About this apartment rental
Eastport is an island community with a rich tradition and a bright future. There is so much to say about our wonderful vacation haven, we'll just share this feedback from former guests with you:
********************
'The Tide Watcher suite at The Commons has been a wonderful haven. The cares and worries of life seem to go out with the tide and to melt into the moonlight on the water. Tension drips from the tips of my fingers and I feel lighter. Watching the boats come and go from the harbor, reading Sarah Graves, and napping all feel so luxurious; slowing the pace to organic rhythms. Your thoughtfulness in preparing this place for your visitors has made me feel cared for in every way.' Mary, November '11

'It's almost like both time and Nature have stood still waiting to be noticed and embraced!' Chris and Ben, April '12
'The combination of the beauty and comfort of Tidewatcher Suite, and the magic of Eastport will make an unforgettable impression on you!' a Maryland family, August '11

Barbara and Dave on their honeymoon, August 2012:
We want you to know what a wonderful time we had in Eastport, especially at The Commons. Dave and I could not wish for a more perfect beginning for our marriage! The rooms were divine; you ladies have thought of everything and done the apartment with panache, to say nothing of our view! Dave saw a whale just out from the deck the morning we left. And thank you too for the whale watching adventure – we have lots of pictures to add to our collection. Everyone we met in Eastport was so friendly and helpful. We intentionally stopped in [another coastal town] on our way to Portland Airport – and we are so glad we chose to spend all week in Eastport with the peaceful, small community flavor. Thank you for all the memories. You have done so much for the beautiful town of Eastport – we tell all our friends about you! We’ll be back!

Judy and Wayne, September 2011:
Have to tell you – we really enjoyed our stay in Tide Watcher. Your well equipped kitchen was greatly appreciated and really put to good use. We certainly had our fill of lobsters and steamers.
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to get to know you all better. You make a great team! I was also glad that we were able to stay for “Paint Eastport Day.” I was really enjoying the challenge of painting outside – then the rain came! Never would have completed those three lil’ paintings without your help. Thank you for allowing me to take over your back deck – and – providing a table too. You saved the day!
We are still salivating over the smoked-salmon-on-a-stick! Have never had anything like them before. Delicious!! So thoughtful of you to remember the “starving artist” and her “instructor” on the back porch.
We look forward to returning to Eastport again next year. Thanks again for everything.

Shirley and Gerry, March 2011:
We returned to The Commons to experience Eastport in yet another season. What better place to experience the transition from winter to spring than from this unique enclave above the sea, with its ever-changing views and spectacular panoramas! The comfort and convenience of The Commons (nothing has been forgotten!) allowed us to spend more time doing the things we enjoy here in Eastport. This idyllic place is not to be missed in any or every season! Thanks again to the Women of The Commons for another wonderful stay! Please continue to offer this idyllic retreat to those lucky enough to discover it!

My husband and married couple friends couldn't have been more pleased.. What an amazing location! The space was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The deck was so amazing that we had difficulty leaving to explore the area. Wonderful shops outside the door, a local brewery, great restaurants, all well within walking distance. Friendly people without exception. We explored Eastport, the area, Campobello, Saint Andrew. The deck provided us privacy, an excellent reading venue, whale sightings, people and dog watching. We wished for a quiet, restful adventure and that is exactly what we got. I cannot say enough about the location of this rental. It is perfect and the owners are readily available for assistance. We plan to return next year. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Old school friends traveling together.
Wonderful quaint town with everything you could ask for right here.
The views are breathtaking. Sound of the foghorns in the distance add to the experience.
Sit on the deck early morning.
If you are an early riser, the tide comes in and you see small sea critters swim along the shore line.
Beautiful comfortable accommodations.
Can’t say enough,
Nancy is a dream.
Thank you for a great experience
Gulls are abundant, and we saw several eagles.

A very clean and very well equipped property located in the center of a small town. All of the people here are very friendly, especially our host Nancy. Nancy was very welcoming and extremely helpful and knowledgeable on local history. She went above and beyond the "host role". Thanks again to Nancy.

I was in Eastport for a little bit of business and a little bit of pleasure and I ended up with a lot of both. While Eastport may be small, it's big on personality. I visited during off-season (first week in May) and shops and other venues were just starting to open. If you want to do whale watching, or visit the museum or do a great deal of shopping, you might want to wait until after Memorial Day to visit. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, with wonderful views, off-season is the best!
The Commons was a great place to stay. My cousin and I were traveling together, so it was nice to have our own rooms and our own bathrooms. Everything was exceptionally clean. WiFi worked great, but cell service can be sketchy. That's true anywhere along the coast. Be aware that occasionally, you can flip into Canadian cell service.
You have a great view of Campobello Island from the deck, as well as the pier. The WaCo Diner (our favorite eating spot) is just a few steps away. Terrific place for breakfast or lunch - they close at 2 most days. They do serve dinner on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. And Horn Run Brewing has great flat bread pizza.
Be aware that you must climb 2 flights of stairs to get to the apartment. A little tough when you're a senior citizen carrying way too much luggage. Most days, not a problem. (My cousin is 73 and she managed, though it was difficult for her.)
I highly recommend The Commons.

This light-filled apartment has everything a traveler could need or want: a well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed and furniture, washer and dryer, spacious bathrooms and a large deck overlooking the bay.
Stores and restaurants are steps away from the unit.
Nancy and her crew, who are downstairs in the store, are always readily available to welcome guests and assist with anything that might arise.

From the first moment, everything was better than first class. Nancy runs her store on the ground floor beneath the property, so she was readily accessible. She stayed over to show us how to get in (although her instructions were clear and concise anyway), and gave us suggestions on things we might want to do in the environs. The property itself is in an absolutely gorgeous location - Windows and the upstairs porch look right out onto and across the border with Canada, including Campobello island with its ferries plying to and fro (which ferries we rode on). Each day we went on explorations in the Maritime area of Maine and Canada, and each day were overwhelmed by the fall foliage and the beauties of tiny harbors, tidal pools, the majesty of the rocky coast, and the innumerable lighthouses. We have never stayed in a nicer Verbo although we have traveled extensively in the US and in Europe typically staying in VRBOs. The apartment itself was gorgeous, the heating system worked great, the bathrooms were large and well equipped and comfortable, the kitchen was easy to use and well-equipped. Thank you, Nancy!

What a beautiful place to stay in Eastport Maine! What an AMAZING view of the bay every day. Was able to enjoy coffee every morning and evening cocktails. Beautiful home, was clean and very charming. Walking distance to stores and restaurants. Enjoyed doing the whale watching.

This is a great 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo in Eastport. The deck feels like it is right over the water. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants and nearby parking. Will stay here again

Our condo was much nicer than the pictures show! Very clean, modern and roomy. Lots of natural light and absolutely the best viewing area for fireworks. We invited several family members over and they've already tried to book the property for next year's Pirate Fest, it is that nice. Location is also perfect as it's right in the middle of everything. Would definitely stay here again!

Great thought was put into furnishing and equipping this lovely apartment. All creature comforts were catered to: very comfortable beds; gorgeous views; a fully equipped kitchen with EVERYTHING; internet; comfortable furnishings and a washer and dryer.

First time using a Home-Away! I was very impressed with this condo, it surpassed our expectations! The owners were onsite and were delightful. Couldn't have been happier!!

We have stayed in both condo's a number of times and keep coming back...the location can't be beat-the sunrise views are spectacular from the waterfront deck!! The deck also looks over a working harbor. It is an easy drive to Calais/St. Stephen to the north or Lubec/Campobello to the south. The units are very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Having a washer/dryer allows us to pack light. A full kitchen is very handy and supplies can be easily purchased at the local IGA. Next door, the diner serves a tasty breakfast. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with-they are in the lovely shop on the ground floor during the day. We look forward to returning in the Fall!!

The Tide Watcher condo was a terrific home base for our 3-week summer stay in Eastport. From our deck overlooking the harbor, we saw seals and bald eagles, and watched the lobster and fishing vessels go about their daily business.
The condo is in the heart of Eastport's downtown historic district and we were just steps from the shops, ferry and breakwater. Fresh seafood chowder, lobster and caesar salads were wonderful and a steady diet for us -- also within walking distance from the condo.
Day trips to Canada were easy and an added benefit to staying in Eastport. By car, or via the Eastport/Lubec ferry, a trip to Campobello Island and FDR's summer residence was a breeze -- we visited twice . At Campobello, we also hiked out to the Head Harbor lighthouse -- spectacular view and wonderful spot to whale watch (highly recommend).
Moose Island (Eastport) is very walkable and one of the best ways to get to know and appreciate this quaint, tranquil fishing village and residents. Eastport doesn't have outlet malls and theme parks (partly why we chose it). Eastport has a thriving arts community, some of the best seafood you'll find anywhere, fresh, cool air, a working fishing harbor and a casual, tranquil environment that's hard to find these days.
The ladies of The Commons (Tide Watcher) didn't miss any detail in making this upscale condo comfortable and were a wealth of information as we explored the island and surrounding areas.
Tide Watcher far exceeded any of our previous rentals in other parts of the country -- it was wonderful and we'll return!

We are a seniors couple from Alabama who are nearing the end of a month's stay at Tide Watcher. We picked this location never having been to Maine! The condo is much more spacious than we expected and is comfortable and well-appointed in every way. We have not lacked for anything. The location in the middle of Eastport has been perfect with a 180 degree view of the bay. The sunrise over Campobello Island is spectacular! The town is walkable with sidewalks everywhere, and even the supermarket is nearby. The 5 restaurants provide every level of cuisine all hours desired. Our hosts, "the Women of the Commons", made us aware of the many cultural activities during our stay, and were available if we needed anything. Even the residents, including those who referred to themselves as "From Away", have made us feel right at home. We will look forward to returning soon.

My husband and I absolutely LOVED the Tide Watcher condo! We have rented many places through VRBO, and this is one of our very favorite properties! The location could not be more perfect. From one end of the condo, you are looking out at the historic Main Street with nice shops and restaurants. From the other end, you have a gorgeous view of the Bay, lobster boats, and all of the activity that goes along with an active, fishing town. It is fascinating to watch. The whale watching trip leaves practically at your doorstep. It can't be anymore convenient than that! Eastport is easily walkable, and we enjoyed good seafood in three of the local restaurants. The condo itself is immaculate, comfortable, well-equipped, and very roomy with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Downstairs is a lovely shop run by the friendly, helpful women who own the condo. We highly recommend the Tide Watcher, and hope to go back someday!

Fantastic sunrise/sunset views, walk to great dining, neat shops, quiet......simply outstanding. Almost hate to tell others of this gem for fear we will not be able to get another booking. The folks who rent this place are great, ever so helpful. This is the real Maine, with whales, great seafood, little shops and galleries, but not the tourist type tacky places in the overly commercial areas of Maine. I have traveled the world and this property is truly outstanding..........
