We spend the afternoon in Franschoek . the location is nearly everthing.
I loved everything about Pearl Valley Mantis
4.0
Very scenic views. Pity we couldn’t play golf as it was hollow season.

Breakfast is good. People staying longer should have more options.
Some additions like toast and juice very expensive. Playing golf expensive. Not allowed to take none golfers with when playing golf.
Lots of machines on the pathways, speed of these sometimes a safety risk.
If door cards is not working at mantis then you have to go all the way back to the reception, especially at night with the family with you.
Gate system not effective. Their are more effective apps or systems that will speed up the process when entering. Kitchen equipped with equipment that does not work.

The views and restaurants aesthetics are beautiful.
The reservations team and reception team really ruined our trip. Despite us having arranged two months before to pay on check in as is the norm for some hotels and they agreed to this, they called and debited our account before arrival. We started our trip in Hermanus and we never keep a lot of cash in some accounts for safety reasons.
The reservation manager was rude and border line racial profiling us and not believing that we were in coming and will pay on check in. We got there and the reception still didn’t believe we paid on our way, requesting emails and proof that we paid. I was highly irritated because we will not fly down to Western Cape and not pay for our stay.
That set the tone for our stay. The carpets in the rooms are also smelly for a 5 star hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful but they need to improve on customer service and do maintenance on their carpets. They have a stove but it was not working because they want you to buy from their restaurants, so why put the stove anyway??

The location is beautiful. Breakfast was good and the staff so friendly. Good coffee.
The first time we had breakfast they didn’t have yoghurt and granola, both were out of stock.

The hotel ,proximity to the pool
The staff at the small restaurant ,everything was wonderful They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The bar staff at the golf club. very poor service need to be taught properly how to serve paying customers maybe could learn a few things from Enrico and his team at the small restaurant

The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. Everything you needed was in the unit. Housekeeping was friendly and quick with service.
The main bedroom could use a mirror at the dressing table. Little bit weird to dry your hair between bed- and bathroom.

Veiligheid en de service. Zelfs de kleinste dingetjes werden onmiddellijk opgelost. Klasse. Vervoer van de receptie naar de hotelkamers per golfkar. Prima
Moet ik even over nadenken

The breakfast was out of this world, with friendly staff to match.
All expectations was met.

the location at Val de vie was great
I think that the kitchenette was a bit sparse. Salt and pepper and a sharp knife would have been useful.

The location is perfect, placed in the middle between Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, in one of the most prestigious estates in South Africa (Val de Vie). The mountain views are excellent. The rooms are massive with excellent (and large) bathroom facilities. The breakfast was delicious. We ordered the 'Rooster's Call' - Just the right amount of food, excellent sausage (obviously its South Africa!). Good value for money as well. We are not into golf, but I imagine if you were it would pretty much be your holiday paradise.

We had a very comfortable room, overlooking the soccer field and tennis courts. Backs restaurant, with great food, was right behind us, so very convenient.
We had no ice tray, and could have done with a pot for the stove.
3.5
It was great having a choice of two restaurants on the property, so we could eat dinner and breakfast. The room was beautiful and clean. it was spacious as we had our 3 year old with us.
Love that the hotel group support Terbodore coffee roasters, please give a choice of regular coffee in the room.
As newbies to the area, we did not know that you cannot access Pearl Valley via the Val de Vie main entrance, so we had to drive around. (Think the *instructions needs to be clear with the booking). Was not a deal breaker.
We would have enjoyed a regular "flavored" coffee in the morning, caramel not necessarily everyone's taste. (being a coffee pot). We were able to get coffee from the restaurants, so all good.
2.5
Restaurant service very bad waiters do not pay attention to details and take long time to service customers.
Waiters do not what their suppose to do

lovely clean and well appointed
the food poisoning I got on the first night in the restaurant was terrible. I could not eat anything further for my whole stay. kitchen needs looked at.

The hotel suites are perfectly situated with a wonderful deli available as an option to the clubhouse. The suite was very comfortable and spacious also offering great self catering facilities.
As feedback more clarity on the breakfast menu options would be helpful.
