Lorraine has thought about everything you could need in your home away from home. We didn't need anything.

Coming down for the footy and wanting to stay close by, this house did not disappoint. Had everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable stay and a pleasant stroll to UTAS Stadium was just what we wanted. Avoid booking a hotel room and check this place out. The owner even had the electric blankets going so our beds were toasty warm!

Hawthorne House is just gorgeous. With its internal architecture echoing a bygone era that embodies the gracious character of Launceston, this house is full of old-world charm, complemented by the tasteful incorporation of quirky nostalgia. The owners spared no effort in ensuring that our needs were not only met but surpassed, with meticulous attention to countless delightful details that enhanced the overall charm. Even the little touches of Australian themes were delightful. We were there just after Christmas, and festive additions adorned shelves and mantelpieces, all adding to the experience. In addition to complimentary biscuits and chocolates, so many basics were also provided (sauces, cooking oils, milk, etc) that meant we didn’t need to buy these items and cart them around for the rest of our Tasmania holiday. There is safe parking around the back of the house, and plenty of room to manoeuvre the car around. If you have kids, there is a bedroom full of toys and things for the kids. There are just so many little additions that show how carefully the owners have thought about what people need and want during their holiday. The house is close to the city centre. Just a ten-minute walk away (or 2 minutes by car) is the main stop for the free Tiger buses which will take you on any of three different routes to explore Launceston and its surroundings.
We hope to visit Launceston again in the future, and if we do, we will most definitely be booking Hawthorne House again.

This house is very spacious with ample comfort throughout although the heat didn't work so well in the main bedroom... in general it felt like it was furnished in the 1800s (plus a few nice modern touches) but that added to its charm - we would atay here again and/or recommend it to others...

House was so easy to get to. Once inside it just felt like a warm welcoming hug. Everything you could think of needing was provided. Our 3 year old was overjoyed with his room, the books, games and toys kept him so happy for the few days we were there. There a big back yard and swing set. The laundry was a huge bonus, even having a dryer. It would have to be the best house we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. And will most definitely book again when in the area!! Could not fault at all!!

Great property to stay at. We enjoyed our stay. Central location, though on a busy road. No traffic noise, due to double glazed windows. Very clean and very comfortable. Would stay here again!

Hawthorn house is a gem just outside of the CBD, perfect if you have a hire car, which I would definitely recommend in Launceston. It was exceptionally clean and Lorraine is a lovely host with great communication. I look forward to staying again!

We really enjoyed our three-night stay at Hawthorn House! It was very spacious and very well looked after - it felt like a real home rather than a holiday rental. Lorraine got in touch before we arrived and gave us a few tips for things to do around town, which was a nice personal touch. We managed to get to Cataract Gorge, Hollybank for a treetop adventure and mountain bike riding, Mole Creek caves, Cradle Mountain and of course the amazing Riverbend Park - a cleverly designed playground for younger and older kids.
I would highly recommend this Launceston accommodation to other families.

Heritage charm
Beautiful old building with wooden polished floor throughout. Heaters in rooms which was handy for the chill in the air. Plenty of parking out the back. Minimal noise from the main road out the front. W hospitality plus with the treats left and the milk in the fridge, plus the plunger coffee being available. We had a lively stay and would recommend it to others, we would definitely be staying again.
