This was the most amazing hotel I have stayed in , beautiful setting and very calming , we swam in the river , the piling pool at our room was amazing as was the steam room. The food was great and the staff couldn’t do enough for you . I highly recommend this hotel if you fancy a bit of luxury.
Make sure you take them up on the lift up in their four wheel drive we went up in a normal taxi and it was quite scary but they transported to our next location and was a great ride.
3.5
Unique location in the middle of nature, few steps from a river stream, which you can hear all the time. You can take day trips to two close waterfalls.
Huge and comfy isolated room.
Very nicely designed but poorly maintained, with not enough attention to the small details.
The road to the location is very bad and relatively long. You can make it with a private car very slowly and carefully, but if you arrive after dark you better ask the hotel staff to peek you from the main road (although their vehicle is unpleasent to ride).
Woke up for million ants in the room. If you afraid of bugs, this is not the place for you in the middle of nature.
In my opinion doesn't worth the cost per value.

Staff and jungle and waterfall and scenery.
The room was full of bugs, insects, flys and at night a mouse got into our room.
The staff manager said insects and flys wouldn't be available if it was raining.

We stayed at Palmstone for 2 nights. They're not kidding when they say it's off the beaten track. After 6km of winding, narrow hill roads you arrive at the lobby block which houses reception, the restaurant, some informal seating and looks over the pool and beyond that, the jungle.
Once checked in, you're escorted to your room. They are incredibly spacious, almost too spacious. The floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall windows have views out on to the jungle and nearby river. You're in the middle of nowhere so they've made efforts to entertain people with a large TV, lots of channels and films to choose from, We turned all that off, as the natural setting and quiet was what we were looking forward to.
We arrived early afternoon and Lakmal, one of the staff, led us on a walk up to the nearby waterfall, where we swam in the rock pool. Back in time for BYO sundowners (there's no alcohol sold but they are happy for you to bring your own). Dinner was good. Nothing fancy but plenty of choice and tasty. The breakfasts were delicious (Sri Lankan or western).
Palmstone organised a white water rafting trip for us in the morning which our driver took us to about half hour away - most of that is getting back along the 6km that has to be traversed each time you go in or out. Rafting was great and then after returning to Palmstone for lunch we went out for another nature walk/climb/swim with Lakmal. The private plunge pool attached to our room, took about 2 hours to heat up so they had that ready for us when we returned. Perfect.
Probably the most distinctive and unusual place I've ever stayed.
