About this house rental
Vir-Mar Beach/Chesapeake Bay / Northern Neck of Virginia
Located within the historical Northern Neck of Va, “My Blue Heaven” welcomes you with stylish comfort and pleasant surroundings to this spacious (3,400 + sq ft) modern home featuring 6 bedrooms, 3 full baths, a large dining room and gourmet kitchen. All
Bedrooms are good size with comfortable beds, and a King in the Master suite. Dinner
seating for 12 people (expandable to accommodate 16) makes this is the perfect home for any size family. Great room has gas fireplace and flat screen TV. A convenient floor plan provides areas of privacy. A large deck overlooks picturesque Hacks Creek.
This Home is located in the peaceful, exclusive setting of the Skiff Cove development,
with a private pond and gazebo. There is plenty of room for Hiking, Biking (5 bicycles of different sizes), or Walking with a Nature Trail bordering the water’s edge. Make sure to stop and watch the wildlife or enjoy swinging over the bank’s edge. There are deer, rabbits, squirrels and turkeys that call this 26 acres home. This wildlife experience will leave lasting memories for you and your family. You can also Drive, Walk or Bike to Virmar Beach.
Explore navigable Hacks Creek in your own boat or the kayaks (3), a paddle board and canoe included on your reservation. You will see the many species of the birds that inhabit Hacks Creek; Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, Ospreys, Hummingbirds, Bluebirds, Great Egrets, a variety of ducks and an occasional Swan. You can even make out into the mouth of Potomac River entering the Chesapeake Bay, a mere four hundred waterway yards distance. Seeing the sun rise or sun set on the Chesapeake or dolphins swimming beside you is just a paddle away. These are sights to treasure.
Once back from exploring, crab, fish, relax with a book or just sunbathe on the
spacious dock. Crab traps, a crab steaming pot and outdoor grill are provided. Bring
your own fishing gear as perch, spot, sea trout and rockfish are just a few of the many
species you can catch. Additionally, this area of the Chesapeake Bay is a prime fishing area with several charter fishing trips available.
Hacks Creek is protected from heavy wind and weather, so you can enjoy tubing,
skiing, swimming and if you want sand between your toes, there is a public sand beach
area on the Chesapeake Bay within walking/biking distance on the front edge of the Skiff Cove property.
On a clear night, relax on the back deck, hammock, pier or lounge chair in the yard and take in the Milky Way, North Star, satellites passing overhead or thousands of beautiful stars. There are also the sounds of nature; an owl, geese, crickets, tree frogs and maybe a distance horn from a passing ship traveling the Chesapeake Bay.
Gather for a private dining event on the deck, or take advantage of the large back yard
overlooking the water. The back yard is spacious enough to accommodate Weddings,
Birthday parties, or if you are a business, this is ideal space and view for an Oyster roast or crab feast. Catering for such events is available.
The Northern Neck offers plenty of alternative activities. You can cruise to historic
Tangier or Smith Island, enjoy highly rated or family oriented golf courses, book a
charter fishing trip, visit several local museums, boutique or antique shops and
vineyards, all of which are close at hand. While you are out, have superb lunch or
dinner at one of many restaurants that offer reasonably priced menus or fine dining
venues. Locally caught seafood and locally produced wines are available for you to
enjoy.
Whether it’s a family weekend get a way, a large convention, or a dynamic corporate
retreat, “My Blue Heaven” on Hacks Creek may be the perfect for you. Our setting and
amenities provide the perfect retreat for multi-family reunions/vacations, and business
conferences. We are conveniently located near Ophelia, Virginia and within easy travel

We are look forward to welcoming you to My Blue Heaven.

The property was beautiful. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the dock fishing, crabbing, and kayaking. We enjoyed floating and swimming at vir-mar beach (until jelly fish arrived.). We found out of the water entertainment in kilmarnock. The house was well suited for our gathering of two families with children.
Both the host and property manager were wonderful in answering questions and giving helpful suggestions about local information.

This place is excellent to host a big group. The living room can hold everyone together without feeling crowded, the kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very spacious and well distributed. The area ppppp

A wonderful stay for our family and friends! We hope to be back!

Honestly the property is much more beautiful in person than the pictures present and we had such a lovely stay. We built some core memories with the kids during our stay that we will remember forever. The internet and reception was very poor but it helped us all disconnect (just don’t expect to be able to work remotely here) and reconnect with each other. Thank you for letting us stay at your family home as it was clearly loved and maintained throughout the years by a loving family.

Our group was 4 families with kids of varying ages. We have been doing this trip for a decade and this house is the best set up for our group we've ever had. A big "dorm room" at the far end of the house meant the kids could play and get loud without bothering adults talking and playing games on the main level. The dorm also had to nooks that the older teens loved as they felt they had their own space.
The dock is set up to fully enjoy the Bay. Without much effort we caught a bushel of crabs with the four house pots and there is a picnic table outside perfect for picking. There were jellyfish but not a ton - people were wading in the water at the public beach without issue. The house is home to a flock of wild turkeys that showed up everyday around 4 which was really cool.
We didn't realize we needed linens/towels but the welcome email was clear about that so it wasn't a problem, just a bit of a surprise.
The internet is spotty. My husband had planned on doing one critical work call and ended up going having to go into town. The public library is close (by the Food Lion) and has little work pods that were perfect although it would have been better if he didn't have to leave the house. However, it forced the kids to abandon their devices which was great.
The motion sensor outside the master bedroom is faulty and had a bit of a disco party at night but we just turned off that breaker when we went to bed which worked fine.
We will be booking again next year!

Saw an eagle, herons, wild turkeys, ospreys, literaly in the back yard, nice dock, my older children loved the kayaks, very short walk to a secluded beach, internet is spotty due to remote area, and there were jellyfish, several nice restaurants within a short drive

This is a really beautiful place to stay. We were 14 people and we were more than comfortable in the spacious house. The area is very rural so be prepared to drive if you want to shop or do anything. The internet is very spotty and the cell service is basically non existent. So, it's a great place to unplug and relax. The house is big and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, utensils. The are NO LINNENS at all. No towel, sheets, etc. This was an issue for us as we flew in and had to drive to Walmart to purchase linens that we had to leave behind. Also, the water is NOT for swimming. It is full of jelly fish. (The dock AND the beach). It is great for fishing, crabbing and canoeing but you cannot swim in it. This was tough since the days were very hot. Also, you cannot be outside at night due to the immense swarms of biting insects. We couldn't even have a fire at night. It was just not possible without being attached by biting insects. So, overall, nice house, beautiful location, don't plan to swim, be outside at night or have any internet access.

Blue Heaven was a great, quiet, beautiful place to house our large family weekend. Secluded, yet so close to the beach. We enjoyed the dock, canoeing, crabbing and playing on the beach. The house is large and each family was able to have their spot in the house, without being an annoyance to others. The beach is a quick 5min walk. The dock was fun for crabbing and fishing (although no swimming as we saw lots of jellyfish and even stingrays!). We also recommend a quick visit to the T&Js Dairy Bar minutes away on route 200 in Burgess. The ice cream there was excellent!! Thanks Blue Heaven!

This was our second stay at My Blue Heaven with a big group and it was wonderful. It is so peaceful and we loved all the time spent outside on the dock, in the yard, and at the beach. We ventured out to Reedville one day for icecream and explored the area more. The Northern Neck is such a great, quiet escape!

The house was large, clean, and well stocked. Having access to the kayaks and canoe made for lots of fun for our family reunion. The whole property felt like a private island to us. Secluded and quiet!

Location is ideal for access to the water. There were lots of water sport equipment there.

4 days wasn’t long enough. Had a great time. Bonfires, fishing, kayaking, crabbing, sitting around eating, had a blast! I definitely want to come back, and the master shower is to die for!!! The house is beautiful!

We go on a family vacation ever year and this house was great. It was enough space for all of us and the kids had a blast between the dock and the beach

My family which, includes 4 generations ages 8-79, had an amazing time in Heathsville. The house was perfect for our group with plenty of beds and lots of room for us to spread out. Outside we spent our days playing can jam and corn hole, fishing from the dock and kayaking as well as enjoying the fire pit. We also walked to the beach area. The property is very private. We hope to return again next year! Thank you for opening your home to visitors!

Great house. Nice for family.
Dock and Kayaks were a lot of fun

Our stay at My Blue Sky on Hacks Creek far exceeded my family's expectations. We had a large group - and there was room and something to do for everyone. We caught blue crabs, spent time on the beach, cooked and enjoyed dinner together every evening except one when we went out to a local spot on the homeowner's recommendation. I couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Homeowner was very communicative, and made our trip that much better with his hospitality. We would definitely go back again!

The house was just as described: it was clean, very spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen, and PLENTY of outdoor amenities. We all enjoyed every minute- indoors and out. We loved the dock!! Our only two concerns were that the upstairs was too warm at night, and a clicking issue with the stove. We would absolutely return.

We visited this home on Hack's Creek June 26-30, 2022 as a 50th Wedding Anniversary trip for my parents. We visited with thirteen family members, including children aged 3, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, and 16. We had adults aged 43, 43, 46, 47, 72, and 73. It was absolutely enjoyed by every member of our family! The home on Hack's Creek is a unique and special place, like no other. It is in an amazing ecological niche at the meeting point of Hack's Creek, The Potomac, and Chesapeake Bay! We found/observed crabs, krill, sea nettles, osprey, turkey, deer, translucent fish, blue heron, and so many other unique species! We kayaked up Hack's Creek and navigated into the Bay, swam in the Creek, walked to Vir-Mar beach for swimming and sand-castle making, biked around, had campfires, played bocce and croquet, and explored every inch of this special location. The house itself was so perfect! The design of the home is open, bright, and great for a large family. Each person felt they had their own space, but we also had so many places for family time together on the back porch, living room, front porch, and dining room. It was absolutely perfect! My mother and father got the master bedroom for their 50th Anniversary....Wow! Each room had its own unique qualities and views...the kids' bedroom for six was awesome with loft beds and unique "nook" beds. The photos and reviews of this location are great, but the real thing is even better! It will always hold special memories in our hearts and minds. May God Bless!

Everything was perfect. The house is spacious and had everything we needed to have a wonderful weekend with friends. The property is absolutely gorgeous. It was amazing to completely get away from crowds for once. The stars are incredible and there are so many fun outdoor activities to keep the kids off devices for days. We hope to be able to go back next year!

The house is beautiful and has everything you may need to spend great time with family and/or friends. I feel that the pictures that are published don’t do enough justice to the house and the surroundings. Super quiet and unique space to spend quality time with family/friends/kids/adults etc.

Blue Heaven Golf Weekend
The home and the property was perfect for our group. We all love the water, and the property has large open areas for recreation. The kitchen is very well equipped. The large open area facing the water was a great place for us to gather for the Ryder Cup after golf. We had perfect weather so the stargazing at night was spectacular. If you are interested in playing golf, we recommend Hobbs Hole and the Golden Eagle at the Tides Inn. The house is well equipped for water sports with kayaks and canoes as well as bicycles in all sizes. We brought provisions for 3 days of meals, so the refrigerators and the kitchen worked well for us. This is a great spot for biking, kayaking and canoeing. If you are more than nine unrelated adults, you will need at least a blow-up mattress. The futons and bottom bunk beds in bedroom five are not suitable for large adults. This room is however perfect for children.

From kayak trips to stargazing on the pier to cooking large dinners in the well-equipped kitchen, we had a great time. The house is spacious enough that people could retreat when they needed alone time but offers a large living area where all eleven of us could hang out or play games.

Our family gathered here for a week of relaxation and time on the water! We had a mixture of adults, teenagers and one 9 year old. The teenagers enjoyed playing in the large yard, taking the bikes for a ride to the bay, catching blue crabs and fishing. They also loved the bunk room which is over the garage and had four singles and two futons. The adults all enjoyed the isolation and sitting in a hammock or on the dock. Everyone loved watching the herons, osprey, bald eagles and egrets! We were there the week of July 17, and we experienced jellyfish. There were a few stings and not that much swimming. The Sea Safe protectant that Dave recommended seemed to help with the severity of the stings. Speaking of Dave, he was a great host and responded quickly to our questions. The house has a well stocked kitchen. There are three refrigerators - one in the kitchen, one in the garage and a small refrigerator in the laundry room. We have been in rentals with only one refrigerator, so this was great for our family! We took the ferry from Ophelia to Sunnybank and then went to the Fishermen's Museum in Reedville. We went antiquing in Kilmarnock and Tappahannock and to Good Luck Cellars/Winery. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Really enjoyable week with family, off the beaten path, no interruption from the outside world ,lots of crabbing and fishing time enjoying nature

The kayaks and canoes were a big hit. We loved sitting on the back porch in the early part of the day. Close enough to the beach to ride bikes there. Big enough yard to play volleyball and other activities.

We had an amazing time. This place is tranquility defined. The location is a hidden gem, the surroundings pristine. The internet connection (and cell phone coverage...) was very slow, but that's about it as far as shortcomings - everything else (both the house & facilities provided) and overall location are perfect for a dream vacation. Kids enjoyed the dock, the beach and the Compass entertainment center (about 30min away) , recommended by property manager. Note that the area is very remote, and sparsely populated, which may not be for everyone. Overall - great place. The house is much bigger than it shows in the pictures. The property also - unfortunately looks like other houses may be built in the area (~ 10 lots are for sale...), which in my opinion has the potential to change the experience which for us was very peaceful.

Beautiful. Would have been better if our boat could have been docked at the dock area on the property.

If you love relaxation, kayaking, fishing, and swimming, this place is for you. The Memorial Day weekend weather was not very cooperative but we still had an amazing time. Perfect for kids because there is a huge backyard to run around in, an empty road running in front of the house where they could ride their bikes without concern for cars. One of the rooms has secret bunk beds and TV and game system which the kids loved. The house is spacious and laid out well so that when the kids were asleep the adults could be down stairs and not worrying about waking them up. It is close proximity to several cute little wineries. Honestly we spent most of the time at the house enjoying all the outdoor activities. We had a great time. David was very helpful leading up to our visit to ensure we had directions and knew where to go shopping and what amenities and activities were in the area. Highly recommend it.
