Staff spoke good English, very centrally located close to a food court and in walking distance to downtown sights. A coin laundry is available as well as guided tours to the national parks and other attractions around Zhangye. We would stay here again.

Lovely place run by lovely people. Easy to arrange tours of local highlights

Very cute interiors and very easy to spot from the outside. After booking the room, the hotel stuff contacted me first to ask about details of my arrival, stay, give me instructions on how to get to the hotel. It was very easy to contact them. The hotel offers trips to the most common places of interest in reasonable prices and is happy to help you with any inquiries. Located very close to the Dafo Temple and Zhangye Museum. Also offers warm tea at the reception desk for free 😊. The room was small but cozy.
The room lacked another source of light except of the main, bright one. We had a kettle but no tea was offered, which I thought was a bit strange. The room can get a little hot.

A very organized backpacker hostel with a cheap place to stay and excellent tour organizing to make things stress free
The beds are a bit uncomfortable and all sounds in the hallway echo quite loudly into the rooms.

The breakfast was in a small restaurant. There a lot of them around the hotel, very cheap and tasty.
In the hotel, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They wrote me in Chinese a few phrases which I used later, to get the colored mountains and airport. The double room (for 121 yuans per night) was very clean.
The toilet paper was absent in the toilet.

Sta ff are all so helpful and genuinely kind. they provided free trips to and from the train station.
They organise tours to tourist attractions with their own vehicles and drivers, price is lower than tours in the market.
We rented a whole 7-seat vehicle from them, including a driver. The driver took us into the Mati Grottos - inside the gate, all the way, saved a lot of walking. The driver is a long term employee with them, he knows the separated sites within Mati Grottos.
The location is fantastic. There are 2 big supermarkets within 5min walking. One of them is located within a big shopping mall, where you can get restaurant food from level 5 and street food at level 1. The "street food" is actually inside the shopping mall, not actually in the street.
Also you can read many travel stories/friendship/recoveries from breakups etc on the wall.... the owners left the wall open to travellers to write and draw... it was a good fun to read them.....

Everything was clean, staff was super nice, really cute place with drawings and texts from previous guests on the wall. They spontaneously organized a driver to get us from the train station.

It is so very good hostel. Only 15 minutes from train station and surrounded by local market and stree foods. The owners are so kind, helpful and friendly which makes me feel at home. Should take tour from hostel. It is cheap and convienient. Also can have owner arrange cab to train station. It is more cheap than taking Didi or taxi. Love everything!

After 7 years in China, I can say this is one of my favourite hostels in the country. It feels as a family stay at times because owners are so nice. Rooms are comfy, WiFi is reliable, situation is good and their excursions are good value.

Personal was amazingly friendly, felt more like a hotel than a hostel!

The hotel and location were great, but the stand-alone aspect was the staff. The manager, Eric, gave me his personal wechat, came and checked on how we were, organized train station pick up, early check in, late check out, and just generally took amazing care of us. He is a true manager trained in making guests have a memorable stay. Thank you, Eric, and all staff at Silk Road Dunhuang. I will definitely recommend this hotel.
Perhaps the breakfast choices regarding Western food choices could be better, but really there is very little to improve. This was a great hotel

The location was perfect and the staff very helpful and nice: they arranged the tour for us before arriving and helped out with train tickets:everything was super easy! Next time we will choose this hostel again, it was a pity we stayed just one night!

The staff at the hostel was super nice and accommodating. Helped us arrange trips to Rainbow mountains and Pinghushan Grand Canyon and offered a real good price on the transfer to get there. The hostel is located two minutes walk from a food market with great food. Would definitely stay here again.

The hostel owners were very kind people and the hostel organized transportation was very convenient for visiting all the main sights surrounding Zhangye - Rainbow Mountains, Pingshanhu Canyon, Mati Temple, etc. I had a great time visiting the stunning natural beauty around Zhangye. There is also a food market and some good restaurants 100m away from the hostel.
Facilities are basic, but not unexpected.

It’s very well located close to the food market and walking distance to the Dafo temple and the pagoda. Very clean and nice atmosphere and the staff are very helpful and speak English. They help booking the tours round the city.

Great services - the lady on the front desk who worked during the afternoons I was there was super friendly and very helpful. She spoke great English, and helped me decide what to do during my stay. I stayed in a single room, which was clean, warm and well equipped (hairdryer, kettle, shampoo etc.) Felt like a real hotel, not a hostel! Drinking water on tap and a fridge to use in the shared kitchen. The location is perfect, 10 minutes walk from the Dafo temple and airport bus, and round the corner from a huge food market. The organised car-sharing is a great middle ground between guided tours and solo travel - it takes the stress and expense out of visiting these far away places.
I would have preferred breakfast to be offered, as I don't like to venture out to find food before I've eaten! Beds are quite hard, but nothing unusual for China. Mainly, I think the visit to the Rainbow Mountains should be longer - as that's probably the reason most people stay here. We arrived at 3:30, but by the time I actually got my ticket and got into the park, it was 4:30, and we were meeting again at 6:30. (Just missed the sunset, too.) It was not enough time to see half the park, so I had to go back another day by myself.

I was impressed by how organized they are to help with tours, taxi arrangement, surrounding information and where to eat. Close to street food and Dafo temple. I stayed in private room and it was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hostel to anyone going to Zhangye! One of the best hostels I have stayed in my life.

Very convenient location. the room was clean and comfortable with reverse aircon heater. staff is nice. There are not a lot of hotels accepting foreigners in Zhangye these days and it is one of them.
the corridor between rooms is a bit noisy.
4.8 / 5.0
1)Single bed was 12" wider than normal and room was a good size;
2) Wide corridor between rooms, and clean toilets, showers and sink. At least 2 western toilet.
3) Can either hand wash or machine wash clothes with area to hang dry.
4) Pick up from train station if more than 2 people.
5) Arranged transportation to the various places of interest at reasonable prices;
6) With walking distance to eateries and food mart.
7) Responsive and helpful front desk staff.
Nothing.

The staff was really nice and helpful. They organise trips to the rainbow mountain at a really cheap price.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, and so the bathrooms. There is a nice social area.
For being perfect, they should also offer a breakfast service. Anyway there is a food market nearby.
4.4 / 5.0
Availability of the staff, specially offering watermelon and organising tours with private driver. Availability of the kitchen. Uncomfortable beds and pillows
English pronunciation sometimes difficult to understand. Bad smell in the bathrooms.
