I loved everything about Rivera Del Rio! Beautiful views, excellent staff (special shoutout to Jesus and Carolina), the room and hotel were just breathtaking. We felt very safe and welcomed by the surrounding locals! Walking distance to so many things - including the beach.
No complaints - would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Staff were nice and welcoming.
They have a nice rooftop pool.
Walking distance to the Zona Romantica and a lot of restaurants too.
The room we stayed (Green Room) was an old room. It had a black and green theme, which was ok for the room walls but not for the toilet(black colour) and bathtub(green) as it may potentially hide any dirts. The bathtub had an odd smell coming off from the hole also. It wasn’t so bad but could be better. The floor also is black. I get the boutique theme they tried to give the room, but the sanitary wears should be white.

We liked everything about this place. The Silver room exceeded expectations. This will be our new favorite home away from home. We live in Boca but come and stay at affordable hotels locally. This is now one of our top 5 hotels in PV.
Loved it all. Excelente room and Parking was a huge bonus!!

The decoration and the multiple pools are amazing

The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the hotel was so cute and comfortable. The scarlet room is narrow and it was a little difficult to navigate, but it stayed cool and the hotel amenities were great!
We did not like how narrow our room was. The refrigerator was tucked into a nook that we had to shimmy pass the bed for.

Absolutely loved the charm and history of this gem! The staff were very welcoming and so helpful during our entire stay. Each room has its own name and unique character. The beds were very cozy, not too hard or soft. Our view of Gringo Gulch and the ocean was amazing. I loved hearing the many birds in this very quiet and peaceful part of town. We especially enjoyed the infinity pool next to the rooftop cabana where Jerry took great care of us. I would definitely stay here again!
Nothing at all!

The staff were wonderful and always eager to please. This place is so beautiful and unique. It's full of interesting artwork and a joyous space to spend every moment.

The uniqueness of the place. We stayed in the Candelaria suite. I chose that over anything contemporary. Great location.
Water pressure one night was very low and the toilet wouldn't flush.

Rooftop pool has awesome views, I love the art. The staff was great and so is the location.

After a very disappointing experience with the "Cortez" suite, we asked for a normal hotel room. We were given such room and we are thankful for that to the administration, though with a caveat, that we were not compensated for the difference in the price.
After our move to the "Josephine" room, everything was pretty good. The room was very convenient, modern and clean. With a beautiful view from the roomy balcony.
Also, we liked a lot the roof pool and the view from there.
So our experience is very mixed, very disappointing with the "Cortez" suite and rather positive with “Josephine”.
Our understanding is that there are 2 rather different types of accommodations - one in the old (historic) part of the hotel and the modern one in the newly built tower.
I would be very cautious about staying in the old part of the hotel.
We have had a very mixed experience with this hotel. We booked a "Cortez" suite for the party of 3, as we wanted a bigger than standard room accommodation and were hoping to prepare our own food.
As it turned out our son could not go, so 2 of us me and my wife went. Cortez suite turned out to be not what we expected. Though it was roomy and had a character it was unliveable otherwise.
The problem that we encountered:
There are no windows to the outside at all. The only window that is available is combined with the entrance door and opens to the corridor.
There are some partially closed openings to the surrounding areas, that light up at night when the staff goes about their chores
There is an air conditioning unit that serves the whole hotel that is a couple of meters away from the entrance. It is very loud and was a big nuisance for me and my wife.
Besides the structural and situational problems with the unit, it was totally not prepared for our stay:
The hot water was not working
Dirt was present on the bookshelf
Old candelabras had old burned-out candles
There were no pots and pans, no kettle and other kitchen stuff necessary for cooking
After spending one night in this suite we realized that it is impossible to stay there (my wife was exhausted after a sleepless night (due to loud noises from the air conditioner, stuff and light turning on and off). So we asked for another normal hotel room.

It is a great place to stay. And the bonus is there is parking and they accept well behaved pets. Grant at the front desk was exceptional and he provided restaurant suggestions that were absolutely delightful. His assistant alone will bring us back to stay whenever we are in PV.
The pool pump was noisy outside Mariposa but the room was so sweet it was hard to complain.

Romantic, beautiful ,interesting history of the building itself. Very friendly staff, and cute cats in residence. The infinity pool is beautiful and open 24/7. It's nice and quiet away from the partiers but you can walk to the beach via the Isla in about 15-18 min depending on how slow you meander. Soco nearby for breakfast, the pancakes are surprisingly good.
I wish there were shade umbrellas by the hot tub. The view is beautiful and would be nice to just watch the sunset from the seats (or tub) but it's nuclear hot without any shade, even at that hour.

Staff very friendly and helpful.
Old building with some updates/modifications but very clean
Comfy beds
In a residential part of town but still within walking distance of all the stuff
Quiet facilities, some street/neighborhood noise as to be expected but not any crazy late night party noise

The property, including the room was beautiful and unique. The infinity pool was spectacular. Food and drinks were excellent.
Service levels varied depending on which staff were working. In the Medusa room, at night, super loud persistent noise. Although it seemed to be coming from outside the room, closing the bathroom door helped considerably.

Loved how unique the hotel is. Each room is it's own character. We stayed in the Candalaria room (the pink room.) It has three levels. The top level has the kitchen and your own private patio that is adjacent to the green pool. It was so relaxing! The main floor has the bedroom and bathroom. There is an extra stairway that leads directly to the street "behind" the hotel-this is actually the main street you use to go everywhere. The front on the hotel is on a tiny street right on the river. The hotel is located close to everything, but far enough away to not be disturbed by street/tourist/party noise (and our room is right on the street!) There is an adults-only, heated infinitity pool and bar on the top floor with beautiful views. There is also a hot tub right above our room. It is not very hot, but it has beautiful vies and it very relaxing. We purchased breakfast one day we were there, and it was good, but I recommend exploring the neighborhood and trying a variety of things. You are close to a ton of more local things since it's several blocks from the main tourist drag. This is a great place for couples. Although it is kid friendly, it's not ideal for really small children. If you have mobility issues, check with them first to see which rooms would be best for you-our's wouldn't work because of all the stairs. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. They always went above and beyond. Now for the best part-lobby cats! Elizabeth was always in her throne and allowed pets from guests. Such a chill kitty!
The plumbing was pretty noisy. I sleep with headphones and my husband passed out from exhaust every night, so it really didn't effect us. We would stay there again in a heart beat.

Beautiful room. Breakfast was wonderful. Easy walking distance to restaurants and beach. Will stay again.

The property is small and intimate, which is preferable over a large resort. In a good location that is central to town. The staff was very personable and helpful.
Food prices were on the higher side.

location was great,staff was excellent
did not like our room at all, stuffy, bathroom was too rustic for the price we paid for the room

Loved the balcony with river view, the heated plung pool on the roof, the hot tub, the unique and fun decorations thruout the hotel, the walk along the island to the malecon, the friendly employees and manager,
Our room with king bed was a little tight. And there was not much space for luggage. The safe did not work.
4.5 / 5.0
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I absolutely loved my room and the breakfast. The location is tranquil yet close to everything in the Zona Romantica. The decoration is super fun and quirky. Truly a unique experience!
It was difficult to get a seat at either of the two pools- not enough chairs for every guest due to space limitations of the building.
