Stable shower. Cleanliness is still okay.
We were there for the second time in almost a year and had to realize that it was no longer a hotel in the Ayenda chain, but just a hostal/guesthouse that was run by a somewhat quirky man. The name on Booking is wrong, it is now called "Hostal Fresas".
Upon arrival, he explained to us the pricing system for taxis in Peru and why the trip direct from the airport is so expensive, as if we didn't know it ourselves, we've been here quite often. So I showed little interest in the explanations. Somehow he didn't get it and just kept talking to my wife. Seems to be a record that he plays with every guest. Card payment was not possible, which is a no-go for an accommodation that calls itself a hotel. The gentleman didn't even have a computer or cell phone to match the reservation with and only asked to be shown my cell phone. He said he only offers accommodation by reservation. He apparently does this via booking.com, for which he has no access, or directly by phone. And worst of all: he handed us the key to the front door of the hostal. He is said to be often away or busy. Is this supposed to be a hotel? There is no 24-hour reception. We could easily have copied the key and walked in there at any time. There is zero security here. Every transient hotel is safer. Tourists should avoid this place.
The emblems of the Ayenda Hotel were still everywhere, both in the entrance area and in the room.
The room facing the courtyard stank of cigarettes, since smoking is allowed in the courtyard. There was no socket to charge the cell phone in the room. The shower was fine, bed sheets are still a joke, we didn't take the breakfast after a look in the kitchen. There were two tables, one with ashtray in the courtyard, the other was full of Christmas decoration, no one wants to sit at such a table. When we left the hotel to take the bus to visit relatives, the man babbled on again about the peculiarities of the taxi business in Peru. We just left him...

There is WiFi, the room doesn’t feel really dirty.
If you’re not Spanish, you can’t communicate with the host. Not even signing language or translating via internet is doing the job. Doesn’t feel very organised. The neighbourhood isn’t very safe.
