The property is in a brilliant location, just a couple of minutes walk from both the Alstadt and the river. Gaining entry to the property was really easy. The host contacted me in advance to ask what time I'd be arriving and was there to greet us. He was very friendly and welcoming.
The property decor was really tired and old and could do with updating. The bedding/towels etc were also very old. One of the bedsheets had a stain on it which the host did point out to me, to say the sheet had been washed and was clean. It was still a bit off putting though and it would surely just have been easier to buy a new sheet. The worst thing though, was that for the entire duration of our stay (2 days/nights) there was some sort of excrement (perhaps from a dog?) in the elevator of the building. I couldn't believe no one cleaned it up the whole time we were there and it was still there on the day we departed. That of course isn't really the fault of the host, but again still off putting. It should be remembered though that this wasn't an expensive property, but with a little more attention to detail, it could've been decent value for money.

This apartment was brilliantly located on the edge of the old town and a 200m walk from the Rhine walk/promenade. Apartment was located in a quiet part of town, so a stay during Karneval season meant we did not hear the noise of any party-goers late at night.
The hosts were great and very communicative via instant messaging. Collection of keys after a late arrival was very straightforward.
Property was very well appointed with a kitchen full of everything you could want during a stay (large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, many utensils, lots of cups/glasses/plates,etc).
Heating and hot water was very easy to operate and apartment remained comfortably warm throughout our stay.
WiFi was fast enough for three persons to all use a mobile device and also stream Netflix on the large Smart TV.
There are many plug points throughout the apartment (all fitted with child locks, which are easily removed) meaning there is no shortage of places to charge tech.
The Apartment block itself felt very safe and the only other resident we met was very friendly. The apartment is located on the third floor but there is an elevator in the block, which meant you didn't have to struggle up stairs with luggage.
My only criticism was that the WiFi range did not reach one of the beds in the twin bedroom.
4.5 / 5.0
The proximity to the square, architecture and the river. The location is excellent. The view from the balcony is spectacular. Nice to have a wine shop close. The art and decor was very nice.
Most outlets were blocked, so it was hard to charge electronics near the bed.
4.0 / 5.0
The internet connection was slow and not always reliable.
Kitchen utensils for cooking were limited.
