I booked this trip for a weekend in Saugatuck with my former coworkers for a mini reunion. It was the perfect location and size for our group of six. There was plenty of room to spread out. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was great.
It is walkable to downtown, probably around a mile. It is an old historic home but is nicely decorated, and it was very clean. The patio in the back and the outdoor fire pit are amazing! We had no issues during our weekend rental. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a rental for a group.

I liked the size of this property. There was enough space for my family of 10. Kids loved the big yard. I didn't like all the insects/critters inside the house. The house felt abandoned.

Not a well-maintained property. Amenities stated there was a hot tub and a grill available. "Hot Tub" was a bath with jets. No propane to be used for the grill. Property owner blamed the previous guests for using it all. When we contacted them to see if there was more, we got a response hours later after we already had eaten dinner. We cooked inside but found 4 empty salt containers, an empty bottle of olive oil, and the rest of their spices were so damp, they were unusable.
There were no bathroom supplies. All we had was watered down hand soap to shower with.
We expressed our disappointment with the host, and they just stopped responding after we checked out.
Not worth the money.

We were impressed with this historic home, and appreciated the large outdoor space to enjoy games and relaxation with tables and chairs aplenty. Celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary with the 8 people who stayed at the property and 8 others who joined in for a few evening hours.

We needed a place in town that would accommodate a group of 8 (4 couples) and allow us to book only one night. This was it! This older home has tons of character and provided exactly what we needed which was clean beds, bathrooms to get ready in, and a fridge for our happy hour bevs. Check in and out was super easy.
Only complaint was that it’s a 20 min walk from downtown. But steps we all needed after the food and drink we had that weekend!

This was a really cool old house. Lots of room both inside and out. Highly recommend.
4.8
It was nice to all stay together and be able to unwind and relax after long days of sightseeing.

Overall I loved. The only sad thing is the listing said that there is a hot tub but we couldn’t find it anywhere.

We used the house for a getaway night with 3 other couples. It was perfect!

Group of friends stayed here when we all were in town for a wedding. Place was clean and the host communicated well. There was a nice fire started when we arrived. It's a nice cozy house to stay in, has a lot of character.

this was only our second house rental ever and wasn't really sure what to expect. The host responded to all my questions and e everything was ready for us when we got there.
The pictures don't do the property justice at all. Very charming property with lots of history. More then ample glassware, dishes, cookware, towels etc. Due to winter weather didn't use patio/outdoor space, but that would just be an added bonus.
Glad we found this place!

We stayed here one night for the Douglas Halloween Parade and we absolutely loved the house! It is a unique and cozy place that is well kept and has so many cool little nooks and small living areas throughout. The check-in process was extremely easy. Would definitely consider staying here again!

We stayed here for a Bachlorette party. The property owner was great, location was great and we enjoyed the charm of the house! The property owner even had a fire started in the fireplace when we arrived.

Everything was perfect. Came in on a cold rainy day with a fire already started! The host responded quickly and even stopped by later in the evening when we were having issues trying to figure out the TV. He was very accommodating letting us have a late check out and an early check-in if we wanted. Would recommend and do it all again!

This place is a gem. The history of this location, the energy, the rooms all have a distinct feel of home. Communication with the owner was seamless and very receptive.
I only stayed one night but I am looking forward to booking a week stay. Such a wonderful place to stay.

The house was charming and felt very comfortable. check-in was super easy and our host communicated perfectly. We will definitely stay when we come back to the area.

I'm sorry to say, but we did not have the best experience because 2 of the bedrooms were very disappointing. The downstairs small bedroom was infested with bugs coming in from the ceiling fan area and the upstairs small bed was not suitable for two people as it was uncomfortable and we did not sleep.
On the plus side, the master bedrooms were very nice and spacious as well as the backyard, which had a great fire pit and badmitton.
As far as the sitting areas, the couches in the living room were so old they felt damp and soggy. We all agreed that the house felt better suited as a museum than a VRBO. Either that or the furniture should be replaced to feel a bit more clean and inviting for people to want to sit on it.
Overall, we really needed 3 usable bedrooms, but my husband and I were out of luck as our other friends took the master bedrooms, since they were celebrating birthdays. The two of us got horrible sleep and weren't well rested for the wedding we came in town for. We felt that we didn't get what we paid for, so that was disappointed.

This home is nicelt furnished, clean and neat. Its close to.town and it is in a quiet neighborhood. Biking would be easy from the house and close to many wineries. Loved oir stay.

The property is tucked backed off the road but still clearly visible. The house appeared large with a lot of vegetation around it. Entry is via the back door which is up several steps of a deck leading to the back door kitchen/living space. There was no railing up the main deck steps so if you have balance issues you can walk over to the right about 10 feet where there is a railing in the corner.
We were there to go to a concert at the Arts Center where Jersey Boys were playing so we spent about an hour in the home before we left. The house is located a few minutes from downtown and is very conveniently located to shopping, dining, boating and entertainment. We drove but there are bikes provided at the house if you prefer to bike.
The furnishings in the house are antique and fit perfectly into the decor of this very old house. As with many very old houses that have been added on to we found several sitting rooms but none very large to accommodate a larger group. As a group of 4 we were very comfortable each of us having our own bedroom. Beds were very comfortable with sheets and light quilts but we needed a blanket or two but couldn’t find any. Towels were thick and soft. Be sure to bring your own bar soap because we couldn’t find any and used the liquid soap to shower with. Also lighting was dim in many areas. If you need more light in the bathroom bring your own. All in all it was a short stay with us leaving the following morning.

We had a wonderful time. We loved how close the house was to Saugatuck. The house was beautiful and comfortable.

The property was older, very spacious for 8, had everything u need and very nice. It is a home that you feel at home once you walk in. We truly enjoyed our stay there
Everything was within a Short distance and easy to get to. The owner was very nice and stopped by after we got there to introduce himself.
I recommend to stay here.
A light at the end of the drive would be nice as it gets super dark at night and hard to see entrance
We would definitely stay there again if in the area. 💕

House was called historic, which it was, BUT that also means old. Like old plumbing (don't flush while someone is in the shower). Main kitchen was modern and nice, BUT furniture looked like something a frat house would grab from off the street. Mildew on the outside siding off the back porch, washing machine not to be used, told to keep food in frig or cooler because of mice (which got into some bread left out in a bag on the counter). Was over priced for what you got. The house did have it's charm, but the other factors took away from that. Would not stay here agan.

I have several concerns with this property. The biggest being the mouse infestation. During the night, several of the rooms had beetles that were flying throughout the rooms and landing on us in the beds. We are assuming they came in from the window air conditioner units not being sealed properly. After our first night, there was mouse poop all over the kitchen counters, the table, the pantry, and the floors. There were also droppings on our baby’s toys, high chair, and inside the stroller. We contacted the owner, as we had a baby with us, and were very concerned for the sanitation of the house. We requested that the owner come and clean the areas that the mice had been in. He told us that it had been a problem since July 4, and that he would come and do what he could. Before his arrival, we took pictures. However, when he came to the property, he stayed in the detached garage, and basement. He never cleaned the areas of concern. We verbally asked him about setting some traps, and he responded that he couldn’t let his renters see traps, so he wouldn’t be getting them. He also then proceeded to ask us to not leave a bad review on the property. He then stayed on the property for most of the day. It made us uneasy and seemed as though he was monitoring us. That night we saw one of the mice ran across the floor. The mice ate through several of our bags, and were in our suitcases. We were not allowed to use the washer or the dryer. So much more to say, but not enough
characters!

We had a blast on a girls getaway. Great location.

We had a wonderful stay.

Charming old house with lots of good reading materials and games. Large backyard set up with badminton. However, there were some things that I think other renters might want to be aware of:
1. WIFI connection was worse than cellular
2. Bugs. Bugs. Bugs. Everywhere (yes in bedrooms). Spiders, moths, giant ants. Oh, and two giant wasps' nests outside of one of the back patio doors.
3. There wasn't a communal space for all of us to relax and hang out. For reference, we had 4 adults, two teens, and three 5-8 year olds. We didn't fit together in any space.
4. Two bathrooms, but not sufficient mirror space for makeup. Four ladies getting ready for a wedding and an old house with equally old lighting ...
5. The landscaping seemed as if the place was abandoned or maybe just unloved. Plants were creeping over walkways.
6. Mouse droppings overnight on the kitchen table.
7. The washer and dryer were out of order due to guests that stayed right before us. We had been traveling prior and desperately needed to do laundry. 5 kids!

Although our stay was short as we were in town for 1 night for a wedding, this house was amazing. From the charm of the place to the art and the amazing back yard, I see how this home is a great spot for a full weekend or vacation in Saugatuck. Will definitely consider booking again if I have a group of friends looking to stay again.

We booked this for a lowkey girls trip and the place was super cute and nice and a perfect place for our group.

Check in process was smooth, clean place. Needed a place to lay our heads for the one night we were in Saugatuck. It was perfect!
4.8
The house looked a little forboding upon arrival but by time we left we felt privileged to have stayed in a home that by its age would usually be a museum. Check-in was very welcoming and hospitable. We were pleasantly surprised at the historic note left with checkout instructions. It’s definitely paved the way for grace for the quirkiness of the floor plan. We all love old homes so it was a good fit. We also enjoyed the quietness of the neighborhood. The only draw back is that it felt neglected; there were cobwebs throughout and the yard and gardens were in need of a spring cleaning).

Was only there for one night but was a really cool place to stay. Lots of history in the walls and owner was very helpful and friendly.

We had a great stay !

Beds were so comfortable, and communication with host was A++. Fire prepared for us on arrival! It felt like home.

Huge house, lots of rooms. Close to town with lots of shops and food. Clean and well maintained. Enjoyed our stay! Everything we needed.

The 1st time I rented out it was absolutely no problems. 10/10 recommendations. The 2nd time I visited this home, the owner was very disrespectful and has a bad temper. One of my friends parked in his grass not realizing that is was a big deal, granted they shouldnt have done that & understands why he would be mad but some property alow that so I thought I wouldn’t be a big deal. Instead of just simply asking politely could I move it, he barged in the estate & literally cussed me out in front of all my friends. I understand his frustration but as a owner you should handle everything like a business & professionally and language and communication is a big part of that. I had no intentions of disrespecting his estate by having a car on his grass a little but the disrespectful, cussing to another grown adult will never be ok in my book. NEVER BOOK AGAIN.

This was the 4th time we have rented this house to put up family while in town. As always, check in was seamless. House was spotless and lovely. Perfect and homey.
4.8
Our extended family of 10 was very comfortable in this large, clean home-like setting. antique furnishings were attractive and comfortable. Kids enjoyed the large yard and location was very convenient to town of Saugatuck.
4.8
pros – house looked exactly like the pictures. Linens were soft, beds were comfortable. The house was clean. The outside fire pit area and yard was great.
Cons– house smelled musty. When you showered the water smelled like sewage, and then so did the house- we notified the host. In the upstairs bathroom the faucet at the sink and also the shower head never had more pressure than a trickle of water. None of the upstairs bedrooms have overhead lighting, so if was very difficult to see to put on make-up (we were there for a wedding)
Of note, not a pro or a con just things to be aware of: the house is multi-level and you can tell there were many additions so the floor is uneven in a lot of spots. There are signs that say watch your step, but you cant see these signs at night. The stairs are very steep and I could see how someone that was older or has difficulties with mobility or balance would have a very hard time getting up and down the stairs. The banister at the top of the staircase is not tightly secured and is wobbly. The front walkway of the house floods when it rains. You can’t leave out food or you will have small black ants. No full length mirror in the whole house
Was it fine, yes. Would I book there again, no.

We came to Saugatuck while our husbands were up north hunting. The house has a lot of character and we absolutely loved every bit of it. The outdoor firepit was amazing - quiet and secluded. The beds were extremely comfortable and we cherished the rich history of the home. Saugatuck was such a fun town for shopping and dining. Thank you for hosting the most wonderul weekend.

Historical home in a nice neighborhood. Many amenities that we did not use due to length of stay.
