About this house rental
Only a short drive from the pristine Bridgewater Bay, Discovery Bay and 20 minutes from Portland; the magnificently restored St. Peter's Church, which was built in 1883 and held its first service on 5 August 1884 has style, character, sophistication and charm and is certainly a destination of distinction.
The inside restoration of the Church is a revelation.
Remnants of the old Church still feature; the wooden staircase to the pulpit, white monastic walls, local hardwood polished floor boards and ceilings of Oregon beams and kauri, even some of the pews have been used. The free standing wood fire is positioned centrally in the main living area and emits a warm glow heating the inside of the church on those cold winter nights. The rural views are spectacular too; roaming hills, cattle, green grass and bushland. There is a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.
The beautiful and unique surroundings of Cape Bridgewater offer a range of the county’s most amazing and breathtaking sights including the Bridgewater Blowholes, superb coastal walks, the Petrified Forest, Bridgewater Lakes, seasonal whale watching and perhaps most notably, a colony of seals which can be viewed year-round either by seal tours or wonderful walking tracks.
If you are looking for a relaxing and soothing retreat from your busy city life, then look no further. Cape Bridgewater is the place to visit and unwind.
Pets welcomed. Fully fenced acre property. Please note that phone reception with certain service providers can be patchy, we find Telstra works well. WiFi available.

A unique historical property with a beautiful blend of new and old features. Unfortunately the weather was extremely wild, wet and windy which limited our activities in the area. We were grateful for the good supply of firewood! A few torches wouldn’t go astray as we did have a power cut.

Beautifully renovated gothic style church sitting in an acre of manicured grounds surrounded by peaceful grazing cows. Perfect for our dog

My partner and i stayed for our anniversary. We had the best stay. Our only let down was the bad weather that managed to hit. The property was well kept and we really enjoyed our time here.

We stayed with our two dogs and we all loved it. The dogs loved the huge (fenced in) yard to explore.
The daily temperatures were between 5-15 and the fire kept the place really warm.
It is so very quaint, we recommend indeed. The local beach is a dog-off-lead walk and it has a cafe too.

The fire kept the living room comfortably warm.
I couldn’t get the spa going, but everything else about the property was lovely.

We had an issue on the day of our arrival, but we were impressed with how promptly & efficiently it was handled by our host. The location was perfect - very peaceful in the countryside. The accommodation itself was lovely and very unique and atmospheric. All mod cons in an olde world setting. As advertised there is good Wifi, but depending on your phone provider you may not have phone coverage. There is a large fenced backyard for pets.

Absolutely loved this place. Incredibly peaceful (best sleep in ages). We were welcomed by a koala in the garden too. Our dog loved it too. Great secured garden area for zoomies and chasing her ball.
Highly recommended and we will certainly be heading back.

We had the most amazing stay at St Peter’s Church. Just heavenly! (Sorry, couldn’t resist…🙂) The place is beautifully presented and sits in a peaceful rural setting. Has everything you need for a great stay.
Samantha was so wonderful to deal with and very accommodating with my having to change my booking! Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay at this Church, being a new experience. Every convenience is there for comfort, especially the log fire which was supplied with lots of timber to keep us warm. We had a pleasant visit from Samantha’s friend Peter who made a courtesy visit to make sure we didn’t need anything. The Church is a pleasant drive to Cape Bridgewater and Portland – a really good way to spend five nights relaxing and enjoying the countryside. Many thanks for opening your home to us…with regards….Bill and Allen Outlaw

Such a well-stocked, unique place, in a gorgeous pocket of Victoria. Check-in was simple, and communication in the lead up was very helpful. The central fire warms the place perfectly. I think I will return!

A unique building in a beautiful quiet, isolated spot just out of town. Well appointed, homely & so comfortable. Loved the beach & the walks along that section of the Great SouthWest walk

I’ve always wanted to stay in a church so was really pleased we chose St Peters for our first foray…it was made even better that our dog could enjoy the fully fenced acre & explore the garden as well as also being welcomed inside. The accommodation itself was lovely and inviting with everything you could possibly need. We have stayed in many places on all levels and this was fantastic value for a comfortable, warm and inviting space. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom had everything you needed….lots of extras are supplied throughout the house as well. Samantha was a great communicator and very friendly which has made our stay perfect. It’s a little gem on a hill and you really feel like you are escaping to the country….we will definitely return to this lovely accommodation.
Thankyou Samantha.

This stay far exceeded our expectations. The renovated church was so warm and beautifully set up. The kitchen had everything required - indeed we cooked up several gourmet feasts during our week-long stay. The grounds were absolutely amazing for our Golden Retriever puppy - he spent many hours exploring, galloping around, and spying on cows - all from the safety of a well fenced property. The property is in an absolutely serene area, in an unbelievably beautiful part of Victoria. Thank-you for making this one of our best holidays.

Excellent location, thanks for letting us bring our cat on our getaway. Keen attention to detail and provision of everything we needed. Might suggest upgrading the internet, but we did enjoy the old school vibes.

Comfortable, quiet, delightful country location
We had a wonderful stay at St Peter’s. The garden is spacious and well fenced, which meant that our dog Lou chased his ball non stop.
St Peter’s is in a quiet country lane, 10 minutes from the Cape Bridgewater beach and cafe. The night sky full of stars, absolutely quiet. Couldn’t ask for more. Also Samantha is a wonderful host.
