La cercanía al parque nacional Cotopaxi. Bien decorado
Los precios de la comida me parecieron excesivamente altos

Easy 1.5 hour drive from Quito transports you into a spectacular landscape! The lodge was welcoming and cozy with a modern yet distinctly Andean aesthetic. Great food and hospitality. The toasty fire in the room--that staff maintained through the day--made it even more inviting.
4.7
The fireplace, the big bed, design of the room, food and service also good. The view was outstanding!
Nothing

The lodge is located close to Cotopaxi volcano, to get there it is better to have a SUV or something similar, but when going really slow and careful you also manage with a normal car.
The staff is very friendly, they kept the kitchen open longer on our arrival day. The food is very good.
Also they helped us to organize our activities, like the Cotopaxi hike with a local guide and horse back riding.
The room was very nice and the fire was turned on for warmth. Unfortunately the shower took a very long to get warm water.

Secluded, stylish accommodation with unique location among volcanoes. Good service and tasty food. We enjoyed our time there a lot. I appreciated that Jessica helped us to arrange all the activities and transfers so everything went seamless.

The lovely staff, the great view, good food and there’s much to do. We would absolutely love to come back. Stayed for three nights and that was perfect!
Nothing!

good Cotopaxi view, beautiful rooms lodge style, nice garden
not necessarily negative, but you need a SUV to get there

very friendly staff. Nice location, very Nice looking rooms, your own fireplace, stunning view at corapaxi
we had dinner twice, the first dinner was totaly taste less, really food with no taste. the second dinner was better. the shower was not good, one rain shower (wich is a problem if you do not want wet hair) and it was or too hot, suddenly cold while showering

This property was beautiful! it has been refurbished in the last few months and the attention to detail is exquisite. It’s immaculately maintained and it’s location in the valley of the volcanoes cannot be matched. we ate dinner and breakfast there which were wonderful overlooking the Cotopaxi volcano. The staff were amazing particularly Jesica who organized everything for us including horseback riding. I’ve forgotten the name of the other person who helped us out — Diego or Jose — but he was extremely helpful too. We loved the fireplace in our room. I can’t say enough about Chilcabamba!
There was absolutely nothing we didn’t like about this property!

Loved the cozy design and views of the volcano. The staff was amazing and so was the food.

Chilcabamba Lodge was a very nice place with an incredible view! We would rank our overall stay an 8/10 since somethings were slightly off.
Pros:
The view of Cotopaxi is impeccable when the sky is clear!
The rooms are adorable and very cozy with a wood burning fireplace.
The staff is quick to help and service was lovely
The proximity of the hotel to the North Entrance of Cotopaxi National Park is about a 10 minute drive
The Chilcabamba Lodge property and main building is clean, spacious with room to walk around and had a lovely outdoor and indoor area to hang out and relax.
A welcome drink when you arrive and very easy check in
We got a box lunch one day and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food. 3 pieces of fruit, a sandwich, power-aid drink, chocolate bar, granola bar, and some biscuits!
A poncho like coat in each room to wear around the property when it's chilly! Helped to prevent our clothes smell like bonfire.
Cons:
Walls between rooms look like stone but are actually very thin and everything can be heard by your neighbors. Normal talking voice conversations and be heard word for word and we could hear our neighbor snoring at night.
The hot water in the shower was hit or miss with it changing from warm to chilly to warm but never super hot.
The bon fires in the evening were mostly smoke with very little flame. They were still enjoyable and a great time but all nights were the same and super smokey.
Wifi could be spotty moving in very small areas
Mostly we felt a little nickel and dimed. We asked for a bottle opening to enjoy a bottle of wine in our room after dinner and they said $5. At check out they tied charging us a $10 corking fee for a bottle we drank in our room and said we should pay it for any drink we had opened ourselves. There were a few other small things that in the big picture don't really matter, but considering this is one of the nicer places if felt odd for them to ask for money for these small things.
The food was mostly amazing but then we'd get a meal where it was subpar and seemed completely out of place. We did notice that when there were more people at the hotel food quality and quantity was lower. All food was served and it seemed like if you were later to a meal there was less left or you didn't get something at all.
Beds are pretty firm

Stunning interiors, comfy beds, stellar views. We couldn’t have been happier with the place. Jessica was extremely kind and helpful too, she talked us through what to do in the national park - which is a couple of minutes drive away.

the rooms are incredible, so clean and beautiful!!! lots of attention to details. The views of the Cotopaxi are unreal!
The staff is wonderful and helpful. The meals are the best we have had in Ecuador- seriously such amazing food!!! highly recommended!
nothing, we liked everything!!!

Great design, beautiful setting, brand new remodel, very friendly staff. Rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious.

It is a very cozy place with outstanding views. Stuff is very helpful and attentive. Jesica and Jose are awesome. The chef served the best maduro entree, and they have a nice selection of Ecuadorian wine, which is very cool, because I wanted to try it, but couldn’t find it anywhere.
it is not like I don’t like something, the lodge is great! but a few suggestions:
1. it would be nice if the the Wi-Fi connection in the rooms was better, sometimes even YouTube was hard to watch.
2. Add some snacks that will be available to buy during the whole day and night, because there are no shops nearby.
3. Guys are very helpful with the fireplace, but we had to call them every hour, because the wood was wet, and it required special inflaming ashes to make it burn. so, maybe some dry wood or some inflaming ashes in the room, can fix this problem.
But, again the atmosphere and service are great, and worth visiting, so this suggestions just to meals this place perfect, from my point of view!
thank you for the great vacation!

Best location for viewing Cotopaxi and travel to the National Park. Met many people from other countries while in the guest lounge. Food was great and they accommodated my Vegan request. Jessica was fantastic and resolved all our requests and spoke great English. The rest of the staff was very courteous and helpful.
The road to the lodge (either direct through Sangolqui or through Machachi) are just plain awful. They are upgrading parts of the road from Machachi, but they are still sections that are old cobble stones. From Machachi it is all cobblestones and ruts for many km. So once you are at the lodge, going anyplace else is difficult. Thankfully the lodge is great as is the food.

Excellent Food, beautiful views, superior choice around Cotopaxi

It is a newly renovated, small scale lodge managed by friendly people and a good chef. Ideal to discover the Cotopaxi NP. There is a large patch of ground behind the lodge that you can discover with views on the volcano.

Amazing lodges with beautiful views. The best hot chocolates to help you warm up before heading back to a cosy fire in your lodge. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great breakfasts.
4.7
This was a fantastic hotel if you want to explore Cotopaxi and the surrounding mountains. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful in planning everything from our transportation to our excursions. We were greeted with warm drinks and a smile. Breakfast is a must and delicious! Dinner is equally as good and tastes fantastic after a long day out. When we stayed it was a little cloudy, but the views are still fantastic! The rooms are comfy and warm with a wood fireplace in every room. Nothing but great things to say about this hotel.
I will warn the less seasoned traveler, the ride out there from Quito is an adventure. The first hour is paved roads and windy hill. The second hour is cobblestone or dirt road with a lot of bumps. I do not recommend renting a car to do this yourself unless you are experienced. If you do rent a car, I recommend a four wheel drive and lifted vehicle.
4.7
Gorgeous setting at 3400m on the lower flanks of Cotopaxi volcano. 10 minute drive to North Gate of the National Park. Tasty and plentiful breakfast and evening meals. Both early mornings unobstructed views of Cotopaxi Volcano. Rooms exquisite, suites with attention to detail and wood burning stove.
Meal service is a little rushed. Courses appeared before the previous was finished.
