About this house rental
Enjoy an amazing sense of privacy in this spacious home located just a few yards off the Muskegon River and just moments away from everything. One of only two homes located on a boat launch off the causeway between Muskegon and North Muskegon, you can quickly access 4 bodies of water via watercraft with the private dock or vehicle - the Muskegon River, Muskegon Lake, Bear Lake and Lake Michigan. Hunting and fishing abound. This is the first area to offer access to open water in the spring as the Muskegon River rarely freezes over. Wildlife frequent the area and we often see Blue Herons fly by, the occasional eagle and fox as well! The seawall running along the home is a favorite sunning spot for turtles, and dear enjoy nibbling on the hostas if they can! All this is just moments from major area highways.
The spacious second story living area includes a large comfortable sectional and gas fireplace in a great, open living room. The recently remodeled eat in kitchen and dining room, with access to the second story deck for al fresco dining, offers the unique ability to see both beautiful sunrises over the Muskegon River flats or gorgeous sunsets over Muskegon Lake. Two spacious bedrooms, a full laundry and large bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub complete the level.
The downstairs includes an attached garage with a large open rec room with tv viewing and gaming areas along with a bar and separate fridge. There are sliders to the backyard with fire-pit and deck just a few feet from the river. A pellet stove keeps it warm and cozy in the winter.
The Bike Trail located across the street offers a beautiful trail running along the water and through downtown all the way to the sugar sand of Pere Marquette Beach. The River House is located 8 Miles from Pere Marquette, 6 Miles from North Muskegon State Park, 5.5 Miles from the historic North Muskegon Blockhouse, 6 Miles from Michigan’s Adventure Amusement Park and 7.5 Miles from the Winter Sports Complex which offers lighted skating and cross-country ski trails as well as a full-scale luge! Visit the Historic LST Landing ship in downtown Muskegon, Tour the Hackley House, an immaculately restored Lumber Baron's home, or check out an actual World War II Submarine and maritime museum, the Silversides, located on the channel separating Muskegon Lake from Lake Michigan. While you are there you might catch a glimpse of a 1000-foot freighter passing through. There are multiple festivals to attend, including the wildly popular Muskegon Bike Time, Irish Music Festival, and the family friendly Unity Christian Music Festival to name a few. You even have several museums to explore. A Miniature Golf Course and GoKart facility which also rents Kayaks is within walking distance. Downtown Muskegon is home to three craft breweries - Pigeon Hill, Unruly Brewing Company and the newly added Rake Beer Project in addition to numerous bars and restaurants.

My groomsman and I stayed here the night before my wedding. It was a great location right on the river and the house was great.

This was our second stay at this location. Once again it was great and as advertised.

This house is fantastic, the location is super close to town but away from others. You can still hear the traffic, but if you look up river, all you see is a stunning wetland river ecosystem and a sweet old railroad bridge. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck over the river, saw a pair of mallards, swans, Canada geese, a turtle and a water snake in just a short time frame. The house was comfortable, and meet our needs.

We had such a great time with our three little girls plus our puppy. We spent as much time as the weather would permit on the boat and fished to our families content. Gregg and Tracy were very helpful and sweet. We would definitely recommend staying here.

This place is perfect. The house is clean, has all the amenities you would expect, plus a couple extras. (There’s laundry detergent! All the moms rejoice lol). The living room furniture is comfy, the kids room is perfect for even up for four kiddos, the basement even has a nice lounge area.
You walk out the back and can fish out of the river. My son caught his first big fish! The boat launch is nice and there’s plenty of space to park.
If you’re looking for stuff to do, there is plenty within a couple minute drive. The beach was particularly nice when we went.
If you’re looking for a getaway spot, this is your place. Can’t wait to do it all again next year :-)

We enjoyed our stay very much! Very clean and comfortable. Excellent location for launching kayaks. You can spend hours going down the river or into Muskegon Lake or make a loop. Very close to Lake Michigan beaches. Greg and Tracy were both very helpful and responsive. I recommend this property!

Excellent stay. Clean, just as advertised.

We enjoyed our stay! I was nervous when I got there as the house was covered in spiders and spiderwebs. I suppose it is on the river but I hate spiders! When I got inside it was very nice and spacious! The only real complaint is the lawn was very long for yard games and there was some piles of dog poop. We would stay again.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. We caught some fish and enjoyed the campfire pit and did a lot of sight seeing. Highly recommend this property.

This has been my favorite VRBO I’ve ever stayed at! It was extremely beautiful inside and out. It has a sense of privacy but we still weren’t far away from much. We rented a pontoon boat on Lake Muskegon while we were there and it was an amazing experience. The house extra clean as well! I definitely plan on staying here with my family again in the future!

We had a Christmas in July family gathering with our adult kids and their families. We brought our kayak which was very convenient to put into the water as the dock is right there. We went swimming in Hoffmaster State park and took the dogs swimming at Pere Marquette. Fishing was fun as well as birdwatching on the kayak. Sad they allow noisy skidoos on that river but it worked out. The house is nicely situated and we had a nice Christmas BBQ dinner!

The River House
Our stay at the River House was fantastic. It was perfect for my group, had a ton of space, every amenity we needed and is a beautiful home on a very scenic property. I absolutely will be renting the River House again on our annual trip to the Muskegon area.
On top of that Tracy was the perfect host. She was very communicative and friendly, and she responded promptly to all of my queries.
Definitely my best rental experience in all of my years coming to Muskegon!
