Recently renovated, the accommodation comprises an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, three bedrooms and a bathroom (with a stand-alone bath and separate shower). One bedrooms is on the ground floor and can be configured with either single or double beds. Two bedrooms are on the first floor. These are attic bedrooms with lovely views and can be configured as single or double beds. We provide everything you'll need for a comfortable stay - Linens and towels are included - and we leave those little things you'll need - such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bin bags, tea towels - in your cottage so you don't need to worry about bringing everything with you.
The terrace at the back of the property overlooks stunning countryside and beautiful gardens and comes complete with a Webber BBQ and outdoor furniture.
We welcome pets - and provide them with their own (darker) towels and welcome pack. We also have fenced fields for them to run around in!
Derwent cottage is one of five cottages that we have on the property, but its sufficiently private for you to feel you are getting away from it all. We do have some communal facilities for you enjoy - such as the Games Room with a table tennis table and extensive DVD collection, a tennis court and a children's play area.
From the cottage you can step straight out onto the many public footpaths that cross the Derbyshire countryside. You can walk directly from our land on the path around Carsington Water (ideal for walking and cycling), the nearest country pub is a 1 mile walk across the fields and you can walk to the market town of Wirksworth over the fields is less than 30 minutes.
Before you arrive you will receive a comprehensive information pack detailing all the activities that you can do in the area. We also provide an online shopping service should you want to stock your cottage with local produce. And through our partnerships with local attractions, we can offer discount tickets to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Museum and Matlock Farm Park.

Wonderful weekend and perfect location!
We stayed in Derwent cottage with two other couples and we all absolutely loved it! All the double bedrooms were a good size and the open plan kitchen and sitting room were great for our evening meals. We had a bbq one evening looking out over the lovely fields full of sheep!
Joanne even left us our own tennis rackets and table tennis bats! We absolutely loved the games room and spent hours playing table tennis one evening.
Great walks right on the doorstep around Carsington Water and it’s only a short drive to some lovely villages and walking routes around the Peak District.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay Joanne!

Thank you for a wonderful stay from start to finish Tim and Joanne. What a stunning setting the cottage is in and we felt very relaxed whilst in the cottage itself. The ping pong room is a fun little addition and the quality of the fittings in the cottage itself is a testament to the owners' eye for detail. In my opinion ambassadors for HomeAway! Thanks again, Mat

Very comfortable well apponted cottages in lovely convenient location with very friendly hosts
Cottages were well appointed, spacious and very comfortable for long or short stay. Each has parking at the door, and a back private garden patio
overlooking a pond and fields beyond.
The common games room had a great selection of books, DVDs and a ping pong table.
Stainsborough is a beautiful proprty with lovely gardens, and is so convenient to Wirksworth and all the sights of Derbyshire.
Tim and Joanne were very friendly easy going hosts, who as a bonus sell their own excellent ,and very good value, French wine.
We will definitely be back for future visits to our daughter and family nearby.

Very nice property, lovely to have playroom and tennis court, and easy access to the outdoors. Could do with slightly brighter lights in the living room, for reading in the evenings!

Fantastic cottage, beautiful countryside
A wonderful short stay- a beautiful cottage and well equipped, with very understanding and kind owners. Lots to do in the local area- we could certainly have stayed a lot longer! The local area is beautiful, both children and adults loved it. Recommended most highly!!

Idyllic setting, beautiful cottage & very helpful owners.
Excellent, high quality accommodation in a marvellous setting. Games room great facility for some good old fashioned family fun especially when weather not behaving. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is due to lack of mirrors in the particular cottage we stayed in x

Spot on
Location, accommodation, facilities and hosts all brilliant.
Location, could be in the middle of nowhere, south facing patio, overlooking the pond, fields and countryside, only 5min drive into Wirksworth, with a well stocked co op, or 5mins to Carrsington water, for walks, bike trail, restaurant and cafe, pay to park or walk from cottage across the fields.
Accommodation, we stayed in the Derwent cottage, 2 downstairs bedrooms, one loft room with restricted headroom and a little warm, beding and towels excellent quality, comfortable seating, good cooking facilities and equipment.
Facilities, the games room is such a bonus, young and old can enjoy the table tennis, hundreds of dvds, books and games and the more energetic have the tennis court to use, all set in the fantastic grounds of the hall.
Hosts, Tim and Joanne couldnt have been better, friendly and helpful,a lovely couple.
