Convenient location
Windows/shutters opened onto main road so either dark or noisy room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Berose was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful, booking a couple of really nice restaurants for us. The house has an interesting history and many interesting artefacts, and our room was clean and spacious.
Being on the main road, we couldn't have the windows open, which was a shame. And the 15Euro/day parking fee came as a bit of a shock (although we knew that the property didn't have its own parking available).

the owners are wonderful people. the house is very old and they are willing to give a historical guided tour which is really interesting.
absolutely nothing

La Residence des Indes is an amazing house filled with interesting and authentic artifacts collected by Michel and his family. Beroze was incredibly helpful and they were both delightful hosts. This B and B is highly recommended.

Out of the ordinary with a touch of class.
Remarkable surroundings. You will be staying in a museum of eastern heritage. Quite stunning
La Rochelle is a most agreeable French town with restaurants that please in great measure.
This property puts you near the centre and a walk from anywhere worth seeing.
The architecture of the town is quite breathtaking and this Chambre D’hotes allows you first hand to experience of what it is like to live in one of the many classic French properties. Far more enriching than staying in a traditional hotel.
For three days we felt part of this historic town rather than as outsiders visiting.
Hosts are friendly and welcoming
Parking is safe but a fair way from the property
Breakfast was limited

This was a hotel stay with a difference! The mansion, sitauated in the centre of La Rochelle was originally the home of a wealthy merchant who operated the French Eastern Indies and China company. The mansion has been beautifully restored with authentic 18th century furnishings and spiced up with genuine antique artifacts from the Orient.
Nothing!

Our host goes the distance to make you feel welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the details put to everything and the details in explaining the story and history of both city, environment and all the beautiful pieces of art to be found everywhere at the Residence. We will be back!

This is a great place!! Michelle and Beroze are excellent!! The hotel is very well located, with private parking just across a beautiful park. The hotel is like a small museum with very nice art pieces from all over the world. This place is really a gem.
We liked everything.

Beroze is a lovely Indian Lady and Michael has had a long love affair with the country and this is reflected in the ambience of the hotel. As well as being as comfortable and convenient as any city centre hotel the building has been renovated and equipped with an Indian theme, using many of their furnishings and artefacts garnered during a long career in India. The result is a somewhat eclectic Franco Indian atmosphere of which they are rightly proud. If you do stay here be sure to ask Michael to show you round
Best to phone just before you arrive to alert them. We tried both entrances but couldn’t make ourselves heard. This sounds strange but you’ll understand when you get there.
If coming by car be sure to take up the offer of parking as on street is very difficult
