So many interesting places in this almost 100-year-old home!! Enjoyed the spaciousness, with a bedroom each on the 2nd floor for our 4 big kids, and a private suite on the 3rd floor with its generously sized bedroom, king bed and updated ensuite. Lots of seating to eat and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The pool was a great plus and we had the perfect weather to enjoy it!
Location was on a busy street but inside the house it was really quiet. It seemed like a nice neighborhood and we felt safe. There is easy access to downtown NY on the 163 bus just a 5-minute walk away. A few restaurants within walking distance (although we ordered in) and a 10-minute walk to The Bagel Shoppe on Passaic had the most delicious bagels and cream cheese offerings!
Just a few things to mention: the staircase to the 3rd floor is narrow and winding, so if you are at all physically challenged, accessing this space may be a task. The front and back entrance doors are old and we initially struggled with opening and closing them tightly. Although it is hard to tell from the photos, the driveway is actually quite narrow and some of the foliage is overgrown in the front, which partially blocked access to and from our vehicle.
Victor was super helpful, providing laundry soap on cue! Thank you Victor!
I would highly recommend this home, and will stay here again next time we’re in New York!

Wonderful property and amazing Host! We all felt very comfortable and safe!

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and historic house. It was very clean and we found everything we needed. The size is incredible and especially the glass room and the cozy garden with the pool were great. Also technically all the appliances worked wonderfully and we lacked for nothing.
The location is also ideal - whether a quick trip to NYC, a short trip to the beach or to the Appalachian Trail. For us, the 10 days here were optimal.

We were lucky to stay in victor's gorgeous home for the second time. Every corner in it is beautiful and filled with personality and lots of TLC. We were very very comfortable, had lots of place to spread out and then some. Every room was comfortable and welcoming. Although the house is huge, it was very clean. Victor is the most gracious, helpful, nice, discreet and welcoming host. We felt honoured to be his guests. He responded very very fast to any inquiries we had. We also were suppose to land earlier in the morning, and Victor told us there would be no problem coming in earlier. The house is also in the best location for trips, shopping and getting into New York.
We loved staying and would love to stay again
Thank you very much, Victor!

The location was very easy for bus transportation to NYC while having space for the family to enjoy. Bus stop is 2 blocks away and a 40-50 min drive to port authority by Times Square and connections to subways. $9 round trip per person was still a better choice for our family than staying in a small hotel room. Use the NJ bus app and grab a metro card in NYC and travel is a breeze. Never needed a car to see the sites other than going to the Statue of Liberty from the NJ side.
The house was fantastic for the week with TVs in all the bedrooms to relax. Plenty of space for meals and down time. Nice pool as well. Do not hesitate to rent this place. Owner was great to work with.

Victors house was like staying in a museum. So many cool pieces around the house to look at and enjoy. Very quiet neighborhood with a relaxing backyard. The house felt like it was full of memories of children growing up and playing hide and go seek. It had the old house vibe with a touch of modern. Thanks Victor for the use of your property!

It was the perfect accommodation for our family of six. Our four kids loved having their own rooms! The pool was awesome. Victor was very attentive.

We had a great week at Victor's home. We really enjoyed the beautiful, immaculate pool (although the jacuzzi is not available for use due to a bad experience Victor had in the past). The kitchen is nicely renovated and had just about everything we needed. The 3rd floor suite is very comfortable. There was enough seating in the dining and living rooms for the 6 of us, and we made daily runs to the nearby Target and Whole Foods. Despite being on a busy street, you couldn't hear the traffic from inside the house.
Just a couple of cons:
- The first floor has no AC
- 2 of the beds are very creaky
- Dining chairs should be reupholstered or replaced
- Something about the basement made people feel a little unwell but that's the only space with a big TV
Overall, we would recommend and would rent again as long as there is air conditioning on the first floor.

Beautiful home, perfect for family seeking a relaxing setting. Pool was well-maintained and provided many hours of enjoyment. Owner was easily available and responsive tonay questions. 7 minute drive to Whole foods (and Target!) and kitchen with everything needed to cook-when we were not grilling outside. Left refreshed and relaxed! Would definitely return!!!

We were looking for a peaceful place just to escape the city for a week and that's exactly what we got. The pool was perfect for multiple swims a day. The house has lots of rooms to unwind and curl up with a magazine or device. And the backyard had multiple places to sit and relax and watch the fireflies at night while eating ice cream with our son. There are beautiful plantings everywhere along the yard. And the house was immaculate. Beds were comfy and there were plenty of extra towels and blankets (I get cold at night). We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

When we arrived Victor was waiting for us.
Showed us all around and then took us to get our hire car and waited for us then led us back to the house.
Victor is a charming man and let my son stay later on vacating day as the flight to England was at 8pm.
Would highly recommend the house to larger groups who want some space.
Thanks again Victor.

The kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms have been updated and were comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well and masked the sound of low flying executive jets. There was plenty of hot water for the showers. Our only complaint is that the house needed a thorough dusting and vacuuming before we arrived. Other than that we enjoyed our one week stay in Hackensack with our seven family members. The dining and living room were very enjoyable!

The house was just down the block from the NJ Transit bus to take us to NY! Even my 81 year old mother was able to walk it! The house is gorgeous and hag plenty of room for the adults and the teens! Victor was very accommodating to our check in time (we didn’t arrive until after 1am!) and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again if we go back to NJ or NY.

We loved renting Victor's home in Hackensack for a week during July 4th Holiday 2018. There were eight of us (two seniors, four adults, two kids) and there was more than enough room in this large four story house. The house was super clean and also beautiful, with many rooms and areas to spend time in. We enjoyed the lovely backyard patio and pool most of the late afternoons as well. My husband and I stayed in the master suite on the fourth floor and from there we could not hear any noise in the rest of the house. We enjoyed the very well stocked kitchen and the large dining room where all eight of us could eat or play board games.
Victor was the best: responsive, great to work with and super helpful. One of the kids came down with an earache and Victor went above and beyond to help out in getting medical care for her. It was really above and beyond - thank you again Victor!
Travel into NYC was easy, with the Express Bus stop two blocks away. I was expecting a typical city bus, but it was a nice plushy coach bus with great A/C and the NYC Port Authority was also nicer than expected. We took the Express Bus back from NYC at several different times of day and it only took 25-29 minutes each time.
In all, a wonderful experience that we highly recommend!! (Tip: while in Hackensack, check out the Chit Chat Diner - fun place to eat with expansive menu, delicious dessert display and a great reuben).

Six females-ages 62, 40, 46, 12, 16, and 13. Plenty of bathrooms and beds. Victor is very kind and accommodating—even took a couple of us to grocery store when we first got there to pick up a few items. Kitchen had plenty of basics and bathrooms had plenty of towels for bathing and also beach towels for the pool! Was great to come home from long day in city sightseeing and be able to cool off in pool! Very safe and quiet neighborhood. Bus was two and 1/2 blocks down and express bus took about 45-60 minutes in morning to go in to city and only about 35 minutes back home in evening. For the six of us it cost less than $25 per bus ride. One senior and 5 adult. Bus ran about every 15 minutes in morning and every half hour at night. House has amazing decor and very functional kitchen. Couldn’t use hot tub but that was ok. Loved it as did both my nieces and three great nieces! Highly recommend!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. There was plenty of space for us to all spread out. The kitchen was fully equipped and Victor was so incredibly kind. He met us at the house, showed us around, and even accommodated our early morning arrival (since we had flown on a redeye flight from the west coast)! We can only imagine how wonderful it would’ve been had the weather and tIme of year been conducive to using the pool and being outside more. The home is conveniently located to so much which allowed us to sight see as much as we could between attending my son’s hockey tournament. The old charm of the house was lovely. Highly recommended by this group of 8 that stayed!!

Charming 1912 colonial home in peaceful area that was ideal for our group of 7 adults. Outstanding rental property (5 full size bedrooms & 4 baths) that provided our group plenty of room to stay together comfortably. The owner, Victor, was a pleasure to deal with and made the rental process a breeze. Easy access to highways, grocery shopping, restaurants and public transportation to Port Authority terminal. Having off street parking in private drive was an added bonus, albeit a tight squeeze for large vehicles. As an early riser, enjoyed morning walks through neighborhood and coffee by poolside patio to start the day. Overall, highly recommend as entire group enjoyed our stay!

Everything about our experience was perfect from start to finish. Victor responded to our initial inquiry in a timely manner and booking was simple. He was friendly and answered all the questions we had in advance of our stay. He was very flexible about our arrival time as we didn't arrive until later in the evening. He took us on a tour of the house and gave us all necessary instructions and then was available for issues during the week. The house itself is lovely and very big. Four floors provide all the space any family could need. Rec room on the lowest level has a huge tv for movies and sports. Middle level has a well-equipped kitchen as well as a dining room which we used for playing games. Also on that level is a bathroom with a shower and a family room, living room and sun room for reading and relaxing. 2nd floor has 4 bedrooms, all with different themes. Rooms are very big and beds are super comfortable. There is a main bathroom with tub and shower and another one adjoining one of the bedrooms. Top floor is a massive master suite including bathroom with a claw tub and a shower room with with changing area. Every room was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Kitchens and bathrooms are stocked with everything you could need for your stay. There is nothing we had to buy except food. The outside of the house is equally as magnificent. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the pool area and eating outdoors. The area is also fantastic with lots of places in walking and biking distance. There are some great shopping malls that aren't far. Travel into NYC is a breeze. Quick walk to the bus stop where the wait is never more than 10-15 minutes. You arrive at the Port Authority within the hour. From there you can walk or grab a cab or a bus anywhere. We are grateful for our time in the city as well as the time we spent in this beautiful property. This house is truly a "home away from home". Thank you Victor! :)

We were two families with 8 person in total. The location of the house was just perfect for us. Close to Manhattan with bus transportation (30min.). The house was more than just right. Big rooms for everyone to be together or just By your self what ever was the feeling. Everything was in order. The jewel of garden was the swiming pool (relaction after day in Manhattan). Victor the owner was more than just key deliver. He was helping us in various business when ever we needed. Big thank you for a great stay. Definatelly worth of visiting.

This home is museum quality. Every single room is beautiful and immaculate. Victor was the perfect host – he was always available but never obtrusive. I loved the fact that I could be in this beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood and still be within a 15 minute drive of Manhattan. I've already booked my next rental for next summer with the pool and Jacuzzi will be open.

My fiancee and I rented this home as a vacation home for my friends and family to stay for our wedding. It did not disappoint. The owner, Victor, assured that we had everything and the home is beautiful-inside and out. When we arrived and talked to Victor, he told us he was unsure if he would keep it as a rental during the next year. Apparently, another wedding couple rented from him and proceeded to invite a 100 guests over to celebrate. It would be a shame if this home were not for rent anymore. The five bedrooms fit each one of us and there is plenty of space and bathrooms. My favorite areas had to be the finished basement with the huge tv and the beautiful backyard. My, now wife, and I have told Victor we would love to come back. The home definitely was worth it!

I felt like I was cheating. I got way more lodging for way less money. A run-of-the-mill 12'x12" room in Manhattan will set you back $250/night. Here, you get an entire house for the same price, and you're only a 20 minutes bus ride away from the Port Authority Station in midtown Manhattan.
If you have a big group that wants to enjoy NYC, but doesn't want to pay NYC hotel rates, then you must stay at Victor's beautiful home. The interior is in excellent condition and gives a vibe of warmth and comfort. The backyard is large and very well kept. If it had been warmer, the pool would have been great. We BBQ'd 3 of the 6 nights we were there. The kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast and dinner, thereby saving additional funds.
I recommend this property without reservation. Victor took the time to show us all of the property when we checked in, and was very responsive the few times we had questions. You will love staying here.

This home is absolutely breathtaking, a dream house, a beautiful getaway from the city life I live every day. The house is a 100 year old Georgian home that has been renovated into a modern but homey intertior. The house was practically spotless when we arrived, in perfect condition, and the house is equipped with everything you might need during your visit. And if you do in fact require anything, Victor is more than accommodating.
My stay was a little more unusual than most -- I filmed my student thesis here (and had 13 other guests with me). This strange circumstance however should carry a lot of weight because not only is the home beautiful enough to put on film, but I asked so much of Victor by allowing this to happen on his property. Even with the extra hassle, Victor treated us like any other guests and provided excellent customer service.
I would definitely recommend this property for a stay in Hackensack. Its a wonderfully quaint small town and this house is the perfect getaway.
