A little touch of bush paradise in comfortable cabins 😀

The most amazing cabins that we have stayed and surrounded by beautiful native bush. This was a great clean and tidy place to stay and our cabin had a nice garden outside. so relaxing and a shame we could not have stayed longer. Very friendly owners.

Don't go here!

Not what we expected at all, quaint interior as pictured but no care and basics not attended to.

Yotal misrepresentation - the outside toilet and shower, the 12 minute running of the shower for hot water to come through, no milk available for tea or coffee (told we had to drive to the shop down the road, no top sheet on the double bed (only a duvet), extra blanket musty and stained, outdoor plastic chairs wet and stained with mould, picnic table in managers roped off property, no BBQ area evident at all, shocking 'roll together' mattress, stained teacups, no shower soap or body wash ...shameful irrespective of price.

A very nice reminiscent stay ,,, we first stayed here 20+ years ago.

We cooked our own breakfast ... we didn’t see a single owner/administrator while we were there ... very casual and comfortable arrangement.

Nice layout, quiet, garden

Asked specifically for non feather bedding. Was told the double bed was non feather. It was not. Although I piled it on the floor away from me, awoke in the night with an asthma attack. Had to put both duvets outside. Will not be recommending. Staff non contactable for entire stay.

Was not aware that there was an separate toilet and shower that required you to go outside - suits some but not us. Had two visitors for an hour and was requested that they either leave or we pay a high surcharge for them to stay. There was no discussion around the time they we’re staying, poor customer service. Would suggest a brochure is drawn up so you know the property policy and not put in an awkward situation.

it was close to Wharariki beach, the owner was super friendly.. it had a a quaint little cottage feel about it.

It was overpriced for what it was particularly when there was no hot water. I would suggest letting visitors know that they can get supplies for their stay in Takaka.

Cute chalet and I slept well.

I liked the style of the room with exposed timber. French doors etc.

The handbasin in the bathroom is very small and is inset into the wall. This makes it difficult to use without splashing water on the floor.

Quirky character place close to lots of cool places to explore in Golden Bay.

Lovely warm fire and cozy atmosphere. Close to lots of great places to explore. Good place for a family or group of friends to stay in.

Bathroom had cold floor tiles and the shower curtain kept blowing into the cubicle.

An absolute gem in this corner of the island!

The cosiness of the home. A group of us were there midwinter and had the fire going! An amazing night in a spotlessly clean place. Very, well thought off and had everything you needed. Sophie is one the loveliest people to deal with, extremely understanding and kind.

Exceptional

Ruru Cottage is an excellent setup for families. Our kids loved climbing up ladders into their own space in the attic, the outdoor baths and playing in the stream. The hosts are very helpful too, with local's tips and suggestion of an adventure up the dense bush just behind the cottage. It is a place of character we will fondly remember.

When we arrived no one was around and a number to ring was difficult with limited cell coverage,when we did get in there was no hot water available for a shower,which was very disappointing
