It was a boat! Surprisingly comfortable room and bed for the budget cabin. Nice soft fluffy pillows. Travelling by ferry was super fun, the food was lovely, the entertainment was amazing- the band and singer were so good and charismatic. The view at sunrise from deck was beautiful. And it was from one delightful city to another. I would love to do this again.
Nothing!

Excellent idea for a trip between Oslo & Copenhagen: hotel, transport & entertainment combined all in one (and on very cheap of you go just for their cheaper /standard cabins). You can go back the same route, by ferry (you have to take all your bags from the ferry although there are lockers right in the terminal building by the check-ins, just need coins for that), spending about 4 hours in the city in between, from around 10am to 2.30pm (we booked a 1.5 hours walking tour & had time left to browse the streets on our own & have lunch) On a ferry there is good choice of restaurants & cafe, a duty free shop & a night club with quiz/music/performance programme, themed each day. We did not use jacuzzi/sauna but you could, and they were not busy. All restaurants & cafes & their food are good. At Seven Seas restaurant you pay 280 DKK pp & have unlimited buffet, with massive choice. The fresh fish & shellfish were great, as well as meat dishes, bread section & desserts & lots of other meals. Italian restaurant was good too, serves very big portions. Coffee /breakfast cafe was great, excellent coffee & fresh bakery. We booked a return journey, in a standard cabin with window & back without a window, and the one without turned out to be a better layout, with TV & bigger bathroom, and twice cheaper.
Generally all good. Although I was under impression we’ll arrive to Oslo at 9am-ish, and booked a city tour which we were late for as we arrived past 10am & also had a long queue to check out/go through the customs in Oslo (unlike in Copenhagen). Some of the salad/fruit in Seven Seas restaurant were not fresh.

We liked the experience of sleeping over in a ferry. The beddings were clean. Taking the ferry is a good way to save money because you are paying for both the hotel accommodation and transportation at less than half the cost, especially for a family of 4 like us.
The room was small for 4 people - there was hardly any space for our 4 luggages. We expected this though so it should not be a problem.

An economy cabin should not be promoted as ideal for 4 adults. Too tight and uncomfortable. Also the toilet stinks.

Very pleasant experience! We booked a Commodore cabin with a sea view. We were placed on deck 10 and this deck had a pool area. There were not a lot of people there so we managed to soak in the pool and the jacuzi. The restaurants seemed very nice. We had dinner in the 7 Seas and it was very delicious. Cabin was comfortable, clean and quiet. The ferry was sailing smoothly and there were no disturbances. We had water and sparkling wine in the fridge waiting for us. I definitely recommend trying this ferry at least once! It's much better than a plane to Oslo.
Wi-fi signal was a bit weak, but that is to be expected.

It was fun, I enjoyed the views. Not much stuff to do for teenage kids tho, they get bored quickly. Can recommend if you want to relax, chill on the top deck drinking beer and enjoy the sea. At least when the weather is sunny and warm. Also, It was cheaper to fly to Copenhagen and then take this ferry than fly directly to Oslo and stay there overnight.
If your deck and rooms are in the same area as the disco then you better go there and have fun instead of trying to fall asleep. It is quite noisy up until midnight

Definitely the way to travel from Copenhagen to Oslo! We sprung for Commodore Class and it was totally worth it, with a large comfortable cabin with sea view, breakfast delivered as room service, and the lovely staff even sent champagne and strawberries when they heard we were celebrating a birthday. The views coming into Oslo Harbour from the ferry are stunning. Everyone should do this trip in their life.
Not DFDS's fault but a Booking.com technical issue resulted in us having the wrong type of room at first. The staff sorted it out, but it shouldn't have been their responsibility. Also, the onboard WiFi is slow, but that's to be expected on a ferry.

The crew were amazing especially under the circumstances. We had been away some weeks and events had overtaken our trip.
