We were happy to find fresh bread, eggs, and bacon for our breakfast. Also a nice selection of tea and plunger coffee, and a bowl of plums. Breakfast on the verandah with a beautiful view was a real treat!
We enjoyed everything about our stay. No complaints.

Awesome unexpected supplied artisan breakfast surprised us on arrival. Lovely private cottage surrounded by native birds, olive trees, roaming turkeys & quails! Lovely deck to sit out on & admire not only the quiet of the location but the views to Te Mata peak.

Quiet and well equiped for two people. Close drive to cellar door destinations and restaurants. Old world character charm and history.

The lovely home made bread and preserves, fresh eggs, bacon and fruit was such a lovely welcome. We loved the warm, rustic cottage. The location was simply amazing.
The shower was a little hard to use without getting the bathroom floor wet.

Awesome scenic location in a beautiful old cottage. Amazing! Hosts are very thoughtful with what they've provided, including delicious fresh bread and other goodies for breakfast, too. You won't regret staying here. Top tip - duck down to the Red Bridge coffee cart (2 min drive) in the morning for some of the best coffee in Hawkes Bay!

The owners were great. Very communicative and helpful.
The cottage was lovely. Very charming and in such beautiful location. This was close enough to not have to drive to far to places we wanted to visit but also nice and secluded in the country.

Chose this place because of the description of being peaceful, quiet and rural while being within easy reach of the vineyards, Te Mata Peak and other tourist attractions around Havelock North. Also it sounded quirky which we prefer to the modern motel experience or expensive hotel/guesthouse options of the vineyards. It was definitely all of the above but more rustic than expected, a very old farm cottage complete with squeaky floorboards and no key required for access as they don't lock anything in those parts apparently! However, it had been lovingly restored, in a very secluded setting and had a certain "cabin in the woods" romantic charm. The very comfy Queen bed (in separate room), with good choice of pillows is positioned so that you wake up to the gorgeous view of bush(plenty of tui in there!) with the the south side of Te Mata Peak towering above. The modern bathroom was a nice surprise -shower (excellent pressure) as was the larger than expected TV complete with Sky channels & DVD which you can watch from the comfy leather sofa. Kitchen is an old wooden affair, imagine old country farmhouse style, but well-provisioned. It was such a nice touch that the hosts (who live on the property nearby, but completely out of sight) had provided fresh home-baked bread, eggs, bacon and homemade jam and marmalade in the fridge, muesli, milk and a bowl of fresh fruit. They were so friendly to chat with and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to those looking for a taste of old country NZ life but with town only 12 mins drive away. Thanks for your hospitality and great local knowledge - lovely bridle walk along Tukituki river nearby.
The fire-heated outside bath was not available due to a fire ban at present but it's a bit rusty and tired looking so don't choose this property for that) Also if you're averse to squeaky wooden floor boards, old wooden things, possums (or something on the roof first night) or not being lockable, this is not the place for you.

Quiet, superb outlook and oodles of character. Excellent host - perfect two day retreat.
