Montebello is a splendid family villa on the shores of the beautiful Laguna del Sauce a few kilometers from the Solanas white sand beach and dunes and less than 20mn drive from the world famous Punta del Este resort town. Its unique style combines French provencal architectural charm with Uruguayan tradition. It is surrounded by a 12 acres landscaped park including a heated swimming pool, private Laguna beach access with an overwater deck. Pool and park night lightings make for extended outdoor evenings of enjoyment in the Uruguayan culture. The outdoor parilla area (BBQ) under a naturally shaded Pergola will be the center of your family reunions to enjoy the expertly prepared assados by Alejandro, our parillero.

At Montebello, ever changing views and sounds of the beautiful surrounding nature with omnipresence of water from the pool, the laguna and the ocean will enchant yours senses and make for a very relaxing retreat.

With 7 bedrooms including 3 master-bedrooms with adjoining full bathrooms and 6 bathrooms overall, the house is made to welcome large families or groups of families and friends alike. Daily maid service, table waiting, housekeeping, park landscaping, pool service ensure you are taken care of and can enjoy your time at Montebello.

Nearby, you will have a choice of campo, beach and sports activities. The backcountry of Montebello offers the vast virgin territories of Uruguay for horseback riding with local gauchos or simply relaxing walks and hikes. The Pataya farm is a nearby farm where the traditional Dulce de Leche is fabricated and where children can enjoy live animals watching. Water is never far and a few kilometers from Montebello and its laguna, you will find the Solanas white sand beach, stretching for over 15km from the gorgeous Punta Ballena. At Punta Ballena, you will find the Casa Pueblo where famous Uruguayan architect Carlos Paez Vilaro created a stunning house on the edge of the cliffs. Finally, about 3km away on the shores of the Laguna, you will find the Club del Lago, a luxury resort with swimming pools, bar and restaurant, and several clay tennis courts with night lighting and a gorgeous golf course.

20km from Montebello, you will find the world famous summer resort Punta del Este. Punta marks the frontier of the Rio de la Plata with the Atlantic coast. The harbor offers great views of the bay and regular ferry service to the nearby Isla Ghoritti. Outstanding property in a magical location. We have only great things to say about our time at Montebello. Romain (property owner) and the Caseros are attentive, caring, and responsive. They all went the extra mile to mate our stay smooth and enjoyable without ever disrupting our privacy. Top notch.

Wonderful place for a family reunion. The house is spacious. The kitchen is large and made for great group cooking sessions. The dock provided great fun for the kids and adults to explore and to fish. The pool was an added benefit for the lazy days. The pergola- parilla area was a true Uruguayan experience. Lots of options for children to be outdoors with the trampoline, the tree house and swings. The big added benefit was the sense of security around the property. Truly felt like your own private park. Overall a great experience in a rustic place. Magda and Alejandro were wonderful and welcoming.. ❤️

A great experience!

My family and friends spent 6 lovely days in Montebello. We had a wonderful time enjoying every part of it. The property is unique, perfect for large groups with a well-equiped and comfortable villa. The massive yard with many outdoor activities is a great attraction for kids. The pool’s deck lake view is breathtaking. The caseros, Magdalena and Alejandro, were friendly and very helpful. We are looking forward to spending some more relaxing time at this paradise.

Por segundo año consecutivo hemos elegido Montebello para vacacionar el lugar es maravilloso y lo mejor además del lugar que es 1000 puntos son los caseros Alejandro y Magdalena que hacen que tu estancia sea perfecta, amables, serviciales y generosos. Su dueño también súper amable contesta y está pendiente de los mails y mensajes. Recomiendo 100% parece que estás en una villa Toscana es DI VI NO!!!!!

Beautiful home, relaxing atmosphere!

Our family spent 2 wonderful weeks at Montebello. The home is lovely, with enough bedrooms that everyone had their own space and common areas that are comfortable for all. We celebrated 2 holidays and 2 birthdays during our visit and the house provided an excellent space to welcome and entertain guests. The caseros, Magadalena and Alejandro were helpful and informative and went above and beyond for whatever we needed. The owner is also very accessible and quick to respond to questions or concerns. We can’t wait to come back to Montebello!

La casa es divina, súper cómoda y con calor de hogar, las puestas de sol sobre la Laguna son indescriptibles, estuvimos recientemente con otras 4 familias y lo pasamos maravilloso, Magdalena y Alejandro son dos seres excepcionales súper amables y siempre cordiales tratando de hacer que nos sintamos como en nuestra casa. Amazing!

We spent a long weekend and enjoyed very much!!! The house is roomy and well-equipped. The view and the park are just splendid and it really feels like home. It is a place so peaceful that you may stay for hours just staring at the water. For sure we would love to visit again!!!

Un sueño!

Un sueño!

La casa es un sueño en todo sentido. Es una casa con alma, vivida y disfrutada, uno se siente privilegiado de poder quedarse en ella. Los espacios son amplios y cómodos y la vista a la laguna del sauce es espectacular. Romain nos tuvo mucha paciencia en la previa ya que no confirmamos por problemas logísticos hasta dos días antes y los caseros Alejandro y Magdalena fueron muy amables ya que fuimos en pleno invierno y nos prepararon la casa con estufa y abrigo de cama para 16 personas estuvieran calentaras. Gracias de parte de toda la familia.

We had a large group of friends down over the New Years at Montebello and couldn't have been happier. Romain was a delight to work with over email and the help on property was attentive and always available to help, with anything from getting more firewood, to doing grocery runs. The property is beautifully located on the lake and has a massive yard, great for volleyball, badminton, football, and a great infinity pool that overlooks the lake. The home is perfect for entertaining large groups (massive outdoor parilla - bbq and dining table) and families and I would recommend it to anyone going down. The only point is that you must have your transportation figured out beforehand either with a private driver or rental car as it is not quite on a major route. Overall, I look forward to having the opportunity of returning to Montebello in the future!

La mejor experiencia que hemos vivido en alquilar una casa es Montebello. Pero no es solo el lugar el cual es increible es el cariño de Alejandro y su esposa los que dia a dia hacen que la estadia sea perfecta. Muchos de los que fuimos quedamos enamorados de ese lugar y sus comodidades. Pasamos unos dias maravillosos rodeados de la familia; sin dudas lo mejor de Punta del Este es Montebello.

Vivimos unas vacaciones espectaculares en esta casa que esta preparada para pasarla de lo mejor. La casa es un sueño, bien equipada y comodisima con el plus de la presencia de los caseros que nos atendieron de primera. El entorno es increíble con un parque extenso y lindisimo, y la vista hacia la laguna es imperdible. Es un lugar donde se descansa a pleno, no vemos la hora de regresar.

Alquilamos la casa para un fin de semana largo entre familias amigas. Eramos varios adultos y niños y todos pasamos de película. La casa es muy cómoda, con varios ambientes y para todos los gustos. Está perfectamente mantenida, con mucho gusto, detalles y prolijidad. Cuenta con todo para que uno no tenga que preocuparse por nada. El paisaje es absolutamente encantador y con mucha paz. Y Alejandro el casero, en todo momento está a la orden para lo que puedas necesitar. Fue una gran experiencia, de las que quedan en el mejor recuerdo de todos los que pudimos vivirla. Volveremos!

Montebello is not a house, is a home. We spend the most amazing four days with my whole family (12). The house is of course beautiful, the pool, the grill, the kitchen, every bedroom with it's own magic, the dining and family room, every square foot is wortg the stay. However, the most incredible thing about this particular place, it's how it make you feel the minute you walk out the back door to see the trees with the lake in the background. The morning breeze, the spectacular sunsets behind the lake, the sun light making it's way through the trees. Every single detail is one more gold star for this home. It's a place where memories come alive, where you won't have a vacation, you'll have an experience for a lifetime. It's a pace to remember, it's a place that we'll never forget, and we sure will come back soon.

Located halfway between Montevideo and Punta Del Este, this fantastic villa is the ideal place to spend some lazy and peaceful time with family, kids and/or friends, far away from urban madness. You will spend your time between the inside confort of the villa and the volupty of the garden. Morning in Punta Del Este, afternoon in the swiming pool, diner outside sharing "el asado". Here you will really experience what vacations mean. I love it. You will too, for sure. Just book it.

"Unforgettable stay in a little paradise!"

We loved our stay in Uruguay and at Montebello. It all started as we drove from Montevideo airport, about 1 hour drive from the property. We were immediately taken by the beautiful and exotic landscape of Uruguay, offering large stretches of empty spaces and softly undulating hills. Montebello is nothing short of splendid property. It is nestled in a secluded and exclusive area on the shores of one of the largest laguna in Uruguay, a few kilometers from the ocean and from Punta del Este. As we passed the entry gate, the first encounter was the large and beautifully landscaped park, full of local and european species giving us a sense of both exotism and home at the same time. The sound of the local birds resonating in this calm natural environment finished to transport us to this far side of the world we had just traveled to. The villa is spacious, tastefully decorated and very well maintained. The layout with two connected yet independent quarters ensures that everyone can find space and tranquility. Magdalena and Alessandro, the caseros of the property, were devoted and efficient in their service, proud to show off the house and the park they work all year long to maintain. Magdalena’s traditional uruguayan dishes and Alessandro’s assados a la parilla, served under the beautiful outside Pergola, were a delight! While it was easy to forget about the outside world at Montebello, nearby Punta Ballena and Solanas beach was the perfect place for us to take long relaxing walks at sunset. We drove beyond the Punta del Este and Maldonado surroundings to nearby province of Rocha, where we discovered beautiful and unique natural fauna and flora setting. Uruguay was a just a gift that kept on giving! But still, we were glad to drive back to our Montebello paradise, safe and away from it all, where life slows down to enjoy every single moment with friends and family in a unique setting.
