About this house rental
Aloha and welcome to your peaceful place of eden and the answer to a relaxing visit on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are located on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii and close to Ho'okeena Beach, Pu-uhonua o Honaunau (aka Place of Refuge) and the world famous Two Step at Honaunau Bay. Two step is voted one of the top snorkeling locations on the Big Island of Hawaii where you can enjoy an early morning swim with spinner dolphins and float around in the blissful blue bay with the turtles, coral and fish. We are also close to the famous Painted Church, Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook Monument) and we are near the Volcano National Park which is 70 miles to the south with spectacular views and hiking. At the bottom of our quiet little subdivision is a private community, small black pebble beach that offers hiking trail access, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and diving access.
Our newly purchased home in the Kona Paradise Subdivision is a single story ocean inspired home that boasts an almost 180 degrees of unobstructed breathtaking views of the ocean. It also is very spacious with an open floor plan with tile floors throughout. That's right, no carpet! You will have exclusive use of the 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, 2 car garage home with brand new laundry facilities on site. We also have mangos, starfruit, pineapples, oranges, coconuts and beautiful plumeria trees on the property!
The expansive covered wrap-around lanai is the perfect place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze, sip a delicious cup of 100% Kona coffee from one of the many close by coffee plantations, check your email or eat a delicious mango after awaking to the birds chirping and the beautiful hillside beckoning a morning hike. This is paradise!
The spacious master bedroom has its own direct access to the carport and back of the property, a plush queen size bed, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. The second guest bedroom features direct access through a sliding door to the wrap-around lanai a plush queen size bed and shares a full bathroom with the third bedroom, containing one single twin bed.
The two larger bedrooms and the living room all have ceiling fans. The house is not air-conditioned; however, there are plenty of screened windows, two sliding doors onto the lanai, and plenty of ocean and mountain breezes. The expansive covered wrap-around lanai (over 500 square feet) is easily accessed off of all of the bedrooms in the house. You will find fantastic views and an enjoyable stone-topped dining table on the lanai and chairs to enjoy quiet mornings or sunset dinners.
The kitchen has brand new appliances and is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, blender, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and baking pans. The carport has 3 boogie boards, snorkel gear, Tommy Bahama beach chairs and a large sun umbrella.
We are located 25 miles south of Kona and 32 miles south of the airport, off of Highway 11. It is a beautiful, lush and scenic drive past quaint towns and coffee farms. The property is set on ancient lava flows, overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean, the King's Trail for hiking, an ancient volcanic cinder cone, a private pebble beach, and some of the best snorkeling/diving on the Kona coast (NO Sand). The water is so perfect for diving and snorkeling, that the infamous Aggressor dive boat anchors off our community's coastline daily.

Our stay at this incredible vacation home in Captain Cook, HI, was nothing short of perfection! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views and the serene ambiance of this Hawaiian paradise.
The home itself is beautifully maintained and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms, and modern kitchen made us feel right at home. We especially loved spending our mornings on the deck, sipping coffee while soaking in the stunning ocean views.
One of the highlights of this home is its location away from the traditional tourist areas. It provided us with a peaceful and authentic Hawaiian experience, free from the hustle and bustle. The location is perfect for exploring the Big Island. We enjoyed snorkeling at nearby Kealakekua Bay, visiting local coffee shops, and taking scenic drives along the coast. The peaceful surroundings and lush tropical landscape made it a perfect retreat after a day of adventure.
Our hosts were incredibly responsive and provided us with excellent recommendations for local dining and activities. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable.
We highly recommend this vacation home to anyone looking for a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure in Hawaii. We can't wait to come back and create more wonderful memories in this slice of paradise!

We stayed a week in early Fed 2024. The location was spot on and the view to die for. The best thing about this place hands down was the patio!! The view was so great.
We had a screen door problem and that was taken care of quickly.
Water was no issue at all. You just had to conserve a bit that you might not be use to at your house.
Many people complained about the drive. It was a bit curvy but you get use to it. And the place to the main road was only one minute.
We loved the drive to the bottom and the access to the ocean from there.
Location was ok the drive to places (resturants, store ect )was 10 minutes away. Many of places to go to in this time frame. And add another 15 min and you have everything you need.
You are in the middle ot Kona Coffee belt!!!

This was our first house in Hawaii so we were not experienced about the island. The booking process and communication with owners was very good. The house served as our base because we were gone everyday. The only real negative of the house was the furniture in the living room. Very old and uncomfortable pieces. They need to be replaced.
There was alot of driving for anything we wanted to do, we were not aware the winding road distance to any destination. Its about one hour from the airport to the house. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house with the understanding about all the driving involved.

My family and I had the most wonderful stay here! We had kids age 6-16. The house has everything we could need supply wise. Blankets, kitchen supplies, beach toys... It was perfect. There is a wonderful beach at the bottom of the road. The neighbors you meet on the beach are so friendly and have wonderful suggestions to different beaches and places to visit. We were told of a beach where we could possibly see turtles, and we did!!! The road is intimidating at first, but it gets easier! My 11 year old and I walked down the hill the first morning and had a morning swim. Boy did we feel the burn the next day!! The hosts were very accommodating and great at communication. The neighbors are wonderful and have fresh caught Ono on a regular basis to buy and cook up for a feast to enjoy out on the beautiful back deck. There are frogs (I believe) that sing into the night, lovely little geckos that scamper all about the property, and there was even a mother bird with brand new babies up in one of the candle holders out on the deck. It is truly a magical place!!!!

Stay in Kona Paradise
This house had stunning views, three spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and was well appointed. The only problem we had was that the address listed on the informational check-in email was not complete. The address actually had two more numbers and a dash in front of the address given. The address did not show up at all on mapquest and we were lucky we found it.

Disappointed with the accommodations overall
The overall condition of the property was marginal. The living room furniture was in college frat house shape. Most frustrating was that we were required to take our garbage off site we found out once we got there. The transfer site was a distance away the day we left and we didn’t have room in the car for it. There had been stinking garbage in the garage all the days we were there that was not ours. After we left the owner charged us for garbage removal.
Appliances were dirty and needed to be cleaned before use. Would not recommend this rental

Spacious House With Ocean Views
We were a family of 5 adults. The two large bedrooms and one single-bed room were perfect for us. The living room, kitchen, and two large bedrooms were very spacious and roomy. The covered lanai was huge and a perfect place to sit out for meals. The kitchen was set up well for cooking for a group. The subdivision slopes down a killer hill to a black pebble beach. The fitness addicts in the family hiked down and then up it every day, but it is not for the faint of heart since it is about 1000 ft of elevation in a mile. There are also some hikes at the bottom that run along the cliffs the overlook the ocean. The beds were firm and comfortable. There is good snorkeling and boogie boarding at Ho’okena beach only 20 minutes away. The house is well set up with boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs and umbrellas.. We were there for two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer!

Large home in a quiet neighborhood
The house was very spacious, perfect for a family vacation and was close to various locations on the island to explore. It was an easy drive to the beach for snorkeling and playing in the ocean. Having access to the beach equipment was a bonus.

Perfect property for family travel
Our family with two young kids (5 &1) spent a week on the Big Island and this property was a perfect basecamp for adventure. We were able to explore all over the island from the south point (go to Green Sands beach!) to Volcano Park and Hilo to the east as well as up north to Kailua-Kona, Hawi (go to Sushi Rock for the Harvest Roll) and Waimea to the north. The location was perfect for us. The house itself is very accurately described. Clean, open plan with room to move around inside and on the lanai. The view will truly take your breath away. We spent many nights dining outside and enjoying the sunset from the lanai or down the hill to Pebble Beach (just a 3 minute drive) at the bottom of the sub-division. Would 100% recommend to friends that travel to the Big Island. There are a few small local restaruants, cafes and fruit stands within 10-20 minute drive and pretty much anything retail, grocery, dining you could want within 30 minutes. It would be perfect for a small family (we were 2 adults and 2 kids) or 2 couples (4 adults).
Mahalo from Minnesota!

Fantastic home with a lovely view. Easy drive to activities.
This is a clean lovely home with an amazing view of the ocean. It was an easy drive to great snorkeling and beach play. There is a great fruit stand just down the road and groceries in Captain Cook. We had a fabulous time here.

My wife and I stayed here 2 weeks with our infant daughter and another couple and their teenage daughter. We enjoyed the spacious house and great view from the porch. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood, and is nicely furnished. Parking two cars in the back is easy, which is important, because you need to drive every time you leave the house. There is literally nothing within walking distance. Steep driveway looks scary at first, but is a cinch to drive once you get used to it (we drove a Suburban). What we did not like was that there were quite a few ant traps in the house, which our daughter (11 mos) wanted to play with!

Great house!
Darren and Jenn have a wonderful house! The house is very comfortable and the view amazing. As with any vacation, there were a couple of issues, but Darren and Jenn were very attentive and got everything corrected, which was excellent.
It is a very quiet neighborhood - and about a 40 min. drive south of Kona, but there are several beaches nearby to keep you entertained. The house comes with plenty of beach toys, chairs and umbrella's which was nice.
The house does have a long-term renter on the ground floor ohana - which is totally separated from the main house. He's a great guy and will even share fresh fruit on the railing!
Darren and Jeff - thanks for sharing your great house and working so hard to make my vacation enjoyable.

My wife and I had a very sweet stay here. While it was more bedrooms than we needed we didn’t feel like the house was too big. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful covered lanai with large comfortable chairs and big table. There are two almost new hammocks there as well as a great grill. Most of the items in the house and the kitchen are new or in good condition. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and we were happy to find a few basics like mustard, mayo, rice, salt and pepper. The knives were sharp, the dishes were plentiful and the dishwasher worked great. When we first arrived it was hot and stuffy at about 80 degrees. Once we opened all the doors and windows with screens and turned in all of the ceiling fans it was very nice. The bed was ok. The shower had a beautiful view. The sofa was pretty comfortable and sitting in the big open space with a distant ocean view was charming. We had a very relaxing time here and would happily return. There is a wheelchair symbol on this property. While it wouldn’t be suitable for someone who is confined to a wheelchair (one step and a lip going into the house, regular tub with shower without handrails and regular toilet (not extra spacious with handrails) it is excellent for folks who cannot climb stairs and want something easy to move around in. For us the location was ideal. We wanted to go to South Kona Fruit Stand and Place of Refuge multiple times and both very within 10 minutes. We did not want to be in the touristy areas so this worked out. We did go to Downtown Kona, Kealakakua Bay and other places that were very easy to get to.

Wonderful place to relax!
This vacation home is as advertised. Spacious and clean with wonderful views of the ocean. As others have mentioned, if you want to be where everything is near by, this is not the place for you. However, if you want peace and quiet, this gem is a perfect place to settle in and unwind. Beaches and hiking are nearby. Remember you are in the tropics, so shake out your shoes before putting them on so you don't get a surprise! The kitchen is fully equipped and the lanai is a wonderful place to dine. After driving the whole island, my husband and I were so glad we found this vacation home away from all the hustle and bustle.

Clean, fresh and well located!
Great Place! Loved its clean open floor plan. Would like a king bed in master and more pillows. Also needs bottle and wine opener! Apparently owners are not drinkers! Haha! But all in all a great place!!

The covered porch with a wide ocean view and a lovely breeze was amazing
The house is lovely and spacious. The covered porch with a wide view of the ocean and a lovely breeze was amazing. The house was clean and neat with plenty of room for my husband, 2 adult kids and I. Three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms gave us all room.. The hill to the beach is steep but a short drive down, be careful of the currents. King Kamehameha’s trail is on each side of the beach and a nice walk . Remember to bring plenty of water, better to go early or later in the day to avoid the heat. Two step beach is nearby and had the best snorkeling of the trip although not a great sand beach. The house is not near town. It is 13 miles to the choice mart. If you are looking for restaurants and nightlife this may not be the place for you.
We really enjoyed are stay and would recommend the house for your vacation
