The bed was comfy, the room was big,the view was good and the breakfast was excellent
The toilet was too close to the bath and wall and the bath had a glass pain in the way that didn't open properly and what looked like a disabled thing for disabled people in-between the glass pain and the bath slope which was just a nightmare to navigate, so I couldn't shower and going loo was uncomfortable, not much room forgot to to take a photo of the bathroom

A little dated due to the age of the property , room was small but extremely clean
As above also no parking

Tess, who runs The Cumberland is quite simply brilliant, and lovely with it. She kindly upgraded our room and couldn't do enough for us.
So as well as the location, facilities, the breakfast and the bed all being wonderful.... the staff were as well.
Regarding location, the hotel is smack bang in the place you want to be, 30 seconds from the pier and 20 seconds from the beach. Its a beautiful old building, beautifully furnished, but with modern facilities and the most comfortable beds.
OK, no parking... but believe me, my jaguar was safe in the streets nearby, free after 6pm until 9pm. Train station parking is safe and cheap too, so parking isn't really an issue.
We loved our stay, we can unequivocally say we will be back.
Thank you so much Tess.
Nothing.

the location
the terrible smell of old and drainage in the room

Staff was generally very nice, the breakfast and the choice was amazing. It wasn't a buffet, but you got to choose off a menu and the food was delicious. They had vegetarian options, even down to veggie sausages for the english breakfast. The room was really cozy and nice, and everything seemed squeaky clean - the bathroom had nice eco friendly reminders, such as what to do if you wanted your towel washed everyday or not. There was also a fridge available in the room, and tea, coffee and hot chocolate ready for arrival.
When we arrived in the room, we found a bottle of milk and an empty bottle of coca cola inside the fridge. We also weren't briefed well enough about the breakfast procedure, so when we went down the first day we sat at a random table, and someone came over and proceeded to adjust the tables to accommodate us. Aside from the initial confusion we couldn't fault the service.

Stayed for 3 nights in a first floor double with bay window & sea view. We were absolutely delighted on opening the door to our room. First of all, a four poster bed. Never expected that! Then the bay window with magnificent views all the way up to the little Orme one way and to the pier the other. Lovely chairs and table to enhance relaxation whilst enjoying the vista and watching the world go by below.
There were plenty of plug sockets plus mini fridge which was ideal for chilling that bottle of wine. Large TV with all the free view channels. We listened mainly to radio but so many channels to choose from and great reception. Loads of drawer and hanging space which is always a plus. Blinds as well as curtains which did a good job of blocking out the light if like me you are a light sleeper. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits to keep you refreshed. WiFi worked brilliantly too. Spacious shower room with loads of toiletries and shower, although a tad on the small side, was powerful and always plenty of hot water. Towels large & fluffy and the bedding smelled so fresh!
Lovely dressing table with mirror to sit at whilst getting ready and full length mirror on the wall. Seems the owners have thought things out well for their guests comfort. It felt so cosy.
Moving on, breakfast! There are two breakfast rooms on the ground floor both of which offer views of the prom and sea. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the tables were laid beautifully. Great choice inc; cereals to start and I overheard some guests asking for porridge. The hot choices included full English and it was! Everything including fried bread, hash brown, black pudding along with the usual bacon, sausage etc. There was even a choice of tomatoes; fresh or tinned. I plumped for cheese & tomato omelette on the second morning which was delicious! All this along with toast, lashings of tea and coffee and served by the most lovely pleasant staff.
Parking, although we were very fortunate and managed to get a spot on the road outside the hotel. In fairness this is an issue with most hotels in L'dno on the front and is pointed out at the booking stage.
Also, no lift which again is clear at the booking stage.
Pillows a little lumpy.

They need a bar in the hotel that is the only thing that lets this hotel down but apart from that excellent

Breakfast was excellent.
We were right on beach front and view was brilliant,
Everything was nearby for walking like restaurants shops etc
The problem was that we were on 3rd floor and my wife had problem going to top floor.
We managed is all we can say but remember its an old Victorian building with no lifts.
Parking is a big problem if you like day trips to other places.
Its best to park once and don't move it till you leave.

The location could not have been better, with a beautiful sea view from our bedroom window, the promenade right outside the door and all local attractions within easy reach. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful with a very good choice on offer.
Nothing in particular to dislike.
