About this cabin rental
Historic cabin built in the 1920's. Dr. Fine, the county's only doctor, used the cabin as his fishing getaway. The fishing hole is located at the big bend, just below the fork of the North and Middle Forks of the Smith River.
Nestled among the old growth Douglas Firs, and a quiet beach with private access, this cozy cabin has it all!
In all directions, are views of the pristine Smith River and National Forest. Birds are abundant! We are visited by Osprey, Kingfishers and a resident Bald Eagle. The yard brings songbirds and various bird species that provide hours of fun for birders.

Our stay at this property was absolutely magical. The river was at a great level with both shallow areas and deep swimming holes. The hosts were amazing, and the cabin felt like home. We especially loved the outdoor area with a propane grill, hammock, and seating area. We had to cut our trip a day short but already have plans to come back. Thanks for a great stay!

Great cabin by the Smith River! We wish we had planned a longer stay. The location by the river is delightful. We are already planning a return trip so we have more time to explore the majestic redwoods. And we definitely want more time to enjoy hanging out and playing in the river.

Beautiful cabin in the woods by the pristine waters of the Smith River. Friendly and helpful hosts provided everything needed to enjoy one of the most wonderful places in nature we’ve experienced. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities inside, with an ideal outdoor setting that left us at total peace. We could’ve just stayed on property and had an amazing stay, but we were close to many of the most amazing trails with giant redwoods and the rugged ocean coast. Wow! One of our best experiences.

This riverside cabin is super cozy and full of charm! We enjoyed the beautiful views of the river and the lovely outside patio areas. The cabin is clean, fully stocked with everything you need and other things you will enjoy. The location is great for enjoying all that the redwood forest and Northern California has to offer. Don’t hesitate to rent this booking!

This cabin on the Smith River was more than we ever expected! The peace and serenity was just what we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the river each morning and night and loved its location to the Redwoods. The cabin was great for my husband and I and we enjoyed having the kitchen so well stocked. Highly recommend!

The property is stunning, absolutely darling. Just bring food and clothes. Wanted to spend more time on river however, the river is down a pretty steep incline. Crescent City is 20 miles away. We did a lot of driving.

We absolutely loved this darling little cabin in the woods. It was so cozy and in a wonderful, peaceful location. Close to Jedidiah Smith Redwoods and Crescent city. Not too far from Prairie Creek Redwoods either, if you like exploring the coast and various trails. We can’t wait to come back to visit.

The cabin was the perfect place for our family getaway for the weekend. What a wonderful, comfortable, and peaceful way to spend our time together enjoying the scenery and each other. The cabin and property was absolutely wonderful. The water pressure in the shower was great, the bed was very comfortable. We had good internet access and it was nice having a lot of movies to watch. We had total privacy and many places to be outside to enjoy listening to the river surrounded by nature with my wife and dog. We would recommend this to anyone!
The kitchen had everything we needed. The owners Patti & Bob thought of everything in stocking the cabin with the basic essentials. They were very nice. We met the property manager Cain and she was very responsive to any request we had.

Thank you again for a phenomenal stay so close to the Redwood State Parks. The cabin was beautiful, the river was perfectly challenging for our mini-whitewater adventure, and the hospitality was 110%. We will definitely stay again when we venture back to Northern California.

Rustic doesn’t mean dump here! Very clean. Probably the most well stock vacation rental we have stayed in to date. Communication with the owner all went smooth. We had some trouble with the key pad for the door lock. Oh, well, we felt, in this area, safe leaving our little home away from home unlocked while out exploring.
This place will not disappoint if you are looking for something off the beaten path!

This is a really cute, clean, well equipped cabin. The outdoor space is exceptional, better than the pictures! It feels private and has a nice path to the river. It deserves 5 stars, but it was our bad luck to be there during unusually hot days and I did get uncomfortable despite the fan. AC was not listed, so can only blame myself. I was just hoping to escape Texas heat a little more! That said, I would definitely recommend this as as great place to stay.

Truly a peaceful and beautiful setting. Viewed the river from the flagstone patio, where we also did stargazing and listened to the river, a short walk away. Extremely clean and well maintained cabin had everything we needed. Feels very private, even though it’s in a residential area. Very responsive host and management. Would definitely go back.

Cute little cabin, but perfect for our family of 3. What was really amazing was the outdoor space, right on the river, plenty of seating including a hammock. We really enjoyed it. The owners were lovely as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Owner’s thought of everything we could possibly need or want. Beautiful patio/ deck area to drink coffee or just chill and listen to the river. Quaint decorations and thoughtfully supplied. Would highly recommend!

An old, drafty, isolated cabin with a river somewhere in the distance? Nope.
This property is in a populated yet quiet neighborhood (the fire house is nearby) off of the Redwood Hwy. The cabin looks like it could have been built yesterday with all of the modern amenities you would expect. It's almost more of a guest house as the main house is only about 50 feet away. However, with the large outdoor patio area and heavy foliage in between you won't feel claustrophobic.
And that river in the distance? Well....walk down the stairs next to the cabin and you're there. Yes, you can swim in it. Yes, it is very, very cold!
