Great stay with beachfront location, accommodating host, and fun activities nearby. Highly recommend!
4.0
While in a great location for us, the house itself was extremely disappointing. We arrived to discover that there is a unit downstairs that is used by the owners. Therefore we did not have access to the shaded areas downstairs in the yard. They had numerous visitors coming with large cars coming in the yeard which was a concerns with our small kids. The family were also sitting outside smoking which affected our use of the balcony in the evening.
The upstairs unit was ok. However many flyscreens were broken, despite being eaten alive by mosquitos, this is also a significant safety issue with small kids as it left an upstairs window with no barrier.
There is only one fan for the 4 bedrooms which during the hot weather a fan for each room would be beneficial.
The kitchen supplies are absolute bare minimum. There is no shade on the balcony at all, so only really able to use in the evening.
I would normally overlook some of these small things, but our whole stay was tainted by the family staying below.
This is an upstairs unit not a house!

Great beach view
Overall we had a nice stay at this property. The kids had fun and the beach was pretty much in front of the house. Josie was really nice and very accommodating with our needs.
Once flatscreens are installed and cover of some sort on the balcony to have alittle shade from the heat it would be great. We will go back again . Thanks Josie and Paul

Good
This accommodation is only meters away from the waters and a walking track which made the stay very relaxing. Great for morning and evening walks and to watch sunset.
The house has a spacious lounge and dining areas and a long verandah with a view of the ocean. The beds are comfortable and the furniture are in good condition. Overall a good place to stay to unwind and relax. However, there were a few disappointments which the owners can easily address:
1. Kitchen is poorly equipped e.g. no dishwashing liquid provided.
2. No basic toiletries e.g. hand-soap or handwash.
3. Insufficient toilet paper which we had to request.
4. Some of the windows looked like they haven’t been cleaned for a while.
Our biggest disappointment was when we reported the basin in the bathroom was partially blocked making the water flow very slowly to the extent that it practically became unusable, there was no response from the owner. We stayed 3 nights -so we had to suffer this inconvenience during the entire stay, which was a particular problem in the mornings.
Some general comments about the location and its surrounds which others may find helpful:
The pristine St . Leonard’s beach is only a 15 min drive and St Leonard’s hotel/pub has a good lunch menu and friendly staff.
A few cafes/restaurants on Newcombe street only 6 min drive, where you can get great coffee and also good choice of lunch or dinner.
St. Leonard’s salt lagoon is worth a visit, if you don’t mind the smell at the approach.
We would recommend this accommodation if the owners take some care to address the items we mentioned above.

Spacious place with poor amenities
Shower drain was blocked,
fly screens were ripped and we couldn't open the windows.
Place was full of dust and spider Webb's and spiders were in the room.
No bins in the bathrooms and no cleaning products were in the kitchen.

Great Location
This stay was presented clean and tidy, it gives a nice boutique hotel feeling but with enough space and utilities for decent sized groups.
Right on the the beach with beautiful views and a 25 minute walk into town along a nice beach trail. This property was a great fit for my group of friends and I to celebrate NYE 2021.
The host always had great communication, we spoke many times, in person and over the phone, excellent service and super friendly.
Would stay here again!

Wedding celebrations
We stayed for 3 nights at this property prior to and during the festivities of our daughter’s wedding at Terindah Estate. Josie and her family could not have been more welcoming leaving us a bottle of champagne and treats bringing us champagne flutes- so all our bridal party could celebrate in style as we prepared, had our hair and make-up done with this sensational backdrop of the water right in front of us. We had photos on the balcony. Rooms were fabulous, each with their own sea view and bathrooms and kitchen clean modern and perfect for our needs. I highly recommend this property. We had a wonderful time!

Ok location but disappointing experience
It was an ok location, yes easy access to the beach, but the beach was smelly and not really somewhere I would swim. Having said that, that isn't the owners fault. What I found disappointing however was the price and what we got. The view was lovely, but the place overall was dusty and dirty with sand all over the floors, even though the cleaner was supposedly there before us. Not even anything to clean dishes with or any basic milk or coffee that you get in our places and you pay 1/2 the price with just as lovely views.
The owners told me 1 day before check in that they would be staying below. The whole time they were outside with constant visitors, so no real freedom for us to use the grassland, we felt more comfortable across the road and the reserve to kick the footy. Also they had the dog, which overall was quiet but barked when people would pass. Disappointing that it didn't feel like a place where we couldnt really be alone.l and relax without feeling watched. There was only one key for all of us to share, I had to ask for a second key, but was told that it usually isn't provided, but was happy to give it to us, so accommodating but I would suggest they get another key at least! There was one fan that we all had to share, for the four bedrooms that was extremely disappointing, considering that we paid a fortune for the property. No Linnen or towels, which was mentioned in the listing, and really can't fault that, but the dooner covers were so dusty. So much for hygiene during covid! . Very disappointing and wouldn't stay there again. The owners were nice, but not honest with their listing.

Overwhelmingly disappointed!!!!!!!
Apart from the water views, there is nothing good to say about this property. It looks and feels very much a long deserted house, cold and unwelcome. Grasses were long, and rubbish were laying around. Apart from spider webs and thousands and thousands of flying insects waiting to get in with us or into us (if we speak), it provides nothing, not even a spare rubbish bin in a bathroom, or enough toilet rolls for the guests. And not even a small carton of milk. We were not certain whether we went to the correct property. There was no communication regarding check-in etc. For the one night price of $$$, it was a total rip-off. Would not recommend to anyone. It is truly a horrible experience in a (feel-like) haunting house. Bad!

Very quiet and peaceful
A great house, as advertised. The host was a great communicator and made the check-in process very easy. The house was clean and the views are spectacular. Very enjoyable after a long day on the golf course. We will be back in the future.

Perfect canvas for any holiday, just close enough to town but far enough from the holiday crowds... boat ramp conveniently located 200 metres from the front door.Rooms are spacious and every room has an amazing view. There is a children’s park located 400m away and the beach is literally on your door step. We have the privilege of meeting the owners family who stayed in their apartment downstairs while we were there and shared some cooking tips.If staying in summer and you get very hot would recommend bringing a fan for the bedroom. We had a great stay and are planning to go back again next month.

Quick stay not what we thought.
For the price per night definitely not worth the money.
Had to take our own bed linen and towels.
House smelt of smoke when turned on air conditioner.
Bins full of rubbish and drinks left in the fridge.
Overall not what we expected.

Fantastic view from the balcony overlooking the bay, great sunset photos to the left, and pier boat ramp to the right.Spacious floorplan with a huge dining table to fit everyone. Another toilet would've been great but with the view and location, other faults are easily forgotten. The Property Manager was helpful and understanding - making our stay a breeze!Great house, I will definitely stay there again.

A great location...but other aspects fell short of expectations
The house is in a brilliant location overlooking the water and about 2km walk to the main street - a really lovely walk along the water. However a couple of things detracted from our experience. Firstly, we arrived to find people at the house, cars and boats in the front yard - we found out they were staying on the ground floor - we had no idea there were two separate 'properties' within the one house. The description on Stayz makes no mention whatsoever of this, and the owner didn't advise us of that. We paid a lot for the property and just assumed we had the whole house. It was fine, but would have been nice to have known about this beforehand. The house itself (upstairs only) was big and spacious with spectacular views - but it didn't look to have been cleaned very well at all. The floors were sandy and there was a bit of rubbish underneath beds. Even more disappointing was that there was not a single roll of toilet paper in either of the two toilets! Even little things like no washing up liquid, no tea towels (we had to take all of our own linen), no ironing board and we were surprised there was no dishwasher. There was also no doona for the single bed and we had to call to request one. So yes we had a lovely time but for the price we paid, we just expected a little more.

Beautiful views and great for families
Our stay was just a stopover before hitting the great ocean road. It was conveniently located and the views were amazing! The outdoor balcony was massive and relaxing!!! There is a beautiful walk past the car park to get to the other side where a coffee shop and cafe is located, as well as swings for the kids (about a 15 min walk along the water).
The rental house area is one level (up stairs -entry from the rear of the house). It was a great size and open floor plan which made it feel very spacious. The place was clean and tidy with ample seating for guests. The kitchen was a good size and the fridge was a great size too. There was cleaning products provided and basic cooking utensils. There was wifi available and Netflix for the kids. The showers were a good size and one room had an en-suite which made this a little more private! BYO soap for vanity as this wasn’t supplied. The bedrooms had locks to the doors which was a bonus!
Many of the bedroom windows didn’t have screens which was a bit unfortunate (being a hot time of the year we wanted to open the windows- we had to lock the doors to prevent kids from getting into the rooms with open windows). There was a lot of mosquitos (especially because of the absence of screens) so remember the spray!!! There were also a lot of spiderwebs (understandable given the location).
The house is beautifully located with only a short walk across to the beach. No noise from any neighbours- truely a relaxing place to stay. Ample back yard space for the kids to run around. A gate to keep ur cars secured at night and plenty of parking.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with and advised in advanced that own linen was required. The owner has a great amount of knowledge about Melbourne and surrounding areas and was so very helpful in offering suggestions for our travelling and stop off points.
Would definitely recommend this place. Whilst it has quite simple facilities and the layout and design is simple and not cluttered, it’s simplicity is what makes this a nice place to stay. Would loved to have stayed longer.

Great location, perfect for large groups!
We had a great time in Portarlington over New Years. The house was in a great spot, clean and was comfortable for 8 adults. I would recommend this property to any group wanting a get away. This is a shared property and you have the entire upstairs area, downstairs maybe occupied by someone else. There is a small electric BBQ & you will need to BYO linen. Lots of close by wineries to enjoy and an easy walk into town,
