About this house rental
This 1970's elevated, retro holiday home is a wonderful mix of homely accommodation and stunning water views from the living areas, kitchen and bedrooms. Two sides of the house have floor-to-ceiling windows so the changes in the weather make visitors feel part of nature. At night, the lights of the wharf and the town of Portland shine in the windows and the quiet street makes you feel relaxed when you wake up to a sunrise over Portland Bay.
It is great to cook in this functional kitchen with good bench space flowing into an open living area. The view here extends to Cape Bridgewater 25 km away. The 2 bedrooms have great water views and queen-sized beds for a total of 4 guests .
At the end of the street, just 6 houses down, there is a picturesque 200 step walkway leading down to the beach for lovers of fishing, swimming, ocean strolls and a dog-friendly beach.
Downstairs, there is a gas BBQ, gas heater and table setting, with a second toilet, and adjacent is the separate garage in the rear yard set up with a pool table, table tennis and a pot belly heater.
The wide driveway can hold up to 4 vehicles or boats, and there is an additional parking space out front, so there is no need to move the Kingswood to get the Ford out. This street location ensures very little traffic so manoeuvring boats out is an easy task. The boat ramp is a leisurely 5-minute drive. as is the Main Street in town.
The rear yard is fenced and gated, and suitable for children and dogs alike.

Great location with sea views, vintage character, natural light, and clear instructions. Enjoyable stay with cozy retro design, lockbox entry, and comfy beds. Excellent ocean views through clean windows.

Comfortable stay
Very good location for quietness & sea views.
4-5 kms from town centre. 2 storeys with about 8 steps that are quite steep. The house has a lot of vintage character, lots of natural light & a good sense of space. However, some parts, although clean, still look a bit shabby. Instructions for entry & any other information were clear & accurate. We enjoyed our 2 night stay mid-March.

Great position with some good veiws
Shame about the big house a couple of doors down that blocked the best of the sunrise. But waking in the morning and watching the sea and sky change colour made up for it….almost. The house passed with what we needed in a house for a few days by the beach. It’s not glamorous but there is a tired charm.

Nice place, at home feeling.
It’s a nice holiday home, with the ocean view. I would recommend to my friends and will definitely plan to go again.
Denis, the landlord is awesome and is just a call away, if anything. The property well maintained.

Retro style, shabby
House described as retro, which is in keeping with the style, however, the house was in a state of disrepair and not clean. The first thing you noticed upon opening the front door, was an overpowering, mouldy, manky odour.
The bedrooms had reasonable bedding but the pillows did not all have internal covers and the pillows were yellow and stained. The spare blankets smelled revolting and could not be used, but were hung outside to air, and remove their odour from the house. Piles of dust under beds and even discarded ear plugs, from previous guests, on bedroom floor.
Carpet throughout the house was worn and in many places, completely threadbare. Cracked tiles in bathroom, which was damp with no exhaust fan. Entry steps were not entirely secure.
Kitchen was well equipped but nothing could remove the horror of discovering crockery, with a layer of mould.
Lovely view over rooftops, of ocean. Beautiful walk to rock, rubble wall, along a busy road, blocking access to beach. Fibreglass seals in gas heater in lounge room, were hanging uselessly inside heater, making it, in my opinion, unsafe to use.
Games room described in property description was a shed with a leaky roof, burnt out, rusted, unusable pot belly stove.
This house was in a reasonable location with plenty of potential, however, it appears, that there is no accountability or checks on quality. The house commanded a high price, way above the quality of the accommodation.
I have many photos to support my claims, unfortunately there is no capacity for them to be uploaded in this review. As a result of this unpleasant experience, I would be reluctant to book, through Stayz, in future.

Fantastic house with a picturesque view
The house literally has everything that we need! We can enjoy the sea view from almost every room in the house, absolutely beautiful! My son didn’t even want to leave the beautiful house!
The beddings are so comfortable as well.
Special thank you to Denis and Helen. We left one of our bags behind. Denis rang us straight away and offered to post the bag back to us with no extra cost. We really appreciated it! :)

Comfortable retro stay
We had a nice stay over the Christmas break. Beautiful views, and very cool retro furniture gives the place a bit of character. Bathroom and garage with table tennis needs updating, & the hot water would run out by night, which we were warned about, but overall, a very pleasant stay. Thanks Dennis

Rare Find: Ocean views, large boat access, pet friendly, well equipped, very clean and comfortable
It is not easy these days to find a holiday home which provides for a large trailer boat and pets.
We found this great quiet house in Portland which suited our needs perfectly.
We had great views of Portland Bay and the Harbour from the lounge, dining and bedrooms.
The house was very clean and comfortable making any length of stay that much more enjoyable. The kitchen was fully equipped including dishwasher and basic grocery items. Additional towels and blankets were provided. A seperate laundry with washing machine came in handy.
The back yard was secure and accessible. The driveway was wide and long allowing for one or more large trailer boats to be parked off street easily and securely.
Highly recommend.
