About this house rental
Cedar Country Retreat has a warm country feel, with all of the modern amenities. It has been recently renovated with a brand new bathroom and updated kitchen, but still retains its rustic charm.
Nestled in the heart of Halls Gap and only a short ten minute stroll to the famous "Coolas Ice-Creamery", this beautifully styled property offers you more than just accommodation, but a home away from home.
All of our guests receive a complementary bottle of local wine and chocolates, as well as the beautiful "VIVE" body products. We have two split systems on WIFI which we turn on prior to our guests arrival, ensuring the house is cosy and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We also have a coonara wood fire heater ready to light on your arrival. Strictly no flame candles, however we do provide several remote control flameless candles for the romantics at heart.
The three beautifully appointed bedrooms are all located upstairs and can comfortably sleep six people. Each room has its own personality, with sweeping mountain views from every room. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a romantic setting and a deck looking east across Mount Ida with the west window looking out towards the Pinnacle. Nothing better than waking up to the sunrise over the mountain. Bedroom two, which we've named "the Flying Scotsman" has more of a masculine feel, with a queen size bed and reading nook with chair for those relaxing winter days, simply enjoying the view to the mountains, or reading a good book. Bedroom three has two single beds, again looking across to Mount Ida. Also upstairs is a large bathroom with over-the-bath shower and toilet.
Downstairs, we have a new bathroom with beautiful French tub, large shower, toilet and a new front-loader washing machine. The bright downstairs kitchen has been fully revamped with new appliances, family size fridge, dishwasher and beautiful porcelain sink. This kitchen has everything you need, including a coffee machine and good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
From the kitchen into the dining and living room, comfy sofa and chairs, TV and stereo, with a selection of DVDs and CDs.
A large over-sized dining table easily accommodates a group of six for meal times, playing board games or cards. Several magazines, books and board games are also available to fill in the time when you're done with exploring and just want to spend some time indoors.
Lots of interesting things to look at throughout the house giving it its own quirky personality.
Outside, we have table and six chairs as well as a barbeque. Also available is a chiminea (only for use in the cooler months).
Please note: due to all of the bedrooms being upstairs and the outdoor deck also being upstairs, our property is not suitable for young children.
For your information, we have two security cameras installed at our property. One is located on the carport looking at the driveway, the other is located under the carport looking at the keysafe. These are for the security of our property only.

This pretty cottage was perfect for our family Easter weekend with plenty of living space, three cosy bedrooms, a well stocked kitchen and a sunny outdoor veranda. Everything was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable and there are three reverse cycle air conditioners as well as a wood fireplace which would be nice in the cooler weather. Would definitely book again.

We had such a lovely stay here. The house is beautifully presented and well stocked with all the basics. After a morning hiking in the drizzle, this was the perfect place to then curl up in front of the fire with a bottle of wine. Very conveniently located, and Vicki and Ashley were very responsive in all communications. Highly recommended.

From the moment we unlocked the front door you could see the effort made to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Small touches like the extensively packed hot drink rack with tea, coffee and hot chocolate, The well stocked fireplace with plenty of extra wood for the cooler nights, the bottle of wine and chocolates were a nice touch. A spacious living area for the entire family, kitchen with those essential items you need and comfortable bedrooms. Thank you so much Ash and Vicki for hosting our family.

The house was perfect and so beautifully decorated we just loved it the minute we opened the door, it was better than we even expected from the photos. It feels really homey and with both the fireplace and split systems it was so nice and warm. All bedrooms are so gorgeously decorated that even tossing a coin to pick which room was a hard decision! Location was perfect for all of our activities and only a short drive for anything else. The house was also spotless and both bathrooms are nice and big. Ashley and Vicki were great hosts and always in contact if needed. I highly recommend Cedar Country Cottage and would definitely stay again if we came back to Halls Gap.

Beautiful getaway
We were two couples and had a couple of lovely nights at this cottage. The cottage was extremely comfortable and well-appointed, perfect base for exploring the Grampians and we really enjoyed our evenings around the fire. Communication was great throughout, we'd love to come back!

That's what's we mean with "hyggelig".
"Hyggelig" mean cosy in Danish and reflects that warm, snuggly feeling where you disappear on the couch, watch the fireplace, and enjoy a hot chocolate or wine. Besides all the good stuff of Halls Gap and its surroundings, this is how you are supposed to celebrate life and enjoy its good moments.
Australia should have many more of these types of homes and ditch the harsh white lights, cold floors, and big leather, stubby-holder couches neatly surrounding the omni-present tv-set.
Big thanks to the owners who did a brilliant job!
PS: One note, It would be really customer focussed if the check-out time would have been 12pm instead of 10am. That felt as being kicked out only to entertain the local cleaner.

Exceptional
The property was awesome - beautifully laid out & styled it just created an immediate intimate & relaxed environment with so many thoughtful touches you wanted for nothing. The communication was faultless & having had to change the dates once booked - our hosts were considerate & amenable. We have stayed at a lot of places mid- high range over the years & this was by far the most outstanding. And even though it rained putting an end to some of the walks we'd planned in the area - the thought of sitting by the fire on a rainy day in such a lovely environment was no hardship. It was a fantastic weekend. Cheers

Fabulous stay in gorgeous house
This house has it all. It was perfect for our family getaway for my Dad’s 70th for 5 adults. It is absolutely gorgeous, so comfortable, has everything and really homely. It really is a home away from home. We had a wonderful time exploring the Grampians and lots of laughs playing cards and board games at the house. It was a great base between hiking and bike rides and really relaxing. Thanks for the wonderful memories. We hope to be back some day soon.

Loved it!!
Such a gorgeous place! They went to a big effort decorating the house to make it very homey. It deserved being featured in Australian Country Magazine. Congrats!! The air conditioners were very useful as it was very hot during part of our stay. Our bed was very comfy and had a choice of pillows. Thanks again!!

Great location
Six of us (all adults) were very comfortable, and the place is well set up. Only complaint was the down-stairs shower which wasn't working, making it a little difficult with just the one shower between us. Otherwise, this a really nice place in which to stay, and communications with Ashley were easy and prompt.

Wonderfully thoughtful..
We absolutely loved our stay at Cedar Country Retreat.. from the minute we arrived we felt at home.
We arrived on a wintery afternoon to a warm & inviting home thanks to the thoughtful owners who had left the heating on for us. Check in and out was effortless.
This beautifully styled home has a warm cosy feel and each room exudes luxury country living. We loved the fully equipped kitchen to cook all of our meals and loved nothing more than coming home at the end of a long day of hiking & sitting in front of the fireplace.
The property is close to the general store & restaurants and is only a short drive to most hikes. The property managers were absolutely lovely to deal with and responded quickly to any queries we had including our request to extend our stay.
We will not hesitate to stay here again & would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of staying here :)

A great place to feel at home in amongst the grampians
We had such a lovely stay at the Cedar Country Retreat. Arriving on a cold winters afternoon our hosts had the house warming for us with the fire going and a complimentary bottle of local red wine and chocolates to boot.
Beautifully styled and with everything we needed to be able to cook our own meals and feel at home, my partner and I were able to have a relaxing break away from the city.
Nice and close to town and a couple of the local restaurants all within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.
