounded by that view. Great family getaway. Extremely accessible. Would recommend for anyone. Owners were very accommodating and hospitable, meeting our every need.

The setting is incredible. The views of the ocean are wonderful but the house is in need of some attention. While we were there we had problems with the refrigerator not cooling, the internet, the electrical, the clothes dryer, and the umbrella which provides the only needed shade at the pool area disintegrated.
It was quite hot and the only a/c is in the two bedrooms. We were surprised that there were no ceiling fans so when there was no breeze it was pretty uncomfortable.
They have intermittent internet service but the wireless router was locked away up in an office at the far end of the house so the only service that we got was in the master bedroom. Not great if you're travelling with two couples.
Basics that were supposed to be included like bathroom soap were missing. The kitchen was nearly empty, don't expect things like coffee, sugar, or anything upon your arrival. There were some basic spices and a botlle of water provided.
The towels were old, mismatched and stained. The sheets for some strange reason were flannel in this hot climate. The beds and sofas however were very comfortable.
On the owner's website it said that cleaning was included twice weekly. Before we arrived the owner suggested that we pay for additional cleaning which we did. After we paid we saw that it was supposed to be included and asked the seller about it. She said that it was an error, but she did not refund the money. We paid for two cleanings The cleaner only stayed two hours the first day until we mentioned it and then the cleaner came back to finish.
The power for one part of the house which included the only TV and one bathroom went out while we were there and was out for 5 days until someone figured out where the breaker was.
I realize it sounds like we didn't like The Edge but I'm just trying to be honest. The house is nice but the attention to detail is not really there. I think that the owners could do a better job at maintaining the property and accommodating their guests. If these types of things aren't important to you I'd say that the setting and location are perfect.
We saw monkeys and toucans at the house which was wonderful. The sunsets were perfect. Jennifer who was staying in the guest house watching the property was fantastic! She was kind, knowledgeable about the area, things to do, restaurants, etc.

An absolutely private piece of paradise! It takes your breath away and at the same time is pleasantly overwhelming your senses of sight, sound and smell.
Enjoy the comforts of "home" away from home. Lounge on the large, comfortable deck that wraps 180 degrees around the house, while lulled by the gentle sound of the ocean waves. Awaken to spectacular sunrises and experience unrivaled sunsets. Watch the monkeys swing in the nearby trees, the tucans, parrots and pelicans flying overhead and be dazzled by the brillant colors and smells of the native flora. Take a dip in the privacy of your own pool, as you look out at the Pacific ocean.
Our first and lasting impression was "what else could be better than this" ? However, we did find fabulous restaurants, spa treatments, beaches, waterfalls, hiking and zip-lining through the lush jungles close by.
We found our Xanadu at the Edge and have returned 5 times since!

We thoroughly enjoyed our family reunion at "The Edge" at Puertocito. The Spanish style main house is perched on a peninsula high above the Pacific Ocean. The 180 degree panoramic views, high vaulted living/room, large decks and terraced swimming pool are perfect for entertaining. The spectacular sunsets are mesmerizing, almost beyond belief.
Accommodations are spacious and private. The main house has two separate bedrooms with private baths. The guest cottage about 50 yards away has a private bedroom/bath on thelower level and a living room-kitchen-dining-terrace and bedroom bath on the upper level.
The ever present wildlife is special treat with howler monkeys, toucans and pelicans providing a variety of entertainment. 30 minute hikes to the beach or nearby overlooks generate exciting exercise. The "Cuna de Angel" restaurant is a short walk away and serves gourmet meals with tropical ambiance. Waterfalls, horseback riding, zip-line tours and other attractions are nearby. We loved it!

it was perfect! gorgeous sunrises every morning ( and we saw them with 2 babies under two!) a tucan sighting on a near bye tree and the howler monkeys calling in the distance! a comfortable and adorable place! we loved eating breakfast on the patio and hiking to the nearbye look out point with tots in tow- the main house is great as well- our extended family stayed there- so we also got to take advantage of the wonderful pool and panoramic dinner views! a great time had by all and all ages! enjoy!

The view, the view, the view! Definitely the most SPECTACULAR I've ever seen! It feels like you are floating over the ocean.
It was barefoot elegance, pool, sundecks, huge great room! I saw dolphins from the deck! I couldn't believe how clear I could see them. Extremely clean! I loved it! I will be coming back!
