It felt like staying with old friends!
Although it is located in what seems to be the most rundown suburb of Valenciennes, it is a nicely restored old house with a nice small garden and a very short drive or tram ride to the centre of town.

Cozy atmosphere, very good friendly service. Dinner was very good and the setting is as good as you can get in the area.

A hidden gem. A beautiful guesthouse run by a very friendly owner who really cares about providing a nice experience. The breakfast is exceptional, as was the dinner.

The owner was so kind. All the staff was so helpful. The breakfast was great! The garden was beautiful, and the decor was eclectic and pleasing. There was a cat and a dog and we really felt like part of the family. The owner made a great recommendation for dinner, and we had a nice time at this restaurant.

End of 18th/beginning of 19th century mansion, furbished somewhat eclectically but with a lot of taste. Comfortable rooms and beds, convenient bath room, and ... if you go there, take the dinner option: worth it. Nice park to have a drink in. Very safe parking (walled in). Agreeable and very helpful owner/manager that will advise you on what to do.
Good stop over, but Valenciennes is definitely a place you can afford to avoid. Run-down, much destroyed during WW1, and not very well rebuilt.

beautiful and eclectic design , the host is so welcoming and makes every effort to make feel comfortable . he booked our taxi and recommended a restaurant in town this was an excellent choice . the gardens are relaxing and we where offered coffee out there on our arrival so lovely with the afternoon sun . we will definitely be returning again soon .

It was right beside the tram, the building was very nice. Secure parking.
The host wasn't as friendly as previous reviews seemed to indicate. He was polite, but encounters felt a bit awkward. Like I was a guest in his house sort of and was conscious of his presence. There was no bath, which was annoying as my booking specifically said there was a bath. I searched properties which offered a bath..

The atmosphere of the place is wonderful. The hotel is in a former charming "Maison de maître", a very romantic and calm place. The taste of decoration of the owner is fantastic and could directly come out of a Wes Anderson's movie! It is an amazing place to stay for work but also with your loved one.
The surroundings are not the best of the town.

Large room and bathroom
We were on the top floor and it was a bit of a struggle with our bags on the winding staircase. Also didn't realise we had to pre-book dinner but the host did book a restaurant for us which was a 30 minute walk.

Philippe is a great host! He makes you feel welcome and invited to explore the house and the grounds — and there is a lot to explore! While looking around, you instantly think of a whole bunch of friends and relatives who would LOVE the place and should follow your recommendation. Much rather you would love to take along next time to hang out in the garden.
What a great place and a very nice owner. Wherever you travel to in France coming from Northern Europe make sure you stop here for a night before your journey continues.

Whether young or old as a guest: Pierre is a host you can only wish for, courteous, warm, considerate and caring. And his house is a magical place that you never want to leave.
