The house has everything you need for a week stay. It is a short walk to the ocean, and everything you need is in town, a short walk/drive away.

Recently stay at this cottage for the wedding of one of my oldest friend’s children. The family has lived on Peaks for 20 years, so I am very familiar with the island. This cottage was ideally situated and outfitted to serve as our base for the weekend. Comfortable and clean and close to everything. Owners were friendly and great to work with. Highly recommend the cottage.

Absolutely perfect!!!

The cottage is in a great location … quiet yet within walking distance of restaurants and ferry pier. Kitchen had all the necessary tools for meals. Downstairs bedrooms were tight but adequate. We didn’t use the spacious loft. We had great communication with owner. Would stay again if in the Portland area.

Another fabulous (3rd, I think!) week at this lovely island home! Everything was perfect, as always. Thanks!

We had a wonderful week on Peaks despite the rain and the fog. The cottage is nestled on a quiet street surrounded by friendly neighbors. Although we don't have young children, the loft would be a wonderful room for them to play in on rainy days. The kitchen/living room combination with large windows offered a beautiful view and a cool breeze off the water. The kitchen had everything we needed except a lobster pot. (This we borrowed from a kind neighbor!) During our stay, we took a short walk down the road to observe the workers trying to load a beached, dead whale onto a truck. This was big excitement on the Island!
Thank you to Meghan and her family for sharing their beautiful home with us! What a treat!

On Peaks for a family wedding. This bright and cheery property is in an ideal location, secluded enough for the privacy we wanted, yet close enough to town and the ferry to Portland. Thrilled to use a pristinely clean bbq grill our first night, and enjoyed the spacious deck each day. The main floor and seating area was the perfect size for the five of us to all hang together, and although there is only a single bathroom, it was very spacious and manageable. We appreciated all the paper goods and clean, working appliances/kitchenware. There were even the makings for s’mores which was a very nice touch, but we didn’t have the time this visit to enjoy. Thin Towels and sheets left a little to be desired. Had to make all beds up upon arrival which is a first for me in a rental, and then the downstairs bedroom sheets had stains and musty smell so I had to rewash them first. Also, even though the description says there are queen beds, they are more like doubles, and the smallest bedroom was more like a closet with a broken bed frame and shade. Overall, these things we consider to be minor inconveniences and did not deter us from a pleasant stay and wonderful family time, so thank you. We rated this property a 4 out of 5 because with a few minor fixes, this home would be perfect.

Our rental was a new modern house with everything we needed and a good location for getting around the island. The owner met us and answered our questions. We would definitely recommend this property - it’s great for a family with children.

My extended family and I have been coming to Peaks Island for a few years now and we found this house last summer. From here on out it’ll be where we choose to stay! Everything you need is there, beds are comfy, plenty of blankets, linens, towels. Kitchen is nicely updated and the living area is very comfy. Lots of big beautiful windows to enjoy the partial view of the water and let the sea breeze in. The outdoor shower is amazing. We had 8 of us including my two kids and we felt we had plenty of space. My kids love the swing and all the games and activities to play with during our downtime. We enjoyed lots of leisurely walks down to the rocky water to feed the gulls and find crabs. Check in and check out were both extremely simple. Thanks for having us and letting us enjoy your beautiful home!

Excellent Peaks house. Could use some updated kitchen ware and it was end of season so could have been cleaner, but no big deal it worked great for our needs. Provided nice space for guests to visit over a wedding weekend. Nice and private up on the knoll even tho many neighbors. Wi-Fi went out for two days when it rained which was a bummer, that whole side of island was out. Loved the deck, used a lot. Overall a very nice unit for time on the island!

This was our first (but definitely not last!) stay at Meghan's lovely home on Peak's Island.
The location is terrific with a short walk to the Ferry and shops and an even shorter walk to the scenic ocean. The house had everything our family needed for a relaxing week on the island.
Looking forward to next year!

This was my second stay at Meghan's wonderful Peaks Island cottage -- and that's only because its growing reputation as one of the absolute best on the island caused me to miss out last year -- and I was again as pleased as can be!!
The house is perfectly located for walks to the ferry, shops, and restaurants. We enjoyed long morning bike rides exploring the island followed by boat excursions (great private & reasonably priced "Bird's Eye" charters, picks up on Peaks) and lazy sunny afternoon lunch and cocktails - personal favorites are The Skeg or Jone's Landing for the best cocktails and casual seating near the water.
This cottage has everything that you need in the kitchen, comfy new furniture for rainy-day TV watching, a lovely deck set-up for grilling and dining, a loft with plenty of sleeping space especially perfect for kids and teens!
I am already looking forward to my next visit!

The peace of Maine
We loved staying at this adorable cottage perched on a hill and just a couple of minutes walk to the water. Well appointed and clean with helpful touches like laundry detergent and extra toilet paper made it convenient as well as cute. We appreciated the quick and pleasant communication from the hosts as well as a the fact that we were able to bring our dog. Honestly one of the best VRBO stays we have ever had.

Disappointed
Check in was supposed to be 3pm, couldn't get in until 3:30pm. Immediately noticed a musty/ mildew odor along with a extremely strong odor of urine. The odor was so strong throughout the kitchen and sitting area that we had to open all the windows to try and disperse it. My husband and I had to use an inhaler because the odors were causing us to not breathe well. Also, there was no toilet paper. We had to leave and shop for it. The odors did not dissipate throughout our stay. The home met our needs and we would use the home again if we were guaranteed the odors were dealt with. Guests that came to the house noticed the odors also.

Great Family House
This is a great house for a family to stay at Peaks Island. There are two bedrooms on the bottom floor for the adults and a loft upstairs with four beds (including 2 bunk beds) for the kids. Just a 15-20 minute walk from the ferry, and has everything you could need for your stay.

Relaxing getaway for the whole family
My family (6 adults, 2 children, and 1 dog) has vacationed several times on Peaks over the years, but this was our first time in this property, and our favorite so far! The layout of the cottage was perfect for us all to enjoy time together, but also time apart (the upstairs loft was great for my two nephews). We loved the short walk to the rocky beach, and close proximity to a wooded trail system that led over to the bunker (Battery Steele). The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pans, dishes, spices, etc., there was plenty of seating (indoors & out), and we all felt comfortable (even when we were stuck inside on a rainy day).

Wonderful property
We've stayed at several places on Peaks over the years and this will be one of our favorites. It was clean and the space was a good size (we were three adults) and it was well equipped. I liked the location on the island, private but close to the shore and to town(we rented bikes).
It's only a 15min walk to town. We always bring our car over and park at the house but never use it until we have to leave. Meghan gave quick responses to all our questions. We enjoyed our stay and will rent here again!

Beautiful home
We loved staying in this house. It was out first time on Peaks. We were here for our daughter's wedding at the Peaks Inn. It was a wonderful week. The house had everything you could possibly need for a week away from home. The beds were very comfortable and are supplied with linens. The bathroom was spacious and there is no shortage of hot water. The loft upstairs could sleep up to six or seven people with loads of room. The kitchen is fully supplied with everything you need. It was a short walk to the ocean, and we rented a golf cart for trips around the island and into town. Meghan is a wonderful hostess and responds to all your inquiries. We would definitely choose to stay here again. Thanks, Meghan!!

Great space
We were on the island for my son's wedding. The home was really cute and spacious. There was room for the family 6 of us to spread out. The loft is really big and the beds were comfortable. Meghan was great at getting back to me when we needed her help. The house is quite a ways from the Ferry, and restaurants. We brought our car because we needed to have one. There is a taxi service, golf cart rentals and the house came with bikes so if you needed to you could come without a car but parking is so expensive on the main land your better off paying the car fee which was only 89.00 round trip, that includes the driver. All other passengers pay the passenger fee. The area where the house is, is quiet and the neighbors are all so nice and friendly. It is a short walk to the shore. I would recommend this home highly. Thank you Meghan for letting us stay at the property

My husband and I enjoyed our two week stay in this sweet island cottage. It is very private and peaceful and so near the ocean. The deck was especially welcome and enjoyable!

A definite yes
The house was perfect for us. The island was peaceful. September is a great time to be there, very subdued, yet everything was open, restaurants, ice cream shops. The walking trail around the island is wonderful. We will be back!

Wonderful stay on Peaks
We had a great time out on Peaks island. The house was great and perfect for our family. The view from upstairs was really nice looking out over whitehead passage. My 3-1/2 year old loved the bunk bed and swing out front. The deck out front was perfect for happy hour or just relaxing.

Great Family Cottage!
We had a wonderful week at Peaks staying in Meghan's cottage. Her communication was prompt and helpful and the check in /check out process was smooth. The house was perfect for our family of four. For a smaller cottage, the layout is great and provides lots of different sleeping arrangements that would work for different sized groups. It's in a perfect location to explore Peaks, we rented a golf cart for the week which our kids loved and it made it easy to get around. The kitchen was clean and very well stocked. We arranged a food delivery from Whole Foods in Portland, which made stocking up very easy. The wi-fi connection was very strong, so we had no problems working from the island. We missed not having a bathtub, which made bathing our kids (who hate showers) a little difficult. But we made it work! Our kids (3&7) were VERY excited about the fabulous tree swing outside and it got a lot of use. Overall, this cottage is a great spot to spend a week with our kids... we'd definitely go back! Thanks Meghan for sharing your wonderful Peaks home with us.

Fun had by all!
We had a great stay on Peaks Island. The property on Winding Way was exactly as advertised, very clean and conveniently located. Our family, included our 4 year-old, was able to bike to the restaurants and beaches all week without ever having to use our car. We were sad to leave but excited to come back to the island next year! Might be a no-brained but definitely check the revised Summer ‘20 ferry schedule and plan accordingly.

Perfect in every way!
Amazing week! This piece of paradise has everything you could possibly need or want! It’s all in the little things, and this home is filled with so many wonderful little things❤️ Peaks island is a special place, but having a sanctuary to call home for a week makes it even better. Beach fires, pier jumping, lobsters, crashing ocean waves, and scrabble on the deck....need I say more!

Location
Way too far to walk from the ferry with luggage, and I would suggest bringing your car because it’s cheaper than the parking garage in Portland.

Charming, Clean, and Perfectly Located
My family and I enjoyed a relaxing get-away at Meghan’s Peak’s Island cottage. Meghan is a perfect and conscientious host and was available for any questions/assistance throughout our visit. In fact, her responses to questions were even quicker than expected. The cottage was bright and spotless when we arrived with the appropriate linens folded on each bed. It was immediate clear that this was a well-cared-for retreat for a lucky family! The sunny master bedroom had more than enough closet and drawer space. The upstairs loft was perfect for 3 high school boys to have their own space. As a cook, I found the open kitchen well equipped and lovely to work in as the boys sat at the island for breakfast and lunches. The outside grill was a nice size for meat and veggies prepared all together. The neighborhood is quiet but friendly. The 10PM “quiet time” is absolutely appropriate. The “kids” found a campfire site along the water nearby and, after easily obtaining a permit via website, made s’mores one evening with other friends visiting the Peaks.
We brought our car to the island making it easy to bring our groceries and luggage to the house. It was actually less expensive to bring the car on the ferry than to park in Portland! After that, it never moved until packing up and leaving! Although the cottage is conveniently within walking distance to “town” and the ferry, we rented a golf cart for the week. This made exploring a bit more fun, especially for the teens (fyi..need driver’s license) who spent a lot of time fishing on the Backshore and swimming at the Sandy Beach.
The ferry made it convenient for a couple of visits to Portland as well as entertain a few friends from the Portland area for a lobster feast (with very fresh lobsters from the lobster shack right at the island ferry dock). Throughout the week, we purchased additional groceries and supplies at Hannigan’s Market and did not find the prices as outrageous as expected being on an island. Hannigan’s also makes a great “Maine Italian” sandwich which I miss back home in NJ. Lunch with a friend on the back deck at Cockeyed Gull was a bit pricy but well-worth the treat! The teens really enjoyed their “night out” for dinner at Island Lobster Company which, for the adults, has an awesome selection of summer cocktails!
All in all, we had a terrific week on Peaks Island in this charming, clean, and perfectly-located cottage. And, Meghan could not have been a more attentive and thoughtful host!

Perfect week
We loved our stay here and can't wait to be back next summer. The cottage is an easy walk to town and a stone's throw from the back shore. Meghan was quick to reply with any questions and concerns I had before and during our trip. Thank you for letting us stay in your little slice of paradise! Until next summer, Peaks!

Perfect spot for a week on Peaks
The cottage is very bright and roomy. It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. The counters had dirt and crumbs behind the items on the counter. The baseboards looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while and the floor wasn’t the cleanest. I left the cottage cleaner than I found it.
That being said it was fairly spacious and very bright. The location was great, only 3/4ths of a mile from the ferry and extremely close to one of my favorite beaches.
After finding numerous DVDs we were surprised and a little disappointed there was no player.
All in all we enjoyed the stay.
