beautiful home
Manager was very helpful at all hours. Walking distant to downtown. We had three events and the Manager took care of us.

Loved it!
This is a lovely home with so much character. It is so conveniently close to everything we needed and wanted to see. The bedroom is so quiet and cool with the air conditioning on at night. It is so hot here right now so the lovely dipping pool saved us from too much discomfort. Great restaurants and shopping in this area. I would stay here again and can highly recommend it.

Great place and location
This is an amazing place. Old house with amazing details. Close to downtown and near Mercado Santiago. My favorite place. I’d stay again at Tim’s house. Tim was very responsive and attentive.

Spacious and beautiful!
We were really happy with our stay here. The location was excellent and it was an easy walk to anywhere in centro, including the Grand Plaza, and even the Paseo de Montejo. The rooms were large and tastefully decorated, the pool and patio area were a nice, comfortable place to relax in the middle of the day or evening, and the rooftop patio was a real bonus! I'd definitely recommend it!!

Beautifully Designed Home
We really liked this casa in central Merida. I especially loved the modern and traditional design touches in the home. The living room and bedrooms are especially lovely, and the bathrooms are modern and nice. We made ample use of the pool, the patio, and the rooftop spaces. Our host and the rental company were very helpful and responsive.
The information about the house and the neighborhood provided by our host were very useful. We appreciated the restaurant recommendations and found plenty to do in Merida and the surrounding area. I'd go back and stay here again!

Great House with a Terrific Location with everything close by
We stayed at Casa La Barenda May '18. The house itself is very clean and is decorated with regional themes/items throughout. We loved the rock walls, the tall ceilings and the lighting throughout the house. The completely private pool in the middle of the house was fantastic after the hot Yucatan days (May is pretty warm) and cooler evenings out on the squares. Not to mention the rooftop terrace to lounge after you get out of the pool plunge.
All the major squares are very walkable from the property and there is something organized going on every single night on at least one of these squares. Lots of shops, restaurants, bus depots, ubers, taxis and horse carriages nearby. If you are looking for a two bedroom house with multiple living areas to be immersed into Merida Living, you have found it.

Location, Location, Location!
My friends and I rented this house for a week over the Easter Holiday. It is a lovely interior and great size for 2-4 people sharing. It had everything we needed and the management hosts were very attentive, checking in when needed. The house is on a busy corner but the double glass on the windows worked well to block out noise and we were never kept up or bothered by street noise. The location was fabulous. Only a 5 minute walk to the main square, Santa Lucia square and Santiago Square and just 10 minutes to the Paseo Montejo and Santa Ana square. It made getting around a breeze and going back to the house in the hot afternoons for a swim break perfectly doable. If I had to make any suggestions it would be that there is not as much airflow in the house as there could be due to the glassed in windows. However, there is air conditioning in all rooms and the cost was not high for the week of electricity so all in all a great experience. Thank you very much!

House nicely decorated.

Interesting experience.
We liked the space. We managed in the kitchen fairly well. Good knives!! Colors wonderful. The roof lounging space however needs sun cover.
The washer needs a dryer. Humidity too high to depend on nature.
We had cold showers for 3days before that got straightened. Then the plumbing in second bedroom needs attention. There must be leakage in walls as it’s got mildew odor in there. Not good for ones health.
The main bedroom bathroom needs better design for shower. Looks good but function off. Floor soaked after shower. Hence needed to wash towels and found dryer would make life better.
The basic idea of house great but too many major issues to deal with. Would not likely rent again.
Pepe and rental people lovely.

Very nice and cozy Colonial Home in the Heart of Merida
My family and I spent a week during New Years. Tim's Home was very nice. It has been restored/remodeled with very good taste. The living room is very nice and spacious as is the master bedroom. The second bedroom was also very nice and cozy. The roof terrace was a really great place to spend our evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped, except for an oven, but it has a very spacious toaster oven. It was perfect so that we could cook breakfast and also several dinners. There is also a nice covered patio with an adjacent dipping pool to cool off.
The location of the house is within walking distance to pretty much everything in the center of Merida. There are several parks near by where you can dine out or just have a drink and listen to music (some nights live). The main cathedral is a few blocks away as well as many other important buildings. There are loads of restaurants with many types of cuisine.
Tim was as very good host and I definitely recommend his home!

The house was sparious and the outdoor courtyard with a pool was delightful.
It was in a great location. We could walk to the market, the park and lots of restaurants.
There was a convenience store right across the street that sold just about everything. My only complaints were that the house could have used better lighting in the kitchen and dining room. Also it was on a busy street, and sometimes the traffic was rather loud.. if you are rented for a short time you might not have the need for a clothes dryer, but we were there for a month and it would have been nice.to have one. The management company was super nice and responded quickly when ever I needed something.

A Beautiful Haven in Merida
We loved our stay at Casa La Berendera!
For four of us the house proved spacious, comfortable, and deeply pleasing aesthetically, with great colors, statuary, and decorative touches. We had some delightful evening hours on the roof-top terrace, and enjoyed the dipping pool as a great way to cool off from 90+ daytime temperatures. We never needed to use the AC (which will cost you some $$'s for electricity. The beds (and hammocks!) were really excellent.
From the house, a well-lit walk of 4 or 5 blocks gets you into the lively heart of charming downtown Merida, and made an easy jumping-off point for exploring other areas of the amazing northern Yucatan. When one of our party needed to stay several hours beyond check-out time until her flight out, Tim was extremely generous and accommodating, for which we are very grateful. Highly recommended!

great location, very comfortable casa
The casa is as pretty as the pictures....great location for walking to the Plaza or the library. Management was fine, our 14 days were very enjoyable. The plunge pool helps in the hot mid-day heat....we would return. I recommend this casa. Martin

Cozy, comfortable retreat, very responsive and polite Property Mgmt!
We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Barenda! The property is tastefully decorated; contemporary yet retaining the Mexican Mayan elements that make Merida so special. Everything you need is within walking distance, and with the convenience of Uber (reserved for those rainy afternoons) we didn't miss having a car at all. The little pool was so fun for our kids and to relax after a busy day of walking. The kitchen, although in our opinion too small for meal prep & cooking for a family of 4, offers everything you need if you were to cook and eat in! With the convenience of having Mercado de Santiago and all the restaurants of Santa Lucia within a few blocks, as well as the extremely reasonable prices, we ate out/ordered in for every meal for a fraction of what it would cost in the States. The rooftop terrace was perfect to have a drink and enjoy the cool afternoon breeze. Our only concern was not realizing that the second bedroom was separate from the main structure, accessible through the pool/courtyard area. It does have a lock and key, but with younger kids we wouldn't have been comfortable leaving them there for the night. The 4 of us ended up sharing the main bedroom, and the kids slept great in their own hammock! Our electric bill wasn't outrageous (the equivalent of ~30 USD for 4 nights), but we were very stingy running the AC's only when needed. We would love to come back once our kids are older and they can have their own room! We definitely recommend this property for couples traveling together, or for families with teenage kids. Thank you Tim and your team at Merida Rentals & Property Management!

Beautiful renovated house in the middle of it all
We thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this lovely house. It is very large, plenty of room and well decorated. The kitchen is spacious and had most anything we needed. It was great having a washer to rinse out our sweaty clothes and the separation of the bedrooms was perfect. We didn't use the roof desk at all as it was extremely hot during our stay and the stairway is a bit of a challenge. The heat was an issue (not the owners fault). I had read all the reviews and saw the ones referring to the noise and the addition of the sound windows in all the external street windows. The problem is this creates a space with no air and no air flow. Only the dining room fan had any strength so the bedrooms were very, very hot and not knowing how expensive the air conditioning would be I was afraid to use it. I finally broke down and did and am still not sure what the cost was as I haven't gotten my deposit back. At a cooler time of year and with an unlimited budget you would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay, we did really enjoy it. The disco around the corner is very loud on Friday and Saturday, it didn't bother me but my friend is sensitive to noise like that just so you are aware.

Beautiful home in a great location
My wife and I stayed in the home for several days at the end of August 2016. Was a highly positive experience and would recommend this house to those visiting Merida.
Pros:
Location is great. Three blocks from Santiago park and its church and food stalls and food market. Short walk, maybe 10 minutes or so, to the city's grand plaza and trendy Santa Lucia park area. A bit longer walk to Paseo de Montejo and its attractions, but totally doable. Plenty of restaurants nearby, plenty of on street parking within one block. Convenience store directly across the street for beer and snacks, full grocery store three blocks away in Santiago.
House is lovely. Two large bedrooms with queen beds in each. Full bathroom attached to each bedroom. Washing machine (clothes line drying though). Decent sized splash pool and lounge area on the patio. Relaxing roof deck. Hammocks. Big enough kitchen to cook if you want (we cooked breakfasts each morning) and big dining room table. Nice living room with big couch and tv. Very quiet. Can barely hear the street noise in the living areas, and not at all in the bedrooms at night. Nicely decorated, homey, classy.
Super nice and responsive owner and management. They answered questions quickly and well. House was very clean. Check in and check out simple and easy. Lots of helpful info provided in the welcome booklet.
Cons: It's hot in there. Yes, Merida is always hot no matter where you go, and especially in August, but that said, the house seemed to be maximized for quiet and avoiding street noise which sacrificed ventilation. Many of the windows are not screened, but rather enclosed by plastic so it's difficult to get cross breezes going. That makes the house very hot inside, so you will need to use the a.c., which can be expensive. We got by only using the a.c. at night to sleep, but something to keep in mind. You can escape the heat nicely in the splash pool and on the rooftop patio.
Overall, a very nice place and a great option if you want to stay in a house in the historical central district of Merida.

Beautiful Casa
We stayed around Casa La Barenda for one week and had a great stay! We have been to Merida four times and found for that Casa La Barenda was in a perfect location for us and offer all we needed. Very close to the main square and Santa Lucia. The owner Tim and the management made us feel very welcome....like we were at home! Everything at the casa was even better than the pictures showed and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Merida. Thanks again to Tim and to Javier (Tim's property manager in Merida) for everything and we hope to see them again soon!. Keith & Lauri

Almost didn't stay but glad we did
The house is in good location. Street parking, which wasn't a problem for us. Easy walk to several parks, very nice restaurants and shopping. Also walking distance to several tour companies that will take you to see ruins, cenotes etc. We felt completely comfortable walking in this area any time of night or day. You'll find the Mexican people are extremely friendly in Merida.
The house itself is nice for two couples. Kitchen is small, but with eating out prices being as low as they are, we found that we only used the kitchen for breakfast. Street noise did bother us the first night, but got used to it very quickly. The noise is just something that you'll have in any houses in Merida, as most were built long before paved roads were put in and cars were around.
The only problem that we had was that no one gave us good directions to the house and we were not aware that as you enter and leave different barrios the street numbers start over. I had a general idea from my own research on the internet. After more than an hour of trying to figure out where to go, we ended up calling the owner for directions. We were told that we should have gotten an email with directions and the code for the lock box from the management company. "Just give them a call" is what we were told. Great but we don't even know who the management company is, much less have their phone number. After another hour or so, a representative from the management company met us at a local gas station and escorted us to the house and let us in. The problem was that the management company was never told that we were coming, therefore not ready for us. But they got the house ready very quickly and left us with a nice bottle of wine. The management company was great and really took very good care of us. We'll use the management company directly to book stays in the future.
