About this farm stay rental
The Dome is a unique addition to Birchfield Farmstay. A clay-rendered strawbale house designed and built by Andy, the owner, with a completely round living room/kitchen/dining room area. The Dome's design is as impressive as its beautiful and peaceful surrounds. The strawbale Dome is warm in Winter and cool in Summer, so is comfortable all year round. This is an eco-friendly and energy efficient house.
Nestled at the edge of a forest on a 90 acre property, 15 kilometres south of Margaret River town, the Dome offers the perfect environment for families to congregate at meal times with an easy flow living/dining and entertainment space. With space for a reading couch, comfy sofa in front of the TV and fireplace and open kitchen, the whole family can co-exist in the same space, while having their own areas.
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom features a queen bed with en-suite and private verandah overlooking the forest.
The second bedroom features two single beds, that can be joined to form a king, plus two bunk beds that have been designed specifically for the Dome, ideal for kids.
A sofa bed in the lounge/living area can sleep another 2 adults.
There is a BBQ and outdoor eating area with shade sail.
Birchfield Farmstay is home to 3 donkeys, 3 alpacas, peacocks, guinea fowl and ducks, guinea pigs and 2 pigs; Patricia and Tea Cup. Feel free to make yourself at home by roaming the farm, feeding the friendly animals or meandering through the natural forests on the property. Relax with a book in one of the secluded forest hammocks in Summer or curl up on the couch with a good book in front of the roaring fireplace in Winter.
There is Satellite TV and a surround sound music system and WiFi is also available.
Well-behaved dogs can be accommodated on request. Please provide details when booking.

Lovely peaceful stay in the eco friendly straw bale “Dome” house. We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable quirky cottage in the countryside. We loved watching the blue wrens and other birds . We enjoyed feeding carrots to the donkeys and seeing the alpacas and other animals. A great place to stay. Close to Witchcliffe and to Margaret River.

The place is fully utilised, offering versatility idea for large families seeking a countryside retreat or a convenient weekend gateway just a short drive from Perth. Outside dirty and spider city. Cobwebs on doors and windows. Very old outside seating. Couldn’t sit on it as very rough. Would pull threads in clothing. Bbq area very dirty. Very Old towels for us but friends were ok. 2/3 of lounge chairs old and you sink into them. Dirty cushions from food and spills on the chairs. Pots and pans black. We were given some more when I asked but none of them went together and no saucepan base given. Very disappointed and not value for money.

A very peaceful location but at the same time in easy reach of the many attractions offered by the Margaret River district.
The accommodation was very comfortable and the wood fire kept it cosy in the cool weather we experienced. Solar water heating worked perfectly, as did all the other equipment. We received a warm welcome from Andy, who made sure everything was explained to us.

Relax then relax a little more
We spent 8 nights in this little slice of heaven and loved the peace, the bush walks, the donkeys and the Dome. It's just the right distance off the track. Andy was only concerned that everything was good and Justine a pleasure to deal with when booking. Thank you both. Highly recommended.

Beautiful property, lovely host!
Andy's Dome is warm (literally, super well-insulated against even the cold winter nights), cosy and inviting! It's a fascinating place, and feels like home from the moment you arrive. Andy himself is lovely and happy to chat, but also gave us our space. The full property is absolutely stunning and made the perfect weekend getaway, especially for my small dog, who fell in love with the friendly donkeys! 10/10 recommend and will be back.

Perfect venue for small group
The little house had ample room to socialise in the main domed room. Nice enviro friendly design. The farm animals were a bonus. Loved that my dog was welcome, with a little attached yard and able to have her in the living area with us. Will definitely stay again.

My experience
Perfect little getaway spot for anyone looking to take a break from the city life or to visit for a holiday. Was only 10 mins away from the centre of Margaret river, which made life very easy and a perfect starting point for planning the days activities. I strongly recommend farmstays, they are very therapeutic and provide an experience unrivalled by a hotel or similar accommodation. Pet friendly, my pup bella had an absolute ball as we explored the farm itself and its surrounding areas. The hosts themselves were very helpful and approachable without being one bit intrusive. Great spot for families, anyone travelling with pets or someone like myself who was looking to relax and unwind after a busy year of work. Thanks again for having me guys, thoroughly enjoyed my time on the farm and would recommend to others to check it out.

The dome at Birchfield Farm. What a fantastic place to stay
We all enjoyed our stay at this quaint different place Only a short drive from the centre of Margaret River and so peaceful in the country. The owners were very welcoming and everything was provided for our stay. So interesting finding out how Andy built this unique building. We only saw the Alpacas and Donkeys but there were a lot of other animals around as well. Chickens Ducks etc. I would highly recommend a stay at Birchfield Farmstay to everyone. Really ideal for families with children of all ages. Thanks again to the owners for a fantastic weekend made so much more enjoyable for their accommodation
