The views from the property are wonderful. You are at the end of the lake, so not much "water traffic". My kids and I enjoyed swimming and fishing from the dock. There were plenty of outdoor seats. There were kayaks and a water mat provided as described- which was fun!
The bathrooms were nice and updated. Nice driveway off the main road.
I am nervous to be honest about the "cons", but here we go. I did express these concerns to the property manager as the week went on. The property manager was responsive, but not much can be done about these in short notice.
The downstairs basement smelled VERY strongly of mildew upon arrival. I had a headache within minutes. I was advised to turn on the dehumidifiers, which helped after a few hours. We've been staying in lake homes for over a decade, none have been like that. I bought febreze and carpet powder to help.
The couch downstairs is broken (I saw this mentioned couple years ago in a review, couch should be removed).
The one air conditioner is not enough for the whole house. Granted, we went on probably the hottest week of the summer- but the middle level bedrooms were 76* (we had a thermostat) and too hot. There were fans provided thankfully, but another A/C would be useful on those hot weeks. :) Beds could use padding, unless you like very firm (I had a pad!).
Thank you for having us.

House was filthy and cluttered. Could not open doors or windows missing or broken screens. Bug infested. We left early as it was unlivable. Would not have Ben use the dishes. Used paper plates we bought the whole time. House is nit what the listing shows. Never had a problem wit VRBO but this was an AWFUL experience. Would suggest you not list this for others as is

The house was roomy, well equipped with a gorgeous view. This was the perfect place to get my family all together under one roof to have fun and make great memories! Thank you Wendy!

This home is in a great location on a lake with a beautiful view. The house is large and has the bones to be a great stay BUT.....we came as a group of ten. There is supposed to be enough supplies for 10 people to stay! We came for Thanksgiving, it was cold and there were not enough blankets for every bed! How is that okay? The sofa bed was broken and the mattresses in half of the rooms were uncomfortable with barely enough cushion to cover the springs. The dining room chairs were broken and extremely uncomfortable. Overall the house just needed some attention. I could go on but we enjoyed ourselves and made do. The location was great which was the biggest redeeming factor. The owners need to put some thought into the basic necessities of the home and could make their place a fabulous place to spend the holidays.

We had a wonderful time. The property, the view, the area....all beautiful. Great hiking. We loved the fire pit at the water. We used it every night. We were able to get out on the water in the kayaks. You can't beat October in the Poconos.

The lake house is within a community so there are lots of amenities. There’s lots of hike trails near by and restaurants. The house also has kayaks for on the lake fun a deck and fire pit outside. There’s lots to do and the house is clean with all the appliances you’ll need.

We loved our weekend stay in The Hideout! So much to do on and around the lake, as well as in the community. The home was very clean and well organized. All the guests were more than comfortable and very appreciative of the homeowner renting out their home. Highly recommend to all ages, families, and any who can respect the many lovely neighbors in the area.

Great house location
We stayed 3 18+ biys and two couples in the house 4 days during the week. Wendy was very responsive and che kin and out was a breeze.
The lake us great and in a quiet cove at least during the week.
The house has a well stocked kitchen which is a huge binus that I look for.
It was 90+ degrees all week but in the afternoons in the shade with a breeze ut was manageable. With the ceiling fan and portable ac the living space stayed cool, ut the bedrooms did get warm. The master sweet being a loft made for some great views

Some minor deferred maintainence on the property: fans didn't work and screens missing
They need to address the mildew smell in the basement. The home and property are beautiful. Plenty of beds, and furniture. Even the outside was furnished well with a very nice grill. Having Kayaks, paddleboard, dock, games, ext. available really added to the activities for the whole family. I would highly recommend the property.

Jankech Weekend Review
The property is located in a nice gated community and is located waterfront. The house itself is in need of repair and updated ammentities on the listing. The biggest issue for us was that the downstairs was completely unusable, as the mildew smell was unbearable. There were 4 unoperating dehumidifiers down there. The second issue was that each bathroom had broken holders (toilet paper holder / towel racks) that have been ripped out of the wall by previous guests, but pushed back in. These need to be removed and re-anchored into the wall, as they are hardly functional. Thirdly, amenities list baby gates and a baby monitor. There were no baby gates to be found on the property, and once inquired about, was told that they aren't in the listing. I went back and confirmed that baby gates are in fact listed under amenities. The baby monitor was not functional as well. The air conditioning issue was also not addressed. I specifically asked in May when I booked the property if the A/C and Humidity issues in previous reviews was addressed and repaired and I was assured that they were... well... they weren't. I recieved an apology on my second day about a maintenance man who was unable to get out there to fix the A/C. The days were definitely stuffy in the house and didn't cool down until after 9pm.
Also - there appears to be a bullet hole (.22) in the window above the sink. The screen on the side door is also ripped out.
All in all, I do not want to make it sound like we had a bad time, but luckily for the managers/owners we are an easy going bunch. I can definitely see a more detail oriented family giving problems over these issues, especially if a need for a baby gate. We had a fun time on the property otherwise and the community is well kept. The kids had a blast at the pool and beach. Hopefully this feedback is reviewed and the owner/ property manager can do a deep dive inspection on the property to get it back up to scuff.

Better on Paper
We were fairly let down by the actual experience of the house and bedrooms. What is touted as the master bedroom is actually just an open loft - this made that unusable for either couple as we each had a toddler and it's totally open to below - like toddler could slip through the bannister off the landing open. There was a bedroom in the basement as well but it was completely unusable for sleeping as it was very very musty. The dehumidifiers did nothing.
I was glad I read the reviews beforehand because the listing does NOT make it clear that there is no AC in the house. Combined with the moisture problem in the basement it was unpleasant (we've rented other houses without AC).
The check in process is a pain. You have to fill out multiple other forms, then stop at a rental agency before going to the Hideout to check in at their guest entrance. The owner should really consider just putting a lock code on so people don't have to stop at ReMax in addition to the Hideout entrance.
Overall we would not rent this house again until our children are much older and the moisture problem is dealt with.

Updates needed
No a/c which would have been ok if more ceiling fans and/or fans.( listed 3 window units) loft bedroom was unbearable. Dining chairs were broken, Screens on both doors broken. Need working dehumidifiers in lower level. Perfect location! Loved having pool and beach access. A plus to have a bathroom on each level, enjoyed kayak, paddle board and float. A great house but in need of tlc

Lakehouse trip
We had a really nice stay up on Roaming woods lake in this house. It was a great spot for a nice relaxing family get away. The backyard and dock set up right out back was perfect. Smores and drinks around the fire pit was hard to beat. Also fishing right off the dock out back I was able to get my 5 year old on her first fish, my mom on a fish and 6 different species for myself. We had 4 adults and 2 kids staying in the house and had more than enough room and everyone had a good time. Both our 5 year old and 2 year old loved it and already want to go back. The beach within the community was nice for swimming as well.

Great community and easy lake access.
The house itself is smaller than we anticipated and our party of 6 with a toddler were somewhat cramped. Bathrooms are very small with little to no storage/counter space. They were updated and clean. Furnishings were worn and there was not enough seating for us all to sit together in either living areas. The ground level was very musty. The bedroom on that level contained a bed and a TV tray. The closet was locked and there was no where but the floor to set suitcases. This property does NOT have central air conditioning. There were 3 floor air conditioning units but they were loud when running. We paid for the linen service and were pleased to find thick, plush towels and good quality bed linens. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would rate this house as only ok.

Great location, house needs work
We recently stayed at the Hideout and the location was beautiful. However, the house needed work. Pros: the view of the lake was beautiful, the kitchen and baths were updated, plenty of games were available, nice kayaks and paddle board, and it was nice to have 3 baths.
Cons: There were inoperable smoke detectors, missing light globes, broken sliding screens, missing towel rack, and a broken shade umbrella down by the lake. The worst was there was no A/C! The house was about 85 with the loft staying around 100 degrees! It was brutal! The furnishings in the bedrooms were sparse and the beds were suppose to be queens, but they were all fulls without headboard. The ground floor was very musty. We started the dehumidifiers when we arrived and that helped. However, be prepared to empty them 4-5 times per day.
We had a nice vacation spending time with family, however, the house was not worth the money.

Broken items
Apron arriving we found broken chairs and umbrellas by the dock. Trash cans with large holes in them, broken toilet, a note letting us know the tub does not work, a vacuum that did not work, a broom that in horrible shape is did nothing. We took pictures and notified the office and they said then knew about most of the items. But then two weeks later I was billed for the broken furniture that was broken before we arrived. We left the house cleaner then when we arrived and yet we are being billed so they can update their furniture. The basement is so musty we had to empty the dehumidifier multiple times a day and there was mold spots in the shower. This is not how you get business. I would not suggest going here.

Easter getaway.
I stayed with the family over Easter weekend. It was very enjoyable, and peaceful. We used both the firepit and fireplace. The place is very cozy, and the whole experience was very memorable.

Beautiful Home!
We stayed in this house for a week in November and had a great time with our children (baby through 6 years old)! The house has a beautiful view of of the lake from inside the home and outside. It was November and when we arrived, there was light snow on the ground and wind and by the middle of the week, it was 65 and sunny. We were able to hike, fish off the dock (and catch fish!), and go kayaking with the boat provided. We saw lots of different wildlife (deer and a bald eagle)!. The property owner was extremely responsive when a storm took a branch down onto the deck. She had it removed within hours and had a pie delivered to us from the local farmer's market because of the inconvenience. Overall, we had a wonderful week as a family and hope to come back!

In a neighborhood of very nice lake homes, this was more like a cabin. 1/4 of the light switches did not work, the walls were thin, the windows were very dirty, and the basement was musty. The kitchen area is very small and lacks storage. There was some external damage and the property needs some renovations.Check-in was not what we expected, having to stop at a realty agency and sign documents, review policies, paperwork, and badges. It took 15-20 minutes that we were not planning to have to spend. Then we drove 1/4 mile to the entrance of the "community" and had to go through a further check-in, receiving more instructions and identification to allow us on the property. So many other VRBO properties have just sent an electronic code and said, "Have a great trip." This process made it feel like we were not really welcome. We did not take advantage of any of the programs or amenities offered by the Hideout, as we were there for the lake and the leaves and the quiet. It's not a quiet lake. We enjoyed kayaking and the lake was nice. However, mid-October was a little past peak for the leaves and there are plenty of boats and leaf blowers that broke the peace. I can only imagine what this place is like on the 4th of July. Good hiking was a short 10-15 minute drive away at Varden Recreational Area. We had a good trip, but this place wasn't worth the price.

Awesome Lake Vacation with Family
My group was a total of 10 people. 4 young children ages 3-8 and 6 adults. Everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The house is totally stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. This was our first lake vacation and the setting was ideal. The kids and dads spent hours successfully fishing from the back dock when we were not kayaking with the kids around the lake (ample life Jackets supplied by owner). We spent the nights around the campfire making smores and telling stories. Communication with the owner, Wendy was a breeze. She responds quickly and is so pleasant. She even left extra chocolate in the freezer to be sure that the kids would be able to make smores during our trip (Such a nice touch). Would definitely stay again.

Great Lakefront
We loved being able to walk right to the lake and access the kayaks and paddle board or just sit in the sun. We also enjoyed the house being in the cove which was a bit quieter. Saw some wildlife including a Bald Eagle. Also enjoyed a fire one evening with a nice lake view. House was pretty well stock in the kitchen. We would certainly rent again.

two amazing weeks at the lake!
We stayed here for two weeks with friends (4 adults, 5 kids total) and had a BLAST. the kids spent 7+ hours in the lake everyday swimming, paddling kayaks and the paddle board and playing with the many toys they’ve collected at the house over the years. Great sunset paddles for the adults. Clean, comfortable, great location. Bring your own towels / sheets / paper goods. Kitchen is very stocked otherwise. Thanks for the great trip!
