Take a walk down the tree lined path down to the dune to a beautiful private beach. This is a charming and modest vintage cottage. If you're looking for stainless appliances and Pottery Barn furniture, this is not for you. Laid back, simple, homey decor and surroundings beckon a former era. The beach is steps away and the views of sunsets outstanding. We have stayed here four years now and always have the best time!

This really is a trip back to the '40s and in the best way possible. Nana doesnt have fancy electronics or an updated kitchen but they're completely unnecessary if you're the type to appreciate a laid back vacation. And trust me the location and easy, close beach access make it all worth it! The beach itself is one of the most beautiful I've seen, fresh or salt water. You have your own private beach that belongs to the neighborhood you're in, so no fighting for a spot at the tiny public ones. Summer '23 stairs and railing to beach updated so very easy to get up and down. Will absolutely come back!

Love nana’s cottage and the location. So close to the beach. June is not always great weather. Hopefully next year we can come in early August

We enjoyed getting away from the city to the cottage for a few days. The cottage was simple but had everything we needed and then some. The quick access to the beach was the best.

Our group of five adults loved this property! It’s a quaint house just off the beach. Close to New Buffalo and walking distance to a small grocery and a couple of great restaurants. We will definitely stay here again!

This was a perfect, rustic but cozy cottage. I was most interested in a place that had direct access to a beach where our dog could run around. This was absolutely the best place for that! Not only is the beach beautiful, you can walk for miles on it. We really loved this place.

The cottage was great. The location is perfect for going to the beach. Just a few stairs down to a great location on lake Michigan. It had everything we needed and we loved staying there, we just wish we had booked a longer stay. The kids loved it too.

We played music from the 1930’s-40’s on the house system via blue tooth and it totally matched the vibe of the cottage. Fantastic access to Lake Michigan. Very comfortable place.

This was our 3rd time renting here and we all adore both its charm and most importantly location. The description accurately reflects the cottage as being vintage which gives it a special experience. My kids just love this place and the grandparents feel they’re traveling back into time. Minor suggestions would be to potentially some day replace some of the seating in the main living space. All said, this is becoming our family’s favorite summer spot to vacation.

We love Nana’s Cottage! This was our third successive stay here! It’s homey and well-stocked with a beautiful deck and literally steps from the beach! We will be back in 2023!

The perfect beach stay ❤️
We loved this house! It is not “rustic” it is bright and light and clean and relaxing. The outdoor space is a wonderful summer retreat. We had easy access to a great part of the beach- not rocky and not crowded. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!!
A couple quick fixes for the next guests:
1) doorknobs to the 2 outside doors and the back bedroom are are various degrees of loose
2) ceiling fan not responding to the remote in the first bedroom
3) Roku not connecting despite lots of reboots
4) ceiling fans squeaking and appears unstable in the king bed room

Can’t beat the location, great rustic cottage
This property was recommended to us by friends. Location was fantastic. Listing is completely accurate; no frills or fancy stuff, but pretty much everything to make a week at the beach work. We had gorgeous weather, so our days were spent on the amazing beach. Beautiful sunsets!

Perfect Lakeside Getaway!
I rented Nana's Cottage for a long weekend getaway for my husband's birthday and we had the perfect trip! The house was exactly as described and it had everything we needed. Great outdoor living spaces, stocked kitchen, short walk down the stairs to the private beach, and the perfect getaway with our Golden Retriever. We loved the quaint town of Union Pier, which is just a short walking distance from the house. A great stay and we will certainly be back!

Can’t wait to return!
This is a clean, relaxing space in an amazing location in a sweet town. It was just my husband and our dog, but we thought it would comfortably sleep another 2-4 people! We found it really clean with a lot of charm. We just loved all of the windows and natural light, the huge deck with a couch and candles, the fire pit and the access to the beach —barely a minute’s walk! The beach is beautiful, smooth sand and gorgeous-colored water with insane sunsets. There is a huge welcome book that gives great tips on the local area. We walked from the cottage through Union Pier to grab coffee, sandwiches, pizza, visit a brewery and more throughout our stay, nothing more than about a 20min walk! We didn’t use the kitchen too much but found whatever we did need in the well-stocked cabinets. We were glad we brought some of our own cozy blankets and extra beach towels. Also, make sure to bring your own shower supplies. This is a wonderful place to sleep with the waves in the background and just be a part of nature at all times and get away. The host responded quickly. We hope to return soon!

Perfect location
Perfect location close to the beach. Comfortable, clean bungalow and great communication with the hosts. Could use a new coffeemaker and the stove was iffy but otherwise well appointed with great Wi-Fi and other amenities! Will absolutely return!

Autumn Weekend at Nana’s Cottage
We consider ourselves very lucky to find an open weekend at Nana’s Cottage. This home has the charm of an old cottage with updates and amenities for today’s vacationers. The location is ideal, steps to a private beach or a leisurely stroll to the shops and restaurants of Union Pier.

charming cottage with perfect location
This was our second time renting Nana’s cottage. Location cannot be beat, gorgeous walk down to the beach, pine trees and string lights surrounding you from the wrap around porch to the walk to beach. Beds are comfy, linens all clean. We fit our family of 4 (2 kids under 10) along with 3 grandparents. Very cozy and charming. Minor updates could be made in the sitting area and kitchen but it also gives it character that’s also part of the experience. We are sad it’s all booked up for next summer!!! Otherwise we’d have already booked for 2022.

Fall at The Lake
Thus was our second stay in just a few months. Nana’s is a perfect beach bungalow for those looking to stay close to the lake without spending fortune. It has a quaint vintage charm. The only downfall, which is unavoidable, is that there was been significant beach erosion since our last visit which made getting on and off the beach more difficult for my older parents. I’m sure this will change over time and we’d certainly stay at Nana’s again.

Perfect getaway
Our trip was perfect. The outdoor space is wonderful and the inside is spread out enough that you’re not on top of each other but cozy and comfortable. We cooked and grilled in the fully stocked kitchen. The trip was just what we needed and the cottage was the perfect spot.

Weekend stay at Nana's
We had a great time at Nana's Cottage. We had a small plumbing issue with the tub drain, however, the property team (Ryan) were super helpful in getting us help. Within a few hours the issue was fixed and we were back to enjoying our stay. As others have mentioned, the house could use some minor updating as it relates to moisture in the house but overall it was an awesome stay and the location is unbeatable. Thank you for making it a great stay!

Perfect getaway
Had a great time at the cottage! Lots of windows to get in the sun, great deck/outdoor space, speedy internet, nice sized kitchen, and amazing proximity to a fairly private beach. My minor complaint is regarding the comfort of the furniture: the king bed wasn’t the greatest, and the furniture in the den (the two chairs in particular) weren’t super comfortable. But between the beach and the deck, this place is perfect for a quick getaway!

Memorable long weekend at Lake Michigan
This is a great cottage for vacation on the Lake. You need to walk down two long flights of stairs to the beach so it would be hard for disabled or elderly but we managed with paddle boards, chairs, etc. with no problems. The beach is beautiful, the water was warm and clear and the sand is just like being at the ocean, without the sharks. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and evenings toasting marshmallows at the fire pit. The deck is really big and is equipped with a wonderful grill which made cooking out super easy. The cottage is great - three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large kitchen table and loads of windows for enjoying the scenery. It's a cottage, not an upscale house, but is equipped with all the essentials for enjoying time at beautiful Lake Michigan.

Great Family Beach Vacation
We so enjoyed staying at Nana’s Cottage! The home has a beachy, vintage feel and is steps to a quiet beach. The cottage is well stocked and clean. Communication with the property managers was easy and prompt. My family is already looking to book again! We can’t wait to come back.

Nice beach getaway
We very much enjoyed our stay at Nana's Cottage. The beach was quite pretty and extremely spacious, which made it easy to remain distanced from others even at it's busiest moments. The house had everything you need for a comfortable, if rather basic, beach trip. We certainly intend on coming back!

Nana’s Cottage—Phenomenal!
This is my favorite of the various cottages I have rented over the 30 years I’ve been coming to Union Pier. Spacious, clean, well-stocked, and comfortable beds made our stay enjoyable. The beautiful deck with plenty of outdoor seating made it easy to social distance and enjoy most of our meals outside. The fire pit was lovely as well. The proximity to the beach is a real plus, and yes, there are stairs that give you quite a workout! And we were able to have our dog with us—another bonus. My goodness, they even provided dog dishes! Loved, loved , loved this cottage and hope to rent it for years to come.

Great property!
Loved the closeness of the beach. The steps were well maintained to the beach with railings, which is a plus. The large porch was nice to eat on or just chat and relax. The porch lights on at night were a special touch as well. We used the beach towels, beach chairs and sand toys which are nice items to have available and reduce our need to pack. The vintage bathroom sinks were appreciated as they served as reminders of cabins we stayed in as children!
