The Villages is a gated community located within the prestigious Mauna Lani Resort famous for the Francis H. I’I Brown, 36 hole golf complex. The Villages also includes it’s own exercise facility and private pool and heated spa.
Interior spaces include flat screen TV's in the living room and master suite and wireless, high speed Internet service. All spaces include solid mahogany doors and trim with bronze hardware. Napua at Mauna Lani Beach Club -- Open for lunch daily, 11 am to 4 pm. Open for dinner, 5 pm to 9 pm, but check, as days are seasonal. Usually closed for dinner on Mondays. 808-885-5910. Good fish tacos and fish and chips for lunch. Reservations recommended.
Petroglyphs - Petroglyphs are ancient Hawaiian carvings on lava stone. The Malama Petroglyph Trail is a1-1/2 mile round trip hike that takes you through the Puako Petroglyph Archeological District, maybe five minutes from our entrance. The walk takes about 25 minutes. It is right next to Holoholo Kai Beach Park and they share the same parking lot. The Park has a comfort station, water, and grass and tables for a picnic, and a great ocean view.
The Park and Malama Trail are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm and the access gates are closed tight at 6:30 pm, so watch your time or walk home. BUT BE ADVISED: wear shoes on the trail. Thorns from the kiawe trees are sharp and wicked. No shoes mean really hurt feet. Wear a hat. And take water with you. It can get very hot in the afternoon, so an early morning walk is suggested. And yes, it is worth the effort.
Take N. Kaniku Drive towards the Fairmont Orchid (left turn from our entrances). Turn right just before the entrance to Fairmont and that road will end at the parking lot.
Kalahuipua'a Historical Park and Trails - Just south of The Shops and on the road to the Mauna Lani Spa, this is a short walk to the fishponds. The park is open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The parking lot has a comfort station. You should wear shoes and a hat, and take water with you.
A two minute drive from our entrance. Take the first left past The Shops. It is the road to the Mauna Lani Spa. Take the first right into the park's parking lot. The gate is closed and locked at 6:30 pm.
Historic Fishponds - This is a leisurely walk between the Mauna Lani Resort and the Baby Beach. It is a must see. An easy walk, tennis shoes are nice, but you can get away with sandals or flip flops if this is the only place you are walking.
Honoka'ope Beach (aka 49 Black Sands Beach) an out of the way public beach located within the 49 Black Sands Beach gated community. The only amenities are a comfort station in the parking lot and a small shower at the beach. So, you need to take food, water, beach mats, etc. The beach is a short 2 minute walk from the parking lot. It is quiet and only gets a crowd on holidays and weekends, but even then it is not usually "crowded." If the wind is up, and the sea choppy, swimming can be a challenge. But otherwise a very nice beach
Easy to get to. On the way to the Beach Club, take the second left past the circle. There is a marker on the right side of the road that says "Shoreline Access." You are going through a gated community so you must check in with the security guard and give your name and a phone number, and your car license is written down.
Hiking - If you really want to hike, you can take the Beach Access Trail. It goes from Puako in the north, past Holoholo Kai Beach Park, The Orchid, The Mauna Lani, through the Fishponds and Baby Beach, around Mauna Lani Point, to Honoka'ope Beach in the south. The portion from the fishpond to Honoka'ope Beach is the ancient Ala Kahakai trail and takes about an hour, but the scenery is great.

We loved our stay over Spring break in this beautiful home! It was perfect for grandparents with our children and grandkids. We loved the private beach club and the pool! So nice to have pool toys and beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers to use. Having the market and Coffee shop just around the corner was super convenient. We would definitely return but need more than 6 days!

This unit was beautiful and extremely well stocked, one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed in. Our children loved the toys and crafts that were available for us (sand toys, pool toys, scooters, stickers, game, etc), they were such a hit and made it easier for us. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, baking, grilling, even kid friendly items. Big bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets made it feel extra special and had plenty of room for our multi-generational family trip. It was a 10 minute walk to the shopping center, 5 minute walk to the pool, and 5 minute drive to the beach club. We would definitely stay here again and appreciate the quick responses from property management. Thank you for a great stay.

This property is worth every penny ! We’ve stayed at many a short term rental and this one is far superior to all. Believe the pictures! We stayed for almost 4 weeks and let at home from the moment we walked in the house. The kitchen is top notch with anything amd everything available for those who love to cook. The layout of the house is perfect, the deck and grill and table are perfect for outdoor eating. Best of all are the nano doors that make the entire living area expansive and open air.
The access for the Muana Lani beach was a bonus- don’t miss the great snorkeling !

Love this area to Vacation in Paradise. We have stayed in this development several times and these homes are just beautiful! They are very spacious, this one has two master bedrooms and a third room with a full bed and bunk beds. Kitchen is well equipped and the best part is the beach club for us!! We highly recommend this!! Aloha

This property was fantastic! It had everything we needed for our stay. The pics and description are very accurate. There was plenty of room for everyone, we had a total of 6 adults and it was great that each bedroom had it's own bathroom. I would not hesitate to book this location again, the complex is beautiful and quiet. Diffidently 5 stars!

Beautiful spot in Mauna Lani!
We love the Villages in Mauna Lani and the area and have stayed in a number of these units. This one has just had the living and dining room furniture updated which was a nice surprise. Everything was clean and very well stocked. Downstairs furniture could use some updating and some of the linens (provided that to manager). Some minor issues but property manager was very helpful. The area is wonderful and close to shops. Beach club is great. Patio is a perfect spot to watch the sunset at night. Overall I would definitely recommend!

Great Vacation
We enjoyed our 10 days at the Mauna Lani Villages. This area can't beat, with close proximity to a very good grocery store and the wonderful beach club. The townhouse was clean, comfortable, and spacious with nice views from the balcony. The Villages community is private and quiet. Jay was very responsive and easy to contact. We would definitely return.

My family LOVED this accommodation. It was just perfect for our family of five….plenty of room to spread out for three teenagers. The owners have thought of every detail to make a vacation in Mauna Lani perfect. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to the Big Island. Thank you!

We love Mauna Lani Villages
Beautiful home in fabulous location You can walk to many amenities including great grocery store. Short drive to many wonderful beaches. Cycling is great from here. House was spotless. Having arrived after midnight we really appreciated the outdoor lights being left on so we could easily spot the address. Also walking in to a few lights left on low, soft music playing and a welcome basket that included a fresh pineapple, coffee, cookies and some other goodies was a nice touch. Mahalo!

Big Island Thanksgiving
Property was exactly as advertised. No unpleasant surprises at all. It worked perfectly for our needs. It was very clean and well stocked with things you hate to have to pack, like beach towels, boogie boards, bug spray, some basic spices and oils for cooking, etc.

Luxury in paradise
We enjoyed all of the amenities the house and area had to offer. Home had all the things you can possibly need to have an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Plenty of room for our small group to spread out. Quiet well kept neighborhood and loved the private beach club. Thanks for sharing this slice of heaven with our family.

Super Place to Stay
We loved this Villa in the Villages at the Mauna Lani Resort. Absolutely superb condition inside and out. Plenty of great accommodation including an upstairs master with dressing room and en suite, and downstairs two large bedrooms with en suites. Great living areas, kitchen. and large outside balconies with a barbecue. Air conditioning and fans in all areas. Lock up garage. Surf mats, beach chairs etc all supplied. The whole Mauna Lani resort area is beautiful. Lovely calm beaches, warm clear blue/greenwater and lots of fish to see. Plenty of top golf available. Shops nearby. Various resort hotels with 5 minutes drive and we used their facilities without problem. Would highly recommend going to the Fairmont that has a nice beach and two excellent beachside restaurants. But it was access to the private Mauna Lani Beach Club with its own beach, bar and restaurant that was the highlight. A gorgeous spot.
Note that this property now has no water views as it seems vegetation nearby has grown to the point of excluding the view. But the outlook is still very nice and so for us not an issue at all.
Jay and Marla were a wonderful help assisting us generally and recommending what to do.
We will return!!

Room for improvement
We have stayed in a number of different places in the Mauna Lani area since 2008. This place is not the best value. The pool and gym areas are not as nice as the one in Kulalani or The Fairways. The grounds are well maintained but perhaps a little too well as I had to listen to lawnmowers and other loud equipment pretty much every day during our stay. The unit itself is really lacking in terms of kitchen equipment. For instance, there are no scissors, I had to purchase my own vegetable peeler and their wine glasses are some cheapo free wine glasses that they somehow inherited from the Shops. I like to enjoy my wine out of a proper wine glass - thank you very much! Also, their super unhealthy non-stick cookware is all scratched up on the bottom. To top it all off, the smoke detector batteries were dying while we were there so we were woken up not once but twice by the smoke alarms going off at around 3am. There are way better places to stay in the Mauna Lani area than this one!

Spacious, high quality home with three private "suites". Very comfortable and a great value!
This well-maintained, very clean home easily provides privacy for three couples and has ample common space for six or a few more to relax. Seating for three at the bar, six in the living room, six at the deck table (near the barbeque), two more on the other end of the deck, and another six can sit around the main dining room table. Flow from the interior to the deck is excellent, with double sliding doors from the living room and another single sliding door from the dining room. Both sliders have separate sliding screen doors. High quality appliances throughout. I own and operate three vacation rentals and understand the constant investment required to keep a home in this great a condition. I love the solid wood trim and doors and the AC set up: separate temperature controls for the master suite, living area, and lower two bedrooms. I hope this home is available when I return to the island.

Family Vacation
Our vacation was amazing. The condo was nice and airy. We travelled with three families and there was lots of room. We were ten minutes away from several beaches. The little grocery store was walking distance and was very well stocked. The kitchen was great, well equipped and with lots of room for more than one "chef". We also appreciated the BBQ on the deck. We were very impressed with the large en suite in every bedroom.

Family vacation - Awesome value
The condo was fabulous. It was in excellent condition, lots of space and access. Our vacation was a family get together. There were 3 families comfortably in the condo. Each bedroom has an ensuite, and is fully contained. The kitchen is amazing, and we were able to easily prepare meals with out getting in the way. The condo is a great central point for access to the entire island. Access to beaches including the beach club is good. All amenities are close by. The property manager was very helpful, and took care of all questions quickly and provided recommendations for our travels. We had a fantastic time, and we all were very impressed with this property. We would love to stay here again!

Great place in a great location
We stayed here here a week while exploring this side of the island. In terms of convenience, this is a very nice house in a good community with easy access to any amenity that you might need including groceries, coffee shop, a place to rent snorkel gear, a steak house, etc. and only 10 - 15 minutes away from even more shopping if that is what you are looking for. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable (the ones we used anyway), and the AC works well. My son might feel the TV was too small, but we did not come to Hawaii to watch TV :-) With the rental you get access to the beach club. We only went there once but it was very nice. More importantly as you are on the north side of Kona, you do not have to go through any of the Kona traffic to visit any of the beaches on this side (there are some great ones) or to tour the entire north side of the island.
