Stunning home in a quiet neighborhood with lots of room for 6 adults. All the amenities of home with a heated pool. Kitchen had all the cookware, utensils and a dishwasher. Washer and dryer onsite was so handy. Less than a 5 min walk to the ocean! Great communication with the owner. We would definitely go back!

This house was perfect for our family. The pool provided hours of fun and our grand kids were delighted to learn to swim in it. Umbrellas, chairs and towels were perfect for beach trips. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood but is close to shopping. The little nearby bay was perfect for wave watching and to see gorgeous sunsets. Helpful and kind, our hostess responded quickly to all our questions.

We very much enjoyed our stay! The house was perfect for our group and we took advantage of the great selection of beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards in the garage. We used the pool daily. There’s a Manta Ray tour that departs from Keahou Bay which is only a 2 minute drive from the house and was the highlight of our trip. Be sure and read the check out instructions when you arrive so you can make sure you have plenty of time to finish before your departure. Also the refundable deposit will take up to 3 weeks to receive after checkout which was somewhat surprising.

The house and pool were so nice. The location was near the water and much nice shopping. The house and location felt like "home". We all agree, we would defiantly stay there again. Communication with Martha was the best and check in was super easy. No issues with the stay, enjoyed it very much!

We all had a fabulous time and two weeks was not enough for us. Next trip we are planning to take 3 or 4 weeks. The house is in a very nice location close to everything we like to do. There is a turkey that hangs around and we named him Tommy the mayor. He’s always there to greet us and cars have to slow down and avoid him. The pool is awesome and we spent a lot of time on the deck. The new air conditioner is great. Martha is very responsive and accommodating. Next trip to the Big Island, we will definitely stay here if it is available.

This was a wonderful place to stay! The owner let us check in early which was very kind of her. Location was wonderful with a quiet neighborhood and 2 beautiful bays nearby. Roomy enough for 6 adults and we all enjoyed the pool. I would say the only downside was the air-conditioning. Overall it was a wonderful trip.

The property location is great, the neighborhood is quiet but still only a 15 min drive to busy Kona. We also walked to a great snorkel beach and a farmers market.
The pool was a hit with my grandchildren, 9 & 12. The outside deck area is large, great for morning coffee and evening dining. The house has a homey feel, the beds were comfortable also. We hope to be back for a second visit!

We very much enjoyed this house! It was 3 of us adults and 3 kids, and we had more than enough space. The pool was perfect, and the house has many amenities so we didn't have to buy. Great communication with owner if we needed anything. Close to shops, but still in a nice quiet area.

We stayed at Martha’s place for a week. She was very accommodating and her communication was admirable. While the house did get warm within the main area we were aware of this as we read reviews before staying. However, the bedrooms on the 4 hour air conditioner timers helped to keep the rooms cool at night. Concerns that were brought to Martha’s attention were received and she answered immediately. The exterior of the home had lots of updates, but the interior is still dated. We are looking forward to seeing the interior changes that Martha said are to be completed in May 2023.

The location, size and pool were all great. The area is very quiet.
We left a small list of items that need attention to make the property even better. The one trouble we did report was quickly cared for.

3 couples shared this 3-br, 2-bath property. The pool is beautiful and the deck spacious, allowing separate, comfortable conversations. The house is walking distance to Keauhoi Shopping Center and a small boat harbor and swimming beach. All amenities provided - nothing lacking. We'd rent again in a heartbeat!

We loved our stay! The living room air conditioner does not seem to help is our only complaint. Awesome pool and location for walks to both bays.

We have stayed at Hale Hui Kai many times and always enjoy the well appointed suite. The recent updates have made it even better. The location can’t be beat; it’s a one minute walk to the beach and pool. We walk most days to the Kihei attractions or to Wailea for coffee or lunch or a little shopping. We never tire of Kihei or Maui.

My family had a wonderful time on the Big Island. The kids enjoyed the pool daily. The interior of the home was a little dated, but it had everything we needed and the outdoor space and the great communication with the owner, more than made up for the interior. We would definitely stay again!

The house is quite lovely but the house has less than adequate air conditioning and the windows do not all close so it gets Very hot during the day and early evening. I would not rent this house during the hot months . I was surprised that I reached out to the owner the second day we were here to advise her of the uncomfortable situation- but never heard back from her - we spent two days outside watching the triathlon in the heat only
To come back to the house and find it as hot or hotter than the outside - this was not enjoyable and I think that this heat situation should be summarized in the fact information on the house so future renters k or if this issue

We were here for a big family vacation with aunts, uncles and cousins all staying nearby. The location was perfect and we had a great time. The AC took a while to cool the house down with only the 1 unit for the living room, but we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out inside anyway. The bedrooms were cool at night which was more important for us. The pool water was a little on the warm side, but it was refreshing early in the morning and at night when we got home for a quick dip before bed. We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet, comfortable and well equipped house for exploring the Big Island. Great pool for the kids too.
10.0 / 10.0
We really loved waking up everyday to the pool, especially my five year old. The house was a great size for the 5 of us and everything we needed for the beach was provided (snorkeling gear, wagon, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, etc.) The AC in the bedroom was essential for sleeping the week that we were there. The rest of the house cooled off overnight with fans and windows.
If I could leave any constructive criticism it would be that the AC in the living room doesn't help much, and maybe something more efficient would be better. We ended up turning it off and leaving the house during the day because it was too hot (temps got up to 90 so it was hot for everyone in Hawaii). I'm sure when it's not 90 in August the house is plenty cool. There was a nice breeze as well. Also the closet doors in the bedrooms had some louvers missing. You can tell a lot of work has been put into the outside property.
I would definitely stay here again. Martha answered all of our questions promptly and was available for whatever we needed.

Gem in Keahou
The property is nice and comfortable. It is sort of dated inside, but overall it worked out pretty well for us. The outside is pleasant with a pool and patio. The pool is heated. She had everything you needed bug spray, snorkel stuff, sunscreen, coolers. It was nice to not go out and have to buy and look for things.

Exactly what we needed
We just returned from our trip on the big island and from our stay in this lovely home. My husband, son (11) and daughter (2) enjoyed every bit of what turned out to be our home away from home. It offered all the comforts of home but touched with the aloha spirit. The kitchen was fully equipped with cookware, dishes, silverware and even Tupperware! Traveling as a family of four, it is extremely important to us to cook meals as eating out for an extended period of time could be pretty costly. We were able to do so with all the kitchen essentials that were provided. All of the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning units in each room made a big difference to our quality of sleep. Our evenings were spent in the pool which was also well cared for. We full took advantage of all of the beach chairs, toys and even the wagon to tote everything down on the sand.
Thank you, Martha for allowing us to stay in your home. We would surely return. Next time without the kiddos!

Perfect family vacation on the big island
The pool is everything. Our girls woke up to jump in the pool, and went to bed from the pool. Their favorite beach was 45 minutes north (Hapuna), and our favorite snorkeling was 20 minutes south (Two Step). My husband and I went to coffee several places, but our favorite was the Coffee Shack just 10 minutes south of this wonderful location. Much of the big island is lava rock, but this community is lush and green. Close to shoreline, and only 10-15 minutes from the downtown strip of Kailua Kona. Location was perfect, especially if you plan to go to the volcanic national park. The weather was perfect in May/June when we went. The pool is nicely shaded halfway at times, and the patio chairs and tables make outdoor living very comfortable and easy. The beds were comfortable and we loved the friendly green lizards. Having a kitchen was nice so we didn’t have to eat out all the time. TV options were great for downtime too. We had plenty of towels and amenities to clean up after ourselves. Such a great family trip.

A Private Resort
This is a Fantastic property! The location in Keauhou is central to shopping, dining, farmers markets, golfing, excursions from Keauhou Bay. You can walk to all of these. You can catch the Kona Trolley from the shopping area to Kailua town if you don't want to drive. The house is very well kept, the kitchen was well stocked for preparing meals in and plenty of pool and beach towels. All bedrooms had A/C if you chose to use it. The house is very comfortable when you open the windows and doors and let the breeze flow through the house. We utilized the pool and deck more than anything. It is the most comfortable pool I have ever been in. It s solar heated and remains at about the ambient air temperature. there are beach chairs, beach umbrellas, snorkeling gear, boogie board and 2 bicycles to use during your stay. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay on the Kona side of the island.

Perfect Location
I was sad to leave Martha’s property when our stay ended, it felt very much like “home” to us. The pool and lanai were perfect after a long day of exploring the island. The location was literally a five minute walk from the snorkel excursions we went on, and then a 10 minute or so drive into Kona. In the plaza a few minutes away was a grocer, pharmacy, shave ice, a great galette quick service and a fantastic Mexican quick service so we didn’t have to venture far on days when we were tired, plus having the kitchen and grill made for the perfect stay. Martha provides lots of extras like beach towels, beach chairs, even a wagon. We would return again in a heartbeat, I miss it already!!

This house was amazing. Martha attended to whatever need we may have had. The house was very clean and she supplied things like shampoo/conditioner, coffee filters, and numerous other things. She definitely lives up to the title of “hostess with the mostest”! We would stay there again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Martha.
