Management responded quickly to all questions. It was a nice spot that worked well for a group of couples with kids. Nice to have a beach area in back to Play volleyball. A nice walk through the dunes to a nice big beach on Lake Michigan.
10.0 / 10.0
We had 17 people-11 adults + 6 children (7yo-15yo) The house is at the end of a quiet, established residential neighborhood.
The pros-The house is clean & comfortable. It has enough beds for all of us, 2 full kitchens, 2 laundry areas, a picnic table style kitchen table we all fit around. The house is well equipped with bath towels, linens, & kitchen supplies to prep & serve 20+ppl. The “penthouse” is a suite-bedroom, bathroom, sauna space on top level with an amazing view of the lake. The back deck has a grill, firepit, and hot tub-all worked without any trouble. The sand volleyball court is well maintained w/ soft sand-volleyballs & sand toys on site. The path to Lake Street Beach is a short distance thru sand & dune vegetation, then a paved path. The beach is awesome! Communication with host was wonderful-Hilary & her team always responded quickly and were attentive to our needs.
The cons-There are no ramps between the 6 levels of the home-just stairs. There are no bedrooms or bathroom on the “main”level. One full bathroom is currently out of order. You must go thru the “pass thru” bedroom or go around outside to access the 2nd kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and the penthouse. Several of us got chigger bites along the path to the beach.
The vrbo photos show this house in its best lighting/staging/angles. We were slightly disappointed at the actual lot size & interior spaces. Without hesitation, I would recommend this house for a large gathering 🙂

I brought my volleyball team to stay here for three days while we played in La Porte. The house was amazing! There was room for all of us to sleep comfortably. We had pme ty of space to gather and eat together. The hot tub and deck was a huge hit. The access to the beach was stellar. The communication with the property owners was open and easy. I wish i coupd give this place 10 stars instead of 5!

I stayed here with extended family, 14 adults and kids in total. Overall, the place was a really nice surprise! Most everything felt new and updated and it was very clean. All the levels and hangout areas are great for a big group, and the deck and hot tub were a lot of fun for everybody.
A few notes: the rooms have been moved around a bit so the photos aren't quite accurate. The bunk room is in the basement now and top bunks are VERY close to the ceiling...like claustrophobia level! (Impossible to sit up in bed unless you're a toddler.) That leaves a queen room in the walk through space (if you're using the guest house as well) which means no privacy for that person. It all worked out for us but just a heads up!
There was also a bathroom out, which made things tight for a big group.
The walk to the beach is a bit of a tricky one, including one little steep and sandy hill. People with limited mobility will need to drive to (and pay at) the beach nearby. Also note the beach closes at dusk.
A maintenance man seemed to come and go, using the garage, which was a little odd. We received a text once but not each time.
Overall the minuses weren't huge issues and the stay was really nice! We'd definitely return.

Very clean. One bathroom was out of order. Inconvenient. Property manager was going to check on compensation but was not resolved.

Property was as reported. One both room was out of order. Second one had trouble with the sink not draining. Host was notified. Individual appeared and, after trying a quick fix, made arrangements to return the following day. He did do and made the appropriate repairs. When texts were sent to the host, responses were quick and appropriate.

The properties were extremely clean and well-stocked. We appreciated the responsiveness of Miller Beach Vacation Rentals team. We appreciated that the properties accepted dogs. Everyone loved the beaches and dunes, and lots of delicious meals were enjoyed. Check in and check out were super easy.

The house was beautiful. We had 23 people and everyone had a place to sleep (with the air mattresses). The private beach was perfect although the walk was a little further than I had anticipated. The house was very fully stocked with kitchen items, beach items, linens, and everyday items. The outdoor area was very nice. We used the gas fireplace every night. The property manager was quick to call me back with any needs I had. One of the air conditioners was out but they sent someone out right away to show us how to adjust the other units to make up for the deficit. I would suggest if you are going to use the off-site parking, to get an exact address as we had a hard time finding it from the map. This was a great place for a family stay! Between the beach, volleyball and dunes, we kept busy and made some wonderful memories.
8.0 / 10.0
Pros: We had 15 people for an annual family vacation. House was very nice, well appointed, alot of space and clean. Property management team was great. We had some special requests relating to a disabled child which they readily accomodated. Had a few maintenance issues but they were quickly resolved. Beautiful beach. Miller Beach Pizza was very good. Easy to have grocercies delivered. Large outside deck area was very nice and comfortable. Great to have the guest house.
Cons: not a good surrounding area. We felt perfectly safe in the house and immediate block around us but the rest was run down and not a good part of town. My son and I went to a liquor store and got in on the tail end of a police chase involving 6 police cars, cops with guns drawn and 3 people on the ground being arrested. While we loved the dunes, the only views of the water were from the master bedroom and the loft/game room. The house will sleep 27 but 3 of the air mattresses did not work and the bunk room has no privacy as it serves as the walkway to the guesthouse. The living room only has comfortable seating for 6 people. A couch and 2 chairs. The rest was backless bar stools 2 benches and a few chairs around the table. We brought chairs down from the game room which helped. Kept getting alerts telling us we were making too much noise outside when there were literally 3 people outside talking quietly. They had to come and disable the sensors. We had a great time but the location was a concern.

A great house and location to be with our 4 children and their families. Everyone enjoyed our time together as a family for the first time in four years.

Liked the house, liked the location. Checked in on Sunday but on Tuesday the hot water heater failed. We didn't have hot water to do dishes or shower for the rest of our stay. Manager was great to work with and found a Vrbo house across the road to take showers. However, we still enjoyed the stay.
8.0 / 10.0
The location of the Miller Beach House was great - near the beach - but requires climbing over sand dunes so is a bit difficult for anyone elderly or unable to exert themselves. The house layout was fantastic, with plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor space. With some tight squeezing, we were able to accommodate parking all of our cars, which was very helpful. Lots of lake toys and beach chairs were supplied. Beds were comfortable, with nice linens.
We did have a few issues, however. We could have used more towels, and the kitchen was not very well stocked. No trash bags or extra paper towels, no kitchen cleaning supplies at all other than a small bottle of dishwashing liquid. No garbage disposal. One of the pullout sofas was unusable. And while we appreciated the need for conservation of water, the showers were complicated to use. Too, the house has some quirks - shower door in master bath doesn't slide properly and towel bar located such that you have to climb into the bathtub to access it. Finally, to our dismay, we received a "neighborhood noise complaint" text the morning of our departure. Apparently, our loading up of cars was a problem. With an early check out time - 10:00 am - I don't know how this could have been avoided. 5:00 pm check in was also kind of late for folks coming from eastern time zones.
All in all, I'd give this place a 3.5 star. Great house for the beach.

Great property for our gathering of 25. Beautiful spot near beach and walking trails. All accommodations were excellent. Only negative was volleyball net wasn’t up which was one of the features we wanted. All else was great!

Property is a nice location for going to lake michigan. aero beds need replaced. Pull out beds need replaced. House
and bathtubs were not very clean. house is not set up to actually sleep 27. We had a great time, but I would definitely consider other homes over this one for my next get away. especially for the price.
8.0 / 10.0
Pros: Huge space, great amenities, easy communication and check-in
Cons: "well-loved" (some signs of wear and tear). One leaky shower (which we reported)
Great for our group of friends for a winter getaway at a resaonable price.
4.0 / 10.0
The home is large and does have direct access to the beach. The pros stop there. The pictures show a well cared for home with nice furnishings and high end appliances. The reality is starkly different. Decking was covered in mold as were the shower curtains. Staircase railings were so worn there was no paint on the posts. Instructions stated vent must be on whenever stove is in use, but vent didn’t work. Hair dryers were provided but short circuited Visible dust on numerous surfaces, missing light bulbs.
4.0 / 10.0
Hot tub quit working on day 3 of 5. They were quick to try and fix it but needed to order parts. They offer a discount on a future stay, but have not received notification. Would have rather received a partial refund. Will not be booking with them again. Also the property needs some maintenance: loose railings, chipped paint, broken air conditioning, broken stove hood, broken bunk bed, broken fence on deck

Two brother and sister reunion with kids and some grandkids at the beach.
Beautiful Lake Michigan Beach Home well-appointed and located with a short pathway to a gorgeous white sandy beach of Lake Michigan with a view of the Chicago skyline across the lake. Large, comfortable, well-equipped home. Room for all ages with a kitchen made for a chef. A few of the showers were difficult to operate but in all, this home is well worth the price. Thank you for helping our family make memories that will last a lifetime

Marvelous place
We gathered as a family for our annual get together - seven children, five spouses and significant others, 11 grandchildren- from Seattle, Denver, Minnesota, Kentucky , Houston , Indiana, and nyc . The facility was perfect for us. Comfortable, convenient, well maintained. This spot can provide a great spot for all who want a special place for your group

Yearly Family Vacation
House was wonderful and worked great with all the bathrooms and bedrooms for all of us. The grandkids loved the multilayered deck and volleyball pit. We did not like the beach area by the house so we moved further north and found much better beach area. House is fantastic if you need a house this size.

Yearly Family Vacation
House was wonderful for our family, very well stocked and enough beds and bathrooms that we had what we needed. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils for our cooking needs and grill outside worked wonderfully. Family loved the volleyball net. Please be aware the beach the house is located on is not great you need to go farther north to get to a better beach at least as far as Michigan City.

Enjoying the Indiana Dunes
We had a delightful time visiting this beautiful area. We took advantage of many activities offered by the state and national parks. We also enjoyed our family time at the house. We did find that the sleeping accommodations were not as good as expected and too many had to sleep on blow up beds, which because of space, had to be moved in the days. The guide to the area was extremely useful. We could have benefited by having it sooner as we had been trying to locate some of that information many weeks before our stay to make reservations, plan outings, and determine generally how best to use our time. I would also have appreciated a message after we checked out as to how we were viewed as renters as that does make a difference when we try to rent again. We like to know how we did too!

Lovely home
My stay at the Miller beach vacation rental was awesome! I celebrated my 35th birthday there with a few friends and I also got engaged!!! The room with the balcony was perfect for his proposal. The house was fully equipped with everything that you can think of except a dust Pan lol I couldn’t seem to find one. The property manager Tanya was great and prompt with her responses. My grandmother came to visit and did not want to leave. I will definitely rent again in the future. Thanks for a great stay!

Had a wonderful time with family just cooking and hanging out in this beautiful home! Hot tub was a nice spot at the end of the day. Great access to all the sand dune trails. Plenty of room for everyone in our group.

Family Fun
Each year we look for a place to gather with our kids and grandkids (20 give or take a couple). This was another fun place to make that happen. Lots of space to gather or spaces for more private conversations. We ate, played games, walked the beach, flew kites, enjoyed the hot tub, jacuzzi and sauna. It was a great time!

Very comfy and homely
I had a BDay party in February at the Dream Retreat and the name is exactly what it says. The house has so many levels that you can have 3 parties going on in different parts of the house all at the same time. The hot tub was great and the privacy of the house was great too. I had 24 hour on the spot service. Kristy was great. I recommend this resort to anyone. Thanks again!!

Don't Park Your Car at the Miller Train Station
We brought a large group of college student leaders for a leadership retreat at the Dream Resort this past weekend. We do this retreat at different locations every year with no issues. In fact, we are always able to leave positive and glowing reviews for each property we've stayed in. Unfortunately, that is not the case for this property.
Positives: The home was large and clean and the kitchen was well stocked. It is close to the beach with a large hiking trail. The hot tub and sauna were great.
Negatives: Because we had a large group we were instructed to park cars over at the Miller Train Station to avoid getting ticketed by parking on the street. We parked four cars over there for less than 48 hours. One of the cars was broken into (by throwing a rock through a locked window) and things were stolen. When I contacted the property manager to see what could be done about this they gave the following response:
"We are so sorry to hear that someone in your group had their car broken into at the train station. This is our 12th year of renting the Dream Retreat in Miller Beach and out of thousands of guests we’ve never received a single report of a break-in or incident. Unfortunately, crime happens everywhere, however we will make sure our future guests are aware and extra diligent when leaving cars overnight. "
This is particularly frustrating because this college student will need to pay out of pocket for parking in an area that we were told we HAD to park in, and the response from management was defensive and deflective at best.
The area is dicey. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Retreat gone great!
We hosted a retreat for about 15 people and loved it! The space was cozy and intimate and the staff who helped up check in and out were lovely. The only downside was the hottub jets were on their last leg and we weren’t aware that you needed to go through one of the bedrooms to get into the guest house (though you could’ve gone outside). Those were minor inconveniences though considering how great everything else was!

Excellent stay
We had a great week at the Miller Beach house. It was spacious and very well equipped with everything our large family needed.
Our only disappointment was the distance to walk to the beach, but the uncrowded beach was worth the hike.

Great place for holiday family get away. Very clean and updated. Plenty of space and bathrooms! They had everything we needed, linens, dishes, cookware, etc. This was the 2nd time at Miller Beach. Wonderful place.

Great house, but a few misrepresentations...
This property is lovely, especially the amazing master suite. And one can’t overstate how beautiful the setting is. The walk through the dunes to the amazing beach is positively stunning. Also, the manager, Tanya, was incredibly helpful and accessible. We needed extra bedding and she literally showed up in five minutes. Two things to note: two of the beds (in the bunk room) are limited to 75 pounds, so plan accordingly. Also, the volleyball court is DEFINITELY not a Women’s Olympic court. The net is the right width and height, but the court is bowl-shaped and immediately flanked by tall grass, including poison ivy, rendering it almost useless. This is an easy thing to overlook if you’re a casual volleyball player, but as we are serious players who mostly wanted to play volleyball all weekend, it was an unwelcome surprise. However, between the lake and the patio, we were still well entertained. DO be aware of poison ivy and chiggers. Wear long pants and shoes on your way to the lake! Also ask the owners for recs re: caterers and restaurants. We took their advice with delicious and gorgeous results.

Stunning views, well maintained home, responsive owners
As a group of 15 or so thirty somethings who get together once a year, we have stayed in many properties. This ranks among the best. We rented the entire house (including guest house) and had lots of room to spread. Hillary offered a quick response to any concerns we had and was very accessible. The house is clean, grounds are well managed, and quick access to trails is amazing. We had a great winter getaway, did some amazing cooking in the best stocked kitchen we've had, and spent a lot of time together in the warm, inviting spaces. The few issues we had were resolved quickly and effectively. One note: when sharing the entire house, the bunk room is not a private space (we ended up with one less private space than we had expected).

This home was great for our group of 19.
Hilary thought of everything, with plenty of dishes, coffee, games and puzzles, movies, bedding, towels, basic toiletries. It was so nice to just show up and enjoy spending time with our extended family. This home was better than we expected and we can't wait to stay again!

Sit back and enjoy
On March 3rd 2017 I hosted my annual girl's birthday retreat. Upon arrival I was greeted by Hilary and two lovely assistants. They were all welcoming, I was taken on a tour of the house. Where each level gave me goosebumps because of the beauty. After the tour we discussed rules, regulations and the overall upkeep of the house. It's exactly what you see in the pictures. Very spacious for my 13 guests. However, it was a few hiccups it had nothing to do with the house. It was more so about communication and paperwork. Other than that, I loved the house, the stay and the comfort it provided..It literally felt like a home away from home. Everything I needed was at my fingertips. I appreciated the up to date appliences (especially the Keurig) and the personalized welcome pack. The beds are extremely comfortable and the stairs are a breeze, I have respiratory issues and I feared it would be an issue, but it wasn't a problem at all. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the beautiful view.

Loved by all
The house was beautiful! I rented it for 25 people to surprise my husband for his 30th birthday. It was rented for the weekend and everything was spectacular. The house was incredibly clean when we got there & they were nice enough to set up the volleyball net for the unseasonably warm weather. There was tons of space for everyone. Everyone had such a great time. Thank you so much for letting us rent your home for a few days!
