About this house rental

Henrietta's is grand Art Deco home, one of only two original substantial redbrick houses built in Chewton. Recently rescued and restored as an original beauty, with a sandstone fireplace, grand front porch with serene views across the valley, polished floorboards, leadlight windows and beautiful indoor spa bath. Reverse cycle heating/cooling, Gas log fireplaces, beautiful gardens and outdoor bbq/entertaining area. A fully functioning kitchen with coffee machine and essential cooking provisions is provided. An eclectic mix of antique persian rugs, oriental artworks, empire style furnishings, bespoke bathroom mural and high art deco ceilings make for an elegant and fascinating visual experience.

Immediately nearby there are walking tracks through forests with abundant wildlife, goldfields and historical sites. Discover antique stores in Chewton, and Henrietta's is only a 5 minute drive to Castlemaine and the cafe/foodie/arts/events always on offer year round. Visit the Wesley Hill Market on a Saturday morning and cook up a storm in the fully appointed kitchen. An ideal weekend retreat from the noise of the city!

Named for the lady the house was built for early last century, Henrietta's sits atop a site rich in Goldfields history. Over a hundred and fifty years ago the location was reputedly home to a surgeon, a pub, a Cobb & Co depot and a couple of other small titles. Numerous archeological curious have been unearthed in the gardens over the years, from fob watches to oriental currency, and can be found on display around the house.

Henrietta’s is a gorgeous cosy comfy cottage with everything you could possibly want/need for your stay. It was scrupulously clean and stocked with lots of lovely touches like breakfast foods, chocolates by the beds, lovely bathroom products, books and games, the list goes on. Very comfy beds with electric blankets if it’s a chilly night. Our host, Kerri, was a pleasure to deal with. We’ll definitely be back.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Had everything you could need and more including generous breakfast provisions. We were lucky with the weather so out furbabies could enjoy the wonderful garden with us as we sat outside and relaxed. The place has a secure fencing and the dogs were very safe there. The RedHill pub has new management so really enjoyed out dinner there and I would also recommend the Midland Bar restaurant if you want something more upmarket. A very nejoyable stay!

Kerri took great care and we appreciated the little touches like the fire going and music on upon arrival, even to the dog bowls ready for our furbaby! The breakfast items meant we didn’t have to shop greatly for the long weekend which was a real treat. Easy check-in and out, comfortable and safe backyard for our little dog Ripley. We will certainly return! Looking forward to a trip in summer to use the backyard more! Thank you!

Beautiful accomodation for a quiet getaway. The house was beautifully decorated, true to its heritage. It was lovely to see bits and pieces of history displayed too. It was very spacious, with more than enough room for two. The kitchen was well stocked and we were very comfortable. A very short drive to Castlemaine and close to all the sights. Loved it, would definitely recommend staying here.

Wow, The work Kerri has done is an absolute credit to her. The cleanest property I have ever stayed in. Everything has been carefully planned & thought of, for a short or long stay. All the little details & choices of coffee, Chai, Tea, breakfast items etc. were really appreciated, including the Chocolates. Lovely outdoor entertaining area, fully fenced & pet safe. Kerri has decorated the house with comfort, care & attention to the Art Deco era, everywhere you look there are curios to find in the cabinets & around the house. Close to lots of gold rush history, vibrant art and culture, cycling and walking tracks, heritage streetscapes, quality food and beverages ... Spar Country, waterfalls, lakes & Dams. We will return. Thank you Kerri for a lovely stay.

Henrietta's is a lovely and peaceful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The cottage is very nicely renovated and offers all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. It was very well cleaned and the fit out and furnishings are great. It is quiet and the heating works very well to provide a comfortable temperature. The kitchen has all you could need, and the range of cereals, the bottle of milk and the tea and coffee provided ensure you don't need to shop prior to arrival. Being pet friendly is an added bonus, and our faithful companion had a safe and relaxing stay also. Highly recommended.

The property has been sympathetically decorated to reflect the era of its construction, but with modern kitchen/bathroom etc. Kerri was friendly and responded quickly to any questions. Our stay was delayed due to the Melbourne Covid lockdown, and Kerri was very helpful in easing the re-booking process. So we had a late Spring (Nov) rather than mid Winter stay. We were well located to explore historic Chewton, Castlemaine and Maldon by bike. The house was beautifully decorated & Kerri provided all we needed for a comfortable stay. The bath was the best I have ever experienced!!

The attention to detail of Henrietta's was simply amazing. Everything seems to have been thought of, whether it is in the kitchen, bathroom and living but also to outdoor entertainment. We enjoyed the opportunity to sit outside in the clam of the back yard for a pre-dinner drink to the warmth and comfort of sitting in the formal living space. We will be back when we next visit the Castlemaine precinct.

Loved our stay at Henriettas. The spa and fire place made our stay incredibly relaxing, whilst the path across the road led into Castlemaine. It's a lovely walk full of kangaroos and birds.
