We cannot help but boast that the back door leads directly to the Delatite River and wonderful outdoor scenery of the Victorian High Country. Trout jump out of the water to tease you and daily visits from kangaroos, birds and the occasional deer make the stay even more exciting. A wonderful location for professional and amateur photographers, nature lovers and anyone who desires something very special.
The main accommodation comfortably caters for 3 families with 3 master king bedrooms, a bunk room for all the kids, and plenty of living and dining areas - all with beautifully designed interiors. Plus, there's an abundance of play equipment, both inside and outside. Play Shack®2 also features a drying room for guests' convenience during the damper months.
Inside Play Shack® 2, families are extremely spoilt. Two distinct wings of the house provide peace and quiet: on the ground floor there are beautiful vistas of the river and hills, while upstairs caters for fun and games for kids and adults in a spectacular games room with floor to ceiling windows and a rumpus area full of play equipment. Who can resist such classics as pool, ping pong, air hockey, foosball table and the classic Pacman arcade games console table. Our cupboards are full of games, books, toys, DVDs, and drawing items.
Outside there is so much space and privacy for the entire family. Adults can enjoy a quiet rest or drink by the river while the kids use the play equipment such as the trampoline, swing set and bikes, followed by a play in the river. There is a large second fridge located in the undercover 4 carport for easy access in the summer months.
For families with toddlers, we make life a little easier when packing the car; no need to pack porta cot, high chair, booster seats, a step to reach the sink, child's loo seat or even a potty.
Located on the same one acre of land, consisting of a semi-self-contained two bedrooms, one king & a bunk room with a double bed and 3 singles cabin newly constructed from recycled materials, it is perfect for another family, the in laws, or a private love shack for a couple. The price includes this cabin.
Due our extraordinary location of outstanding natural beauty, size and flexibility, we now offer our accommodation for intimate gatherings such as weddings, birthdays, milestone anniversaries and corporate events. Now with the introduction of a Play Shack® events coordinator we have everything covered - photographer, wedding planner, personal chef to come to the property to deliver or prepare and serve gourmet meal for all tastes. A special treat and very affordable. Clear instructions on what is expected of us was useful. The two shacks we booked were clean and comfortable. A dip in Delatite river was a refreshing start for each day after our daily morning exercises. Awesome views of green, unadulterated bushland, and visiting deer residents. Best of all...fresh air, quiet and peaceful surrounds accompanied by the daily symphony of morning birdsong...a much welcome pause from the noise, pollution, and crowds of city living.

The houses and the surrounding area were both very nice and beautiful. However, the check in procedure and the requirements imposed on the guests made the whole experience so unpleasant. The host required us to sign condition reports and anything that are not specified in the condition report could mean that we lose our bond. There wouldn't be any problems if the report covered major damages only. However, the host report of existing damages included every tiny thing. Examples: blue cue mark on the ceiling in the rumpus room (well, it took me 5 minutes to locate that tiny mark on the ceiling), scuff marks inside all cupboards (there are 20 cupboards in the house, should we go and look inside each and every of them?), chip to corner only of island bench kitchen (well, truth to be told, I couldn't find such chip and couldn't bother), various marks on fireplace top (hmmm, the house is like 20 years old and rented out, can we just assume that the fireplace top would have a few marks?), 1 small mark on wall paper (again, I could easily find 30 small marks on the wall, should I take pics and report ALL of them?), and the list went on with those tiny and useless conditions. We checked in late (around 8:15pm) and were very hungry but we were welcome by this condition report with a very specific instructions that we had to complete this condition report and inform the host with any conditions that were not already specified by the host (with photos to prove it) and we had to send back that signed report to them by midnight otherwise they would assume that we had accepted that report they prepared and anything not described in that report would be our faults. What happen next is that, instead of sit down and enjoy the nice house and relax and have a nice dinner, we spent the next 1.5 hours to go around the to look for existing issues that were not already described by the host. And voila, we actually found more than 10 things that were much worse than what they specified in their report (e.g, broken soccer table, big marks on the wall, etc.) We can't help but have the feeling that the host were trying to set a trap for us to step into. What more? The host removed the remote controls of the two split systems upstairs. Hello, we rented the whole house but we are not allowed to use these appliances?? Also, there is a wifi router that we can connect to but it didn't have internet access. We informed the host immediately but they didn't fix it for the 2 nights

Beautiful designed house surrounded by beautiful landscape
We had great memorable time with out family members, Adults gathering around the fire place with a drink, kids playing together upstairs. I can't say enough about the beautiful landscape surrounding the house, in the morning you watch the dears and the colourful birds, not to mention the colourful trees during this beautiful Autumn 🍂🍁🍃

Beautiful Retreat by the River!
Everyone was very impressed! We were a group of 18 on an R&R trip (Retreat & Recreation). Play Shack 2+4 was perfect for us. Big enough for all, and still very cozy, especially by the fireplace.
From other reviews we expected a river, but we did not expect it to be so close and so beautiful. With the gentle burble of the water, and amidst the hills, Play Shack was a great serene setting for our retreat. And Mt. Buller being so close was our chosen recreation!
We grew accustomed to the kangaroos that visited often (though it definitely was a surprise coming in the driveway for the first time! - after reading Suzanne's very detailed instructions to the property, to watch out for kangaroos lol). It was also enthralling to see the kookaburras fly so close, and a few of us even saw deer in the early morning.
The rooms were very comfortable and warm. And plenty of bathrooms to suit our large group. The bathroom upstairs was particularly appealing!
The kitchen had everything we needed too and more (e.g. great coffee! with stocked Nespresso). Suzanne made sure it was far from basic! She knows how to make her guests feel very much at home and genuine about it.
We didn't want to leave and so glad we stayed an extra night.
Our objective for this retreat for our young adults leaders was "self-care" (in return for all the service they give our youth groups) Play Shack 2+4 definitely was most conducive for our successful R&R!

Perfect Property for a Perfect Wedding!
We celebrated our perfect wedding on the beautiful grounds of Play Shack river front. Starting as a huge blank slate with endless opportunities, we were able to do it our way and to our budget, as other venues weren't ready or able to allow. When we mentioned ‘wedding’ Suzanne said CONGRATULATIONS rather than double the price! She provided contacts of local caterers, event hire and other suppliers whose efforts helped make our day amazing. We wanted a relaxed, fun wedding for all ages, having lots of time to get ready and not having to pack up in a hurry. Being affordable and flexible as a “wedding venue” is so rare and Suzanne went above and beyond to make sure that we were perfectly happy with our choice.
We were able to bring all of our dreams and ideas to life in the garden and along the river. From the morning to the end of such a magical day, we didn’t have to go anywhere but just enjoy the surroundings with dear friends and family. With Play Shack’s two properties on the same grounds, we were able to prepare separately with our parties and family and really enjoy the time without the usual wedding timing constraints. The photographer loved that he didn’t have to race between the bride and groom before the wedding and that the grounds had such a stunning array of photo opportunities.
Taking a whole weekend to get ready for the big day and then to be able to relax and enjoy time together afterwards made for an unforgettable experience. Play Shack’s amazing array of accommodation meant that all of our guests were comfortably accommodated nearby. We wish we could do it all again! Thank you sincerely Suzanne and the entire Play Shack team.

The perfect accommodation for a group trip
We had 5 families/couples stay at Playshack 2 & 4 for a group snow trip and the accommodation was perfect for our needs. The location was a very short drive to the Mt Buller resort entry, which was definitely handy. Plenty of space in an amazing house with a cosy winter cabin feel but modern and well equipped with great amenities. The house catered well for all ages, everyone had a great time in the rumpus room!!! The kangaroos in the backyard definitely got everyone excited no matter what age. We were lucky enough to have snow fall on our last day, making the already amazing views that much more spectacular.

We expected 'great', and found 'amazing'!
My extended family of some 20+ people has been going away once a year together for the last 15 years. This year, with a slightly smaller group (of 19) we opted for a Playshack alpine riverside stay. Suzanne was great to deal with, and organised cot beds for the smaller kids, and early check in for our group. The place was incredible, and did not disappoint. There was something for everyone at the property the whole time we were there. Where we would often pop out to see the local sights and attractions, this year we found ourselves instead spending more time lazing by the creek, or just relaxing at this five star property.
A highlight was watching the herds of deer prancing past the windows across the soft green lawns at dawn and dusk, as well as the birds and kangaroos. Felt like a beautiful hidden oasis with all the trimmings you could want.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to any other mid to large group.

Play Shack 2
Play Shack 2 is an amazing property situated along the river at Merrijig. We enjoyed this sensational accommodation with close friends from Geelong and they too were impressed with the property and beautiful surrounds & cannot wait to come back to this luxurious accommodation. The owner has thought of absolutely everything to ensure your stay is the best it can possibly be. We dined at the Mill Inn Merrijig and experienced the best home made pasta. On another evening we were fortunate to have the Mill Inn provide in-house catering of Paella. We would highly recommend this property for your next vacation.

Choose this one !
Playshack offered us everything we could ask for on our weekend at Mt. Buller. The house is warm and well-stocked. The hot water does not run out (which was much appreciated by 10 adults post-skiing). I thoroughly recommend booking this property for a trip away with family or friends. Suzanne was delightful to deal with.

Beautiful property, highly recommended!
Came in to a nice and cosy house with billiard table for the family to have a good time and trampoline for the kids to enjoy. Rooms were well organized for our big family of 16 pax. Very happy with our 2 night stay and wishing it had been longer. Loved the fire place area.

Excellent Holiday Home!!!!
If you are planning to go to Mt Buller than you cant go past this excellent accommodation. Perfect for all family & Friends with all the facilities and more that you could want. A word of caution though once you wake up to those views and beautiful house you may not want to leave. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed in as it felt like home from the moment you walk in. It’s great for Kids which has games room and outdoor play area a lots of room to play nonstop.
The whole place is perfect, clean, modern & set in a beautiful way you will not miss home. We are planning to come back in summer and have a great holiday again with all our friends. We did not have a chance to meet our hosts Suzanne & Chris but they were fantastic and very helpful. We left our purse and Jackets which was posted very next day. Our experience was wonderful and we would highly recommend this holiday house

Oh my goodness!
We had the most magnificent time at the Playshack! 16 of our family members enjoyed the absolute tranquility of the home and surrounding grounds for 7 nights and it was just pure bliss! The 7 children were completely entertained by the toys, games, books,crafting, trampoline, swings, bikes and electronics for hours on end, giving the adults plenty of time to sit and relax. And sit we did! In the dappled sunlight under the trees, by the creek, on the lounges, by the fire, on the couch and at the picnic tables. There were endless places to sit, relax and just enjoy doing next to nothing. We would recommend to anyone that this is a lovely place to stay! What a perfect holiday!
