We recently enjoyed a stay at this lovely cottage on Lake of Bays, and it truly was a fantastic getaway. The location is absolutely perfect—right on the lake with breathtaking views. The beach area was a hit with the kids; it was clean and well-maintained, providing a great space for them to play and enjoy the water. The dock was nice and well-maintained, making it an ideal place to relax by the lake and catch some rays.
The cottage itself was charming and comfortable and provided a cozy atmosphere. However, the bathroom could use a bit of attention. There were some mold spots, and the shower had a slight leak that could use fixing. Additionally, the floor tiles were starting to lift, which was a bit of a nuisance. Despite these minor issues, the overall stay was enjoyable, and the beautiful surroundings more than made up for the bathroom's shortcomings. If these few details are addressed, this place would be perfect!
One of the highlights was being able to explore the lake with our boat daily—such a wonderful way to experience the natural beauty of the area.
Just a heads-up: the grounds are a bit rocky, which can make navigation tricky in the dark. We recommend bringing a flashlight or, even better, hang some string lights from the trees.
The location and amenities more than made up for the minor shortcomings.

Sheldon is a great guy who made sure we were well taken care of and was quick to responded to all our questions. The views from the cottage from the large table/dining area are absolutely serene. The large windows give a feeling of being one with the beautiful natural landscape. The dock has a spectacular unspoiled view of a forested island, and because of the location between two little bays (on a little peak of the coastline) you can barely notice the neighbours and it’s private. The kitchen is well equipped, there are wooden floors throughout and the place has a warm and inviting energy about it. It is a true cottage in a spectacular location where you can unwind and get away from busy life. If you value an amazing location, close to Huntsville and area, want to spend quality time with family and friends, this is a little gem for you.

Stunning property- unspoiled natural beauty and a classic Muskoka combination of trees, rocks, and water. Lovely views from the cozy, comfortable cottage, which had everything we needed for the week. Great lake for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Small sandy beach was a nice bonus and would be great for little kids. Excellent communication from owner throughout. Overall, a wonderful place, especially if you are looking for a true cottage experience!

I went to the Lake of Bays with my family shortly after the Canadian / US border reopened. We are a family of 5, but we are all adults (Ages 23 and up). While we were very excited about our stay, we were a bit shocked when we walked in, and here’s a few reasons why.
Cons:
No dishwasher
No carpets or rugs
No use of the indoor fireplace
Children’s things / toys exposed in the corner of cabin and outside
Very small and outdated TV (approx. size of a laptop)
Had to bring our own pillows/sheets/comforters - this was a hardship
Dining room table has 2 chairs with backs, the rest is benches only - fine for children, tough for adults
Picnic tables outside unable to use (poor condition)
Outdated furniture / lack of furniture - really not enough seating for the amount of people they quote can stay there
Extremely small bedrooms (only 1 person can fit in bedroom at a time)
Not accessible outside - this was fine for us but beware if you have any older guests
Cobwebs everywhere (clean otherwise)
Cabin is considerably smaller than the pictures appear, would be helpful to have sq footage listed
Pros:
Water cooler
Fully stocked kitchen
Beautiful Views
Nice dock & sandy beach
Nice campfire
Use of canoe and other outdoor activities
Owner very responsive
Enjoyed our time!

Our family loved our stay at Sheldon's place on Lake of Bays. The views were stunning, the dock was perfect for relaxing, swimming or catching small mouth bass, the sandy beach entry was perfect for our small children (2 and 5) to play all afternoon.
The cottage itself was extremely clean and comfortable. It was well stocked with everything you need. The kitchen, dining and living areas had fantastic views of the lake.
We look forward to visiting again soon!

We had a great week at the cottage. The dock gets full sun all day and there’s a small area to walk into the water which would be great for kids. The fire pit is close to the water so you have a beautiful view of the lake fireside.
The cottage was very clean and has a great lay out. The wifi connection was pretty good - I was streaming the Eurocup all week with no problems.
It was so quiet and we didn’t see anyone from the neighbouring cottages. This is a wonderful place to just relax.

We had a lovely time at the Cottage in early June. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed our time immensely. The views were spectacular, a 270 degree view of the water either on the dock or from the deck. And for us so quiet! The BBQ was ready, willing and able to deliver a great outdoor evening cooking and dining experience. For breakfast and lunch the kitchen also delivered. We could have, but didn’t, make use of the paddle boards, canoe or water boat, and instead watched as our neighbours rowed or paddled by in the mornings. We were also joined by a family of ducks and a lone beaver who swam by the dock regularly. Not to be particular but the cottage water system was enjoyably - both hot on demand when needed and cold as well. The space was quaint, yet with all the creature comforts- my wife and I really had a lovely week to ourselves. Our friend joined us for a few days and she raved about the enjoyable break from the City. We “dipped” our toes in the sandy water at the beach but it was colder than we wanted for swimming so that took a pass. What a wonderful get away! A great place for a family, or a couple and a guest or two. Absolutely a 10+. For value and enjoyment! Thanks Sheldon!

Nice piece of property. Cottage was in good shape. Location is pretty spectacular. Minimal lake traffic when we were there (October) Pictures are accurate. No complaints.

My brother and I recently spent three days at Sheldon’s cottage. We travel a lot together and have stayed at many different places. This has now become our favourite!
First of all, the location is idyllic. On the water, surrounded by oaks, maples and beeches in their fall colours. It was a postcard venue.
It rained a lot during our stay so we were inside more than usual. But it was fine. The golden-hued knotty pine walls and ceiling, contrasted with rosewood stained beams, was both striking and warm. We used the large wooden dining table to spread out our maps, books, computers and work material, all the while looking out upon Lake of Bays.
It felt like a five star lodge.
We always bring everything we need, but if we hadn’t, it was to be found in the fully-stocked cupboards. Free drinking/cooking water and moderate use of consumables (if you had forgotten something) was all in the price.
The chairs were comfortable, the sofa was comfortable, the mattresses were comfortable, even the toilet paper dispenser was located in a convenient spot.
No detail was left to chance.
We had a wonderful experience!

My family and I spent the thanksgiving weekend at this cottage and the inside was really nice but landscaping outside was terrible rocks everywhere not suited for small kids or even myself had a hard time just getting to the dock wouldn’t recommend for kids who like to play outdoors ..Sheldon was great to deal with my one complaint would be that I was told there would be fire wood provided and there wasn’t

As every trip, there are pros and cons. We had a great experience anyway!Pros: Located in prime location, 20 mins driving from Huntsville where we really enjoyed restaurants, shopping decorations and groceries. 50 mins from Algonquin Park where we had amazing hikes with the fall colours, really recommended! Close by from Arrowhead and multiple falls, a must see! Really good placement of the cottage with amazing views to the lake. Good relaxing time during sunset. Sandy shoreline to access to the lake, with lots of aquatic equipment provided.Rocky shoreline to have a great bonfire to roast marshmallows and a big pier to seat calmy or dive into the water.Lots of toys and board games provided. We really enjoyed our evenings playing with them!BBQ gas tank and gallon water bottle provided. Lake water is not good for drinking.Cottage clean upon arrival including fridge. Kitchen well stock except for small spoons ;)Cons: Some mantenaince required at the shower and roof, it leaks when it rains a lot. Owner really responsive to repair it. Small cottage with three rooms. 2 of OK size but one with bunkbeds really small, we used as storage. Just to keep in mind if your family needs this space.Small TV with no possibility to connect to internet. DVD player with DVDs provided. In case you would like to use it as screen, consider to bring your computer and compatible cable. BBQ in bad shape but it worked. It needs some deep cleaning and tweaking.Overpriced for this type of cottage in other locations, but...location...location...location!Overall, we had a good time in our 10th wedding anniversary with our daughter and two doggies! Thank you!

We had a lovely few days here. The property was just as the pictures depicted it to be. It was very comfortable. It was just the two of us in the middle of October but I can imagine that this would also be perfect for a family with small children...there is a small beach that has quite shallow water as well as the dock where there is deeper water of course. It was very quiet (to be expected as it is October). Sheldon answered all our questions and was the perfect host. We highly recommend this property and hope to come back again.

We stayed at this cottage Sept 20-23. Sheldon was great to communicate with and answered all of our questions right away. the view was absolutely beautiful, with a view of the water from pretty much anywhere. kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. it was so quiet around the cottage, so it was nice and peaceful and relaxing. it was a wonderful vacation and we hope to visit again soon.

Our week away was great, the cottage sits on a beautiful rocky outcrop. Note that the cottage is quite a bit smaller than it looks, so it’s cozy!

My family and I stayed at the property for a week. The location of the house and lake is absolutely amazing. Very close to Huntsville and Dorset where you can have day trips.. Although the weather wasn’t very great we managed to still enjoy this cottage as it offers the tranquility and scenery that we were looking for. There is a really nice sand beach for those visitors who have little ones. Overall, 5 stars

This cottage location was ideal - quiet, serene but still close to Huntsville when necessary. A highlight was watching a beautiful sunset, followed by a full moon rise over the lake. Sheldon was a good host, responsive and helpful. Our toddlers enjoyed the toys and beach but were challenged by the terrain. They’ll be better next year!
