About this cottage rental
Tranquility Cottage is just as it is called, a tranquil and peaceful spot on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. A 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage, open kitchen, dining, and living room. Master bedroom and living area have large glass door and/or windows facing the ocean.
The breezy deck spans the width of the cottage, part covered and part uncovered. Quick access to the beach as you step from the deck to the stairs leading to the beach.
Marsh Harbour is the arrival airport and the town offers grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping. Bahama Palm Shores, a community made up of second home owners and Bahamian residents, is a 30 minute drive south of Marsh Harbour. A rental car would be necessary for your stay. There are many places all over the island of Abaco to explore or you may be content to enjoy the remote location and secluded seven mile beach.
Beach towels, umbrella, lounge chairs, & furniture cushions in closet. Iron/ironing board, extra fan, fold out game table, star gazing telescope in the bedroom closet.
Tap water comes from a ground well and is safe to drink, but if you prefer bottled water it can run through the refrigerator to make ice and dispense water. There are several locations in Marsh Harbour to purchase more 5 gallon bottles.
Charcoal for grill can be found in laundry room if there was any left from a previous guest, otherwise it can be purchased at the grocery store.
Electricity is supplied from Bahamas Power & Light (BPL). We have occasional power outages at times. There are oil lamps & flashlights in cabinet.
There is no trash pick up. Directions are given to the Bahama Palm Shores trash drop off, close to the main entrance of the subdivision.
Uncontrollables: Sugar ants can be a nuisance if food isn't put away and counters aren't wiped. Beach can be dirty from ocean trash. We all try to do our part and help with beach clean up. Sand flies "NoSeeUms" are worse in the morning and evening especially if there is no breeze. You'll want to pack insect repellent.

Great!

In all honesty, the pictures don’t even do this place justice. It is a little far from town, but that just makes it feel like you’re on your own island. We saw two people the entire week we stayed here. The hosts are beyond fantastic and so sweet. We had intended on visiting the different Cays but after getting to the house, we didn’t want to leave lol 10/10 would recommend

This quaint cottage is simple, clean, and had everything we needed. The view from the porch is absolutely phenomenal and the beach was paradise. Would highly recommend!

The beach is incredibly beautiful and quiet. The property is an easy drive from the airport and Marsh Harbour.

We spent six nights at the cottage, fished with local guide three days. perfect location and rental for us. great cottage for relaxing. Very much recommend.

This cottage is marvelous! Right on the beach, gorgeous sand and water, amazing sunrises! So private and cozy! Listing was accurate and the owners were so helpful and available. We can’t wait to return!

We all needed time to unwind, and this was the perfect place to do that.

Have business down south and proximity to my location was perfect. No complaints other than the ants, but was warned in advance and not the biggest deal.

We spent 10 days here and never saw another human on the miles of beach in front of us. House is great, has everything you need and everything works great including perfect phone/internet. Lots of seaweed in the ocean. The ultimate quiet, peaceful, beautiful relaxing place. The Island was devastated-truly- in the hurricane in 2019 and hasn’t come back but if you want privacy and quiet this is the place for you. And, get a grouper sandwich at Mamma D’s!!

The description of the rental is extremely accurate. There was NOT one thing that we needed that was not there. We missed are flight in Fort Lauderdale by checking in 45 minutes early rather than 1 hour so we arrived a day late. My wife and I brought our son and my mother to vacation and see the property we bought in the neighborhood. When we arrived, I realized I didn't take a screen shot of the key code and could not open my email because I was not connected to Wi-Fi. We ended up meeting a woman they call the cake lady in the community, and she invited me in and let me use her Wi-Fi and I was able to get the key code from my email. She was just a few hundred yards from the rental. So, we headed back over but not before she insisted, we take a whole banana bread she made. I must say we all thought is was the best we ever had. As soon as we got into the house, we were able to sign into the Wi-Fi and it worked perfectly the whole time we were there. The pictures do not do the beaches and the view justice. We spent a lot of time in the crystal clear water thanks to excellent weather and light winds. The rental and beaches are very private. I want to add that since we missed our first day Colin happened to have 1 open day before we left and was so KIND to offer another night for free for our trouble. We could not do it but the owners and house are amazing. No doubt we will be repeat renter. Thanks so much for everything!! My wife is already planning the next trip back.

We had such a wonderful stay at tranquility. The house was spacious enough for 6 and the beach was just steps away. Having coffee on the porch and watching the sunrise in the morning was the best . Thank you so much for sharing your home with us .

Overall impression of property is it is a wonderful space. Very comfortable. You can see the ocean from bedroom, kitchen, and living room. House has everything to cook with. Very quiet neighborhood. Desserted beach. Beautiful grounds.
Needed more than one garbage bag and a toilet brush.
Internet was disappointing. Poor quality wifi. Lost internet for a couple days because owner did not pay on time. Then had issues of getting kicked off internet that was solved by a friend of a friend. It took two visits to correct. Could not watch any movies.
I would rent again for sure. Really liked location to my friends and their community. Interesting group of people. I have recommended "Tranquillity" to family and friends since 2022 and will continue to do so. Love that place!
Thank you Rebekah and Colin! I hope to return next year

My first impression of the house was not good. The stairs leading to the door are missing sections of handrail and desperately need to be painted as does the lattice panels. The inside of the house is light and airy and the many large windows provide a great view of the ocean. However the entire house needs a deep cleaning. The sink, dish drainer, and refrigerator were dirty. Outdated food was left in the frig. Two items expired November of 2018! Ceiling fan blades were covered in dust and grime; dead flies in windowsills; large wad of hair clogged bathtub/shower drain. The living room furniture was worn, faded and stained. Bedding was old and many blankets had holes. Extra blankets stored in a tub in closet smelled musty. Towels were stained. Deck furniture consisted of 4 old plastic stack chairs and a hard wooden bench. No cushions and no table and chairs. Relaxing on deck was not an option! We knew there was no cable so we brought DVDs—DVD player did not work. The beach was COVERED with seaweed and there was trash in many areas. The house is FAR from everything. I had read that before I booked but didn’t realize how inconvenient and time consuming it was to explore the area. And the drive was not easy or scenic. The last 12 miles of the road was riddled with potholes. Sadly the entire island is still suffering the devastating effects of hurricane Dorian. I was extremely disappointed in Tranquility Cottage and would NOT recommend staying there!

My husband and I spent 10 days at Tranquility. Appropriately named. We only saw 2 people the entire time. We had the beach to ourselves.
So if peace and quiet is what you are looking for, you found it. It is a bit outside of Marsh Harbor so stock up before driving out. We only took to the roads during the day and took advantage of the well equipped kitchen for dinner. Pete’s bar and grill is the nearest eatery and worth the trip. We took a few ferry rides to Elbow Cay, Great Guana Cay and Green Turtle Cay. We ate at Firefly on Elbow Cay, Nippers on Great Guana and Pineapple Inn on GTC. All were awesome but not cheap
Bed was comfortable, good water pressure in the shower and we did see a few Abaco parrots! Oh and the stars! Wow, they brought me to tears. What more could you want?
Yes, we would love to go back😎

If your trying to get away from the rat race of life, this the spot to be. Tranquility is a very appropriate name for this cottage. The beach was wonderful for swimming and long walks and there was rarely anyone around. The owners, Colin and Rebekah, were wonderful hosts. We hope to return someday!

Such an amazingly peaceful and beautiful hideaway. If it is peace and a break from the outside world you are looking for this is it!! And while it does feel remote it really is only 20-25 mins from Marsh Harbor, and the drive is a straight shot up the highway. It was perfect!! We are future home owners in this neighborhood and definetly made the right choice. Rebekah was very prompt in responding to any quesitons we had. Thank you!!!

Wonderful property. Secluded and quiet. A way from the airport of any stores so arrive with what you need. Everything we needed was there. Will definitely be back soon.

Manager communicated well and provided detailed instructions. Others have mentioned how remote this property is, it’s true! Very relaxing but come prepared from Marsh Harbor

What a perfect beach house for our family getaway! It had everything we needed and more. Looking forward to coming back. The area was incredibly peaceful with hardly a soul around.

Tranquility Cottage lives up to its name. If you like peace and quiet then this is definitely the place for you. In 9 days we saw only one person walking on the miles and miles of beach. Unfortunately, the sea was very rough during our stay, with plenty of seaweed, but we managed to go in every day
The outside of the property needs a little attention and could do with a coat of paint but, overall it is a very beautiful place to stay.
One word of advice would be to take plenty of water and food necessary for your stay with you from Maxwells in Marsh Harbour on your arrival as it is a long way to drive if you run out of things. That said, we found that Big Bird, the chicken farm some 10 miles up the road now has a lovely little shop that sells everything from beer, wines and spirits to home made ice cream which is delicious. It also sells gas which was a big surprise.

Rebekah was very welcoming and attentive to our every need! The cottage appeared much larger than the website indicated. It provided for us a perfect gathering place to join our local family.

Will definitely be staying here again for our next trip to abaco!

Bahama Palm Shores where the cottage is located is a great location. You have your privacy yet you are still relatively close to Marsh Harbour. The water is beautiful with the nice sound of crashing waves at night. We loved the cottage so much we looked at property in the area to purchase. We had a wonderful stay!!!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Tranquility. We had all windows open the entire time, the breeze was great as the days were warm, but the sound of the ocean sent us to bed early and slept so well.
I like the pro/con format so will use it here –
Pro’s
- Owner response probably the best we’ve encountered of any VRBO we have stayed in
- House was clean, bright, excellent open floor plan, seems much larger than in images
- Kitchen, perfect, cooked most mornings and out every window was the beach or the what must be an acre of a yard. Pantry is stocked, we left a few items for the next travelers as well
- So quiet, birds everywhere, we had a large woodpecker with us daily as well as some kind of stork. They did not mind us at all
- Large deck, amazing views of the ocean
- Master bedroom with it 8 floor to ceiling window view of the surf is incredible
- Stars! We had a full moon for 3 nights and then the stars. Cannot remember seeing stars from the edge of the horizon to 180 degrees overhead
- Water temp was perfect, just the right amount of chill when 1st get in
- Secluded, quiet, remote
Con’s
- Secluded. You are basically 30 miles from any other facilities, food, groceries, beer
- Beach is not pristine, only meaning there is seaweed on the and some plastic that is on all Atlantic facing beaches. We made it a rule to bring up any we found each day and within 2-3 days, beach was clean
- All blinds in the house need replaced
- Several fixtures need replaced, salt air does its thing
- A few of the decking stairs need their screws tightened
- No See Ums! Bugs love my wife and for the most part leave me alone. However, if you stand in one place n the sand, you are likely to get bit. And you do not feel it until a few hours later. And they can come through the screens at night. My ankles were worked fairly well by the time we left but I was fishing from shore on other beaches. However, my wife was really bit up. We did not use repellant until the last few days of our trip so is on us. Suggest you use the spray before heading out but bring the green aloe after sun gel, works great on the bites.
Overall, was a great stay ……………..
BTW, there is a palm that is growing from its nut shell at the base of the steps leading to the ocean. There is a drought, like everywhere, so we watered it just few days during our 10 day stay. Give some fresh if you have a chance :)
