The location of this place is absolutely amazing and there are a bunch of really cute balconies you can chill at. Also a great host.
The room that for four people is very small. Like you will always be in someones hair but the location is worth it.

Property was in good location thats why i booked it. This was my first time visiting to greece and first impression was so bad. The staff was so rude , don’t know how to talk to guest who visited first time in the county and that day was so bad experience for me.
This is just okey hotel, it’s like a hotel kind of vibe. But with that amount of money, it’s not that bad.

Excellent location, great view from the shared terrace. John is a friendly helpful guy and can make a great coffee.
Whilst John is friendly and helpful, he seems to be the only person covering the reception. It seems he lives on the property and is regularly with family and friends. I felt uncomfortable having to ask for things as I felt I was interrupting his leisure time. Internet connection was temperamental from our room. The shower was also small with no door or cover so water often got everywhere in our bathroom.

Very close to the main areas of oia but not too close as oia can get extremely. Great rooftop, and there is a terrace view. The host is accommodating and will give you recommendations.

The location was perfect. 10 min walk to the Oia bus terminal, so getting around the island was easy. Also, many restaurants and shops are close by as the Villa is on the main street of Oia. View from the hotel are great and the room was perfect with plenty of space. John was vey welcoming and available for everything and had great tips on where to eat and what to do.

The location was wonderful, easily accessible to everything yet quiet. The outdoor shared spaces were beautiful and made it easy to enjoy the lovely scenery.
The bedroom wasn't the most comfortable--the bed was squeaky and the tv didn't allow for connecting to Netflix.

good location to the rest of family. the staff, Moses was engaging g and delightful, extremely helpful and notice when only one pillow in room he immediately gave us another.
broken dresser, scratchy towels, very tight room. wanted an upgrade and willing to pay but had to pay full in other room too so that seemed a bit unreasonable. Understand the resins g that they could have booked that room however they had the larger room I booked so they could have made more by renting us the larger room. made no sense. The gentleman we dealt with was constantly interrupting me so I never could talk, a bit in the defensive and curt at times.

Believe all the other reviews that warn of this man’s aggressive and volatile behavior! We had a terrible experience and it was VERY expensive. $400+ per night for 4 nights. Host was unprofessional and rude. He openly criticized guests to one another. He was aggressive and antagonistic. And when he realized he had behaved poorly, he emailed Booking.com to misrepresent that we had never shown up for our stay. Booking.com tried to confirm that, luckily, via email while I was still on the property. And it’s been challenging to get a review in on this property. Buyer beware!
Update: he just tried to call me more than a week after we checked out and I believe it’s because he saw this review! Scary!!!
UPDATE: I called BOOKING.COM when I saw the owners claim in response to my review that I had not stayed on the property. I provided proof of receipts for the charges. They called the host to “discuss” and the volatile owner said he wanted nothing to do with discussion about my stay and hung up on the rep. They then saw what I meant about his volatility. TO ALL FEMALE VISITORS WHO WISH TO COMMUNICATE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE, feel free to contact me. Also, see photos of receipts.
Believe the previous reviews on all the sites that warn about the host’s aggressive, demeaning behavior. I wish I had read them more carefully before I booked this. We were frightened.
Host was rude and unprofessional. I would never stay there again. And while the photos depict accurately the room we stayed in, it’s not to scale so without a person in the photo it is difficult to see that it’s claustrophobic and tiny and nonfunctional. (One reviewer called it a Hobbit’s Retreat. Spot on!) If you want to iron your clothes, you have to bring your clothing to his reception/apartment and iron them in his presence. It’s not a kitchen if the hot plate and kettle can only be used when perched on 1 of the 2 chairs in the kitchen. That’s a fire hazard! Not enough plates or glasses or silverware. To open the fridge you have to move the chair. One set of drawers under the stairs. One storage unit with 6 hangers, a shelf and a drawer. He demonstrated that one has to kick the door to get it to shut properly, otherwise it flaps. (see photo) From the bathroom door to the bedroom is the kitchen with 10 square feet of walking space. If a person has to use the bathroom, anyone standing in the kitchen has to sit or leave first. There is only 1 outlet in the kitchen. And none in the bathroom. And he advised us not to turn on the outdoor light as it blows the fuse. So we’d come home to darkness. And the light inside turns off unless there is a key in the slot. So we had to fumble around each night to get in and light the place. It’s awful and especially for $1600 for 4 nights. We felt foolish for having paid for this. Other rooms may have a nice view but we only saw a stack of empty bottles from the restaurant next door. We were there to celebrate my daughter’s college graduation and when we checked in he handed us a can of beer “to share and celebrate!” So odd and awkward!
He seems to be at odds with all his neighbors. We were ready to leave in the dead of night! Bad situation.

Everything was great! It was located right on the strip in town. It was very comfortable and was just what we needed with a disabled child. We didn’t have a view from the cave apartment but it also didn’t have the stairs that the other cave dwellings did.

What's not to love about Maryloujohn Villas. Firstly, the location is second to none - right at the beginning of the main street, directly opposite a sweet convenience store, views as far as the eye can see. Secondly, the owner John is so very attentive and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure we had a great trip. Perfect spot for an Oia base. We'd go back for sure.

The location is perfect.
For the price, I don't think there's something better.
It's close to everything, groceries, cafe, restaurants, it's at the main street of Oia.
If you are looking for luxury rooms,, may not be your choice.
If you come to explore Santorini and just have a good place to sleep when you come back from your daily adventure, and still can can enjoy the evening in Oia, Maryloujohn Villas is perfect.
John is very accomodating and that is also a very big plus.
Maryloujohn Villas makes you feel at home.
He even offer his kitchen to us :-)
Thank you so much John, you made our stay wonderful and unforgetable.

The place is beautiful, rooms are nice, clean and cozy. The host is the best you could hope for: was very friendly all the way, gave a lot of recommendations, organized a transfer and a caldera boat tour.
But the most of all, I truly believe that the view from terrace is the best you can get on Santorini: you can clearly see the Caldera in all its splendor, plus you get mind-blowingly beautiful Oia sunsets.

the host and location are amazing. you really couldn’t get a better location in oia. the rooms are clean and the view is stunning. it is a good value for the money and we highly recommend it.

Right in the middle of Oia was this gem. John was such a gracious host and very attentive! You walk out the gate of the villa and you are in the middle of Oia with spectacular views everywhere you turn. This property is truly a value for your money.

Great Great help from the host, you can ask anything and he will help you.
Location is amazing, on the street with stores and beautiful surrondsings in oia, but still quiet!
Great overall, only comment is that included jacuzzi use (f.e. at least 1x 1 hour session included, to schedule) would be nice, the pricing of the jacuzzi is too high I think.

Great location at the beginning on the marble walkway. John was a fantastic host and helpful with arranging transfers and even called our photographer and arranged a meeting at the villa.

John was incredibly hospitable, and the location couldn't be better - close to everything in Oia, but not in the most crowded sections of it.
No complaints.

Amazing location - straight on the OIA main pedestrian street. Perfect views form the terrace - its what yuo expect going to Santorini. very comfortable mattresses and pillows - new, replaced last year. Everything perfect - hospitality, rooms, location.
