It is larger than I thought. Very close to the lake & close to coffee shop, many restaurants & the plaza. Great to walk many places.

Great Rental in Ajijic
This place is great. Fully equipped kitchen, hands on management, comfy bed. Weekly maid service and bottled water also included. A bonus was the cat who visited almost every morning. A big thanks to Tom and Francisco!

SPECIAL PLACE!
Casa Barbara is a very special place! We spent three months there this year. Ricardo, Tom, and the employees at Barbara's Bazaar were all very helpful and accommodating. The location is perfect - near the malecon and plaza. Our summer there was a great experience! Vince and Carolyn

As advertised, comfortable and roomy, no problems, gracious and helpful host and staff.
My review title says it all. Would not hesitate to return.

Quiet, cozy and friendly in the village, near the lake
We stayed here four weeks and enjoyed every moment. Ricardo and everyone that helped us while we were there were wonderful, welcoming and enhanced our enjoyment.
Everything we needed to enjoy our stay was provided. If it wasn't there at first, all we needed to do was make our needs known and it was taken care of immediately (or so it seemed).
The bedroom is in the back away from the street so it was usually very quiet even through we left the entrance to the back garden open most of the time with only the screen doors closed to keep out mosquitoes.
We would choose to stay here again or recommend it to others without hesitation.
Lastly, a commendation and shout out to "Kayta" who once a week came to tidy up our dwelling with diligence and happiness. Even though we could not understand much of each others language we communicated with hand gestures, smiles and laughter.

Cozy quiet place in the center of the Ajijic activities. Car not needed to enjoy your stay,
It was very old authentic Mexican house with garden in the rear. Since I have lived Mexico before, I was pleasantly surprised . The host was very nice and attentive to our needs.

perfect in every way
I just can’t say enough about this home or it’s owners. We have stayed there for extended stays twice. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else while In ajijic. On the outside it’s so beautiful that several times I have opened the front door and they are doing photo shoots with models. Strangers walking by stop and take pictures and talk to me about the front of the home and how it was done. The inside is just as magical with blue and white hand painted tile , Adobe walls with arched doors and traditional Mexican colors. Everything is welcoming, comfortable and beautiful. A huge master bedroom , a large dining room , living room ( whole home ) has beautiful furnishings from the owners store and a fully equipped kitchen with gas range. Full of light , windows and skylights. The back yard has a large fountain, a covered patio with dining furniture and amazing plants . Everything in this house is just as pictured. The owners are available anytime you need them . They go out of there way to make sure anything you need is provided. I really can’t emphasize how special the both of them make you feel while you are staying at their wonderful Casita. I will miss them and their wonderful home and can’t thank them enough.

Delighful experience
Having never been to the Lake Chapala area, I was pleasantly surprised by the house and its location. It gave me the real experience of living in an authentic downtown pueblo/Mexican village. The resident cat in the backyard was an added bonus. "Nina" was delightful and very affectionate.
I would stay there again. even if it was a bit noisy over the Easter celebrations.

Great place!
We love Ajijic and loved Casa Barbara. The house is not so small as described and the location is unbeatable. The private garden out back was beautiful and we enjoyed being out there every day.The owners and staff are right next door at Barbara’s Bazaar and always available to answer questions. We would certainly rebook for next year if it was available

Our great Introduction to Mexico
Spent six weeks in this traditional homely Casa in Ajijic whilst getting to know the area and Mexican way of life. At the end of this time, we were sad to leave as the place felt like home.
We were welcomed and supported through our stay by our splendid hosts Ricardo and Thomas, who also invited us to a splendid New Years party “midnight in Paris” at their wonderful restaurant “Chez Charracate”.
Ajijic was all we expected and more, so much so that we are now committed to a long term rental in the town.

A Delightful Oasis
I stayed in this very cool little house for a year to see if Ajijic would be my forever home. Casa Barbara is right in the middle of everything ... half block from the street where you'll find restaurants, art galleries and great shops. One block from the malecon for quiet morning walks along the lake and fabulous sunsets in the evening. The main plaza with all of the festivities is a five minute walk away. Tom and Ricardo have to be the best landlords one could ever wish for. They and their staff responded to my every need or request right away and with the utmost courtesy. Oh, and that "rooster from hell" that someone wrote about? He's long gone and the "girls" rise at a civilized hour! Thank you Tom and Ricardo for making my stay so special and for helping me fall in love with Ajijic!

Great location
This Little Village Home exceeded our expectations as it was described. Most of all was the location. It was within a couple of blocks of the things we wanted: excellent restaurants, the malecon, the Lake Chapala Society, the plaza and small shops for our needs. We could walk to everything including the bus so a car wasn't needed. We couldn't believe how solicitous to our needsTom and Ricardo and their staff were. And it was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in. We wished we could have stayed longer. Our only disappointment was that it already had been rented for the next year.

Perfect place to relax!
Location, location, location! This little gem of a house is tucked away just two blocks from the malecon and the magnificent waterfront park that adjoins it. There's no better place for lake views and early morning strolls. Everything in the Ajijic village is close by: shops, bars, restaurants, etc. Despite its central location, the house is surprisingly quiet. The private rear garden is an oasis of tranquility and on a clear night, you'll see millions of stars. The house is impeccably clean and has everything you need. A big plus was the personal welcome of the owner who took time to recommend nearby restaurants and points of interest. For total relaxation and being close to everything, we thoroughly recommend this charming little house behind an ivy wall. We look forward to a return visit!

very comfortable, pleasant people, great location
Micaela, Ricardo and Tom were very pleasant to deal with and helpful with me to find my way around the village. The casita was surprisingly large with a fully equipped kitchen, awesome cook range, and plenty of appliances. The king size bed was the most comfortable I have slept in apart from my own. Out the back was a private, quiet, lush garden with a covered patio area.
The casita is located in the village and everything is within walking distance. Yes there are roosters crowing in the morning, but it is not intrusive, in fact, it is like having the country in the city.
I would recommend it to anyone.

Review of Casa Barbara
Very nice. My only concern was the noise level from the workshop next door and from the street. That is because I was doing work that required a high level of concentration. Despite that, I enjoyed the stay very much.

The rooster from hell
The photos do not do this property justice. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. It is very well kept and right in the center of everything that goes on in Ajijic. It is a short walk to the taxi stand at the square and close to bus stops as well so you really don’t need a car. We were greater well upon arrival and the owner has a very helpful “instruction book” which outlines some of services in the town and things that are available to you through them. Our stay would have been excellent had it not been for the rooster. The thing is we knew about the rooster from a previous review but we thought it would not be a problem as we wanted to rise early anyway. It crowed at 1:30 am and every hour after until around 7 am every damn day. We were nearly beside ourselves and ended up cutting our stay there short by a week. I can’t believe that with such a beautiful location (and money maker) the owner placed rooster revenue over the real-estate portion of his business. The property, how it is kept, and location is absolutely second to none but all is forgotten when the rooster crows. Make sure it is dead before you rent there.

Charming!
I enjoyed my stay in Casa Barbara. It is a charming little casita, well located to walk to the lake, shops and town square. It is comfortable and welcoming. While in Ajijic, I felt as tho I had gone back to a simpler time and place, very friendly and pleasant. Weather, of course, was great! I would definitely recommend it!
