Frustrating communicating for help when the keypad did not work. There was no instructions where the lock boxes were for alternate access. If the cleaning lady had not been there at 4pm when we arrived to let us in, I am not sure how we would have done. The phone number listed on the refrigerator to call had a voicemail message that she would return calls within 24 hours. It took time and persistence to get a key for the place so we could leave the place unattended. Paid a lot of money for 3 nights. Expected better customer service.

We really liked this property. It was in a lovely location, and well appointed. There were a few quirks that we expected having read previous reviews, and with that in mind, we arrived and were really happy with the home.
Pros: The view and location on the lake is. The layout is unique, but really utilizes the view and floor space. We saw deer, bunnies and a lot of different types of birds from the windows and deck. The attached dock was great for launching paddle boards. Beds were comfy, and there was plenty of extra bedding and towels. Lots of games too.
Cons: There was construction going on directly next to us. Heavy machinery began operations at 8am on 2 mornings. It didn’t look like that was going to be an ongoing thing, so I doubt that it would impact the next occupants, just a bummer for us.
The driveway entrance is difficult to find (look for the Vacasa sign), but after coming and going a couple times it’s no big deal. Pulling out of the driveway is a little sketchy because it’s low visibility and on a little hill/curve, but it is what it is.
The home is older, and some of the appliances reflect this. I’m not sure if the garbage disposal is broken, but we couldn’t find a switch that would work. There is a bit of a funky smell, but I think it’s due to the home being a little older and being in a place that is pretty humid. Again, we went into the rental having read about this, so it wasn’t unexpected, and it wasn’t a bid deal for us.

We loved the house, the location and the swimming access, but who doesn’t provide beach towels or swimming towels at a lake house?
We loved that the kitchen was well stocked for cooking too.

Cute home. Amazing view and location. Great deck for relaxing and nice dock to tie your boat up. Home and deck could use some maintenance and a deep clean. This home could be so much better with a little TLC.

We loved where this house was located. The pictures didn't do it justice. The private dock was great. The house was bigger than we expected which was nice.
The customer service wasnt helpful when I called them. The local representative didn't respond nor return several calls. We didn't have good wifi The entire stay as the house seems to need a new router. The local cable company was very helpful and accommodating despite not having any contact with customer service.
The cleanliness of the house was somewhat decent but the sheets were stained and so were the blankets with what looked like urine. Suggest they replace or use some bleach.
Warning if you have kids, the stairs have a rail that doesn't have any safety bars, so kids can fall very easy. Overall, we did like the house just had some minor complications we had to overlook or deal with.

The Good: Great Lake location. Wonderful views from anywhere in the house with a nice big lake facing deck. Definitely a house designed to entertain. Also, if you like the late 60's/early 70's era architectural vibe and want to relive that time period, this house will do that for you. A very relaxing location and environment!
The Bad: While the furniture and lamps have been updated, the rest of the house could use some freshening up. Things like light switches, light bulbs, door knobs and window security could use some modernizing without compromising the feel of the house. Also, they need to trim the bushes on either side of the driveway leading out onto East Devils Lake Road. There is no way to see in either direction without putting the hood of your vehicle into oncoming traffic.
The Ugly: Other reviews have mentioned a musty smell, and yes, it is there. My wife is sensitive to mildew and molds and this house has at least one of them present somewhere. The main bath shower and lower shower have any number of areas water could be getting in a mildewing. This house definitely has a problem. If you are not sensitive to molds or mildew, you should go nose-blind to the smell in about 15-20 minutes and it probably won't be a issue. If you are, then I cannot recommend renting this house until the problem has been found and fixed.

This property had a beautiful view and nice overall set up for our long weekend stay with friends. Previous reviews mentioned a musty smell which was noticeable but not too bad really.
The main improvement needed is in the overall cleanliness of the house. There were spider webs, dead moths as well as cat litter throughout the house in several areas especially along the walls. The coffee maker had an old filter left in it that had obviously been there long enough to be full of mold. While the location is great I would probably choose something different in the same area based on cleanliness.

This house has a great location – view is amazing and proximity to the rest of the coast is great. We had problems with the complexity of the door code, the television's internet connection and the heat but were willing to overlook that for the setting.

Great views, comfortable beds, clean house. Easy to miss driveway entrance, so recommend going slow when getting close on the map. Some other reviews mention a musty smell, but having stayed in other coastal properties, it’s not much of a surprise in an older coastal home.

We had a nice stay, but the driveway to get out on to the street is Awful and scary. Really need to put up a mirror or cut some trees. And in the house the lower toilet leeks. The TV is a nightmare need better instructions. Also there wasn’t a decent pan to fry an egg. Luckily I brought my own. We did really enjoyed the decks, the docks and the view. Oh one more thing my husband had to fix the kitchen faucet. You might want to take a day for little maintenance. Because it is a really great place to stay

We loved our stay here. The house is adorable, location is wonderful. When we arrived the house was clean and beautifully furnished. There were only two things of note that we noticed.
1. There does appear to be a smell when you walk in - smells musty/something has been damp. It wasn’t so bad though that we didn’t enjoy our time. We just noticed it when we walked in.
2. The TV really should be replaced. It was glitchy and slow. A very old model. It took us a long time to get it to function. While it does work, it was a hassle.
We overall really loved the house and wanted to stay longer. Thank you!

Other than the bed breaking it was a great place

This is the last time I use your service. 3 times in a row, the home I rented was not what it appeared to be on the web site. I should not have had to tolerate the odor of this home during my visit. Nobody from your team reached out to remedy or refund.

Two things regarding the Wi-Fi. One, if Vacasa hadn’t texted it, we wouldn’t have known. It’s not easy to find on the wall. Two, our phones and tablets kept getting disconnected. Otherwise, a beautiful place, and one we’d like to visit again. I’m not sure if it’s possible, but kayaks on site would be a great feature.

As other's have commented, this house is an older property, but that's pretty easy to determine by the online photos. Surprisingly the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, great tv with access to streaming services for family movie night, and if you want a full lake front view....you will get it here!
Now the downside...the driveway to this house is hard to see from the road, very narrow, and due to the speed people drive on windy country roads it isn't the easiest to get in or out of. Also, if you plan on bringing your boat to enjoy the lake I DO NOT recommend bringing it down the driveway, if it is on the larger side you will not be able to get it turned around. We learned the hard way. Other than that, we had a great stay at this house! : )

This house has been beautifully photographed for the Vacasa and VRBO websites. And we had a lovely time staying there. But still -- some very serious disappointments, especially when renting through VRBO and paying the VRBO markup. (I later looked on the Vacasa site directly, and the price would have felt more reasonable had we done it that way.)
The house has a kind of faded glory. So much has not been updated in so long. And that is OK, there was a kind of charm of living in the 1970s, it just wasn't expected from the listing.
The bigger issue was cleanliness. Some of that comes about from just over-hasty changeover - sticky residue of what appeared to be orange juice concentrate in the freezer, numerous (but not all) pots, utensils, flatware and crockery with stains or grease or (even worse) baked-on left over food. We had to really give the kitchen our own clean to feel comfortable there. Sad. But after we did that, it was indeed comfortable. But kind of crummy to spend some hours of your paid vacation to clean stuff that shoudl have been cleaned in the first place.
Beds, sheets, towels -- all that was fine and nicely presented and nicely clean.
BUT THE FLOORS. Oh my goodness, these floors are FILTHY. They have years, decades maybe, of accumulated grime built up on them. If you simply moisten a piece of paper towel and rub anywhere on the floor anywhere in the house, you get dirty grimy results in about two rubs. These floors need to be properly mopped and cleaned perhaps not between every visit, but maybe once a year? And the rugs on the floors are also kind of skeevy. We turned it into a joke so it didn't ruin our vacation, but really? At at that price? Yuck.
Perhaps related, the whole house has a kind of not-properly-cleaned-in-too-long mildewy smell and feel. It needs an overhaul.
Location, views, and general friendly layout vibe were great. We had a good time. But felt a little ripped-off.

Home was everything we needed for the week. Enjoyed watching the fireworks from the deck and being able to dock my waverunner at the house was a plus.

Great accommodation on the lake! Private dock and house full of all the amenities you could imagine. The layout of the house was spacious and it’s very comfortable. Would stay there again.

Our family loved this property. The view from the house is just amazing. The kids loved fishing from the dock and jumping off for a swim. The house, while not new or recently remodeled, was very clean and comfortable. Space wise, it was great for 4 people but would have been cramped for any party larger. Overall, it was a very positive experience and we enjoyed our time at this property.

The perfect stay!
The best thing about this house was an amazing lake view through big picture windows. The house was very clean and well stocked, so it is easy to settle in and relax. It's only about a 7 minute drive to lincoln city so you have easy access to shops, restaurants and the beach but can come back to a quiet and relaxing home.

Beautiful views from all living areas and bedrooms
Really enjoyed our stay. The views from every room in the house are amazing. As mentioned on some reviews, make sure you bring scented candles. The house smells musty when you walk in. Overall the house was very clean when we arrived. The two bubble skylights in the main level bedroom are awesome, right up until it rains at night, then they become to big drums. The bedroom layout is better for a family as you have to travel through one bedroom to get to the next bedroom and the second bathroom. The decks are amazing and afford a fantastic view of the lake. The dock around the boathouse would be fun in warmer weather. It is still a nice place to have your morning coffee even in cooler weather. The listing says there is a fireplace, and there is, but we were unable to find any firewood on the property. If you want a fire, you will have to bring your own wood. Lastly, there was only one key that we found in the lockbox. You have to plan well if people are coming and going at separate times. Overall, I look forward to staying here again.

Great house, amazing view
This house is a gem on Devil's Lake. Vintage charm and great views. Only a few concerns. If you go when there is rain expected, take ear plugs if you're in the master bedroom. It is noisy if you're trying to sleep. This room also smells slightly musty. Other than that, we would definitely come back for another stay.

Comfortable, but over priced
Getting information from the property manager was more difficult than it should have been. Access to the boat house would have been helpful to store lakeside toys etc..

Perfect setting to relax
This property is in a perfect setting on Devils Lake. This house is in a classic split level style. It is very tastefully decorated and is comfortable. My son fished off of the boat house deck. The lake is pretty shallow for that. But he still enjoyed catching Walleye. There are kayaks but we could only find one canoe paddle.
Kitchen and bathrooms are dated but there are functional.
There are lots of birds. If you like birds, bring binoculars.

Nice Stay, A+ location
Property was older, but nice. Beautiful lake view, great location!
Some important things to know:
-LOTS of stairs
-several exit points (which makes it somewhat scary for kids who are prone to wandering)
-stair railing, but no verticals pieces for safety (so once again, kinda dangerous for little kids)
-the water temperature and pressure in the showers was fantastic!
-beds and pillows were not great, but not the worst, comfort wise.
-appliances were older, worked okay
-kitchen fully stocked with bowls, dishes, pans, utensils, etc.
-washer and dryer were great
-neighbor was extremely rude
- shampoo, conditioner, bar soap and makeup wipes were provided
-bathroom had blow dryer and straightener
-plenty of extra bedding and blankets
-lots of games and puzzles
Overall, we feel it was good, but expensive for what it was. The house was a great space for our family to get together this weekend. Lots of places to be together, but also enough space in the house to relax alone at times.

Beautiful home, awesome location
We really enjoyed being on the lake. Gorgeous lakefront views from many windows. Close drive to the beach, although parking seems to be a big issue. Loved the beach 15 minutes north with the big rock!

On the lake
Beautiful view and well set up to enjoy it from decks and inside bedroom and main rooms. We thought we were going to kayak and loved that we could put in right there at the home’s dock. We didn’t actually get into the water but I can tell you that the house is set up nicely for kayaking. We had gale force winds and a cold snap while there so ended up enjoying the view rather than being in it, which was fun in its own way. The kitchen is well appointed, with everything we wanted for cooking, the beds comfy, and the home stocked with games and puzzles.
Perfect.

Lovely lakeside retreat
We rented for a week with our 3 elementary-school aged kids. This house was perfect -- clean and comfortable, with a gorgeous location. It has a nice big kitchen, comfy livingroom furniture and beds, and a great fireplace. Beautiful views, quiet, enough space for everyone, and a short dive to shops, the beach, etc. The decks and dock are beautiful for sitting out on a nice day, and the big easy chairs in the livingroom are fantastic for enjoying the view on a rainy day. We definitely plan to return, and all of us gave it two thumbs up!
The layout of the house work work for a small family traveling with grandparents.
As someone who has traveled a lot with little kids who are not super sleepers, I should note that this maybe wouldn't be a great rental for families with babies or toddlers. None of the bedrooms can be made quiet and dark; one has large skylights, one has no interior door (is open to the stairs/front hall), and one has no curtains on the large windows.

Spending time with our adult children
The home was wonderful, everything was clean and ready to go. Will want to rent this home again. A couple concerns- the toilet in the lower bathroom leaked, and it was very difficult to see traffic when leaving the property.

Amazing view and cozy home
I loved the view of the lake from every room of the house. This home has a wonderful open layout but still feels like a cozy lake cabin. The private dock is an added bonus, bring your paddle-board or Kayak for a fun day on the water!
