About this cottage rental

Welcome to Wombat Forest Country Retreat!
A comfortable and modern country retreat on a rural property. Large, light and airy open living space with views out over farmland, forest and water. The Retreat has a fully equipped, spacious kitchen and covered back deck with outdoor furniture. The Retreat provides 1 bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. There is an additional king-size day bed in the lounge, so up to 4 people can be accommodated, all sharing the single ensuite bathroom.
The Retreat is attached to the main building, it has separate guest driveway, parking and a private entrance. There are no shared internal areas. There is a large grassy backyard which backs on to 3 acres of magnificent trees and ponds that you are free to explore. We do however ask that guests do not enter the adjoining market gardens without permission.
There is a flat screen TV with free-to-air channels and a variety of DVDs, books and board games to keep you entertained. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can make yourself a hearty breakfast or a home-cooked dinner. You can also buy a box of the freshest veggies straight from our market garden!
The Retreat is nestled in Trentham East - an idyllic rural setting between the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Springs surrounded by farm lands and bordering the Wombat State Forest. Open green pastures, towering forests and wonderful country lanes abound.

Hosts were very accommodating, unit is very clean, comfy and well equipped. Having a high chair and a cot was very helpful, place is a perfect size for a young family to spend a couple of days.

The whole experience was pleasant. The layout of the house was really cosy and warm. The house was well stocked with plenty of essentials. Sibastian was very friendly. Such a great local environment with a farm and cows in the distance. Would come back again!

The property is about 8 km out of Trentham in a very quiet setting. Big picture windows bring the outside in, even in bad weather as we experienced. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Photos are accurate. We would recommend to anyone looking for a break from the city for a few days. Thanks for everything

Had the best stay. The hosts were so welcoming and accomodating for all needs. I was there for 4 weeks of university placement and they made my stay very comfortable. It had everything I needed. Highly recommend for any stay. Thanks heaps guys!

A perfect base for our trips to Trentham, Wood End, Kyneton and various wineries. The house was immaculately clean and very well equipped. The bed was extremely comfortable and the living area even nicer than it looked in the photos. So good to look out at the beautiful garden and catch the sunset.

We recently stayed for the weekend with our 6 year old son and were very impressed with the accommodation, location and our hosts! The house had all the facilities we needed, was very comfortable and clean and was only a short drive to Trentham for dinner. The property itself was beautiful with lots of wonderful birdlife. Thank you for a very relaxing stay and would highly recommend this to others!

Such a beautiful area. So peaceful and quiet. Wonderful host. David was very easy to communicate with and very helpful. The house was very clean and had everything, literally every thing we needed. Very well set up and organised. Fully equipped kitchen. Everything was labeled and easy to find. We enjoyed the day bed with amazing views specially the sunset and the fireplace was an extra bonus to make our stay more cozy. We definitely recommend this place and will looking forward to come back there again.

We stayed here for a weekend in June 2019 - very well-equipped kitchen (full oven and dishwasher); plentiful supply of firewood ready and waiting inside for the very efficient wood heater (which in a nice touch had been lit before we arrived); plenty of options for sitting in comfy chairs, couches and at the large dining table and great views to the 8 acres of veggie patches and bush. It's an easy 2k walk to the Pig and Whistle. Be aware though that the Stayz map is inaccurate so make sure you check the street address. We'd have no hesitation in returning to enjoy more of David and Sibastian's hospitality.

Lovely setting with picturesque sunsets and surrounded by trees and garden. Say hi to the echidna as you stroll around the spacious property, breathing in the fresh air and leaving the rat race behind for a few days. Short car trip to Trentham township. Would highly recommend this property to stay.

Our hosts, Sibastian and David, went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed to make our four nights pleasant and comfortable. The country location offers birdsong, beautiful gardens, and easy access up the road to either Trentham or Lyonville. Comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, large lounge, even a great selection of DVDs! Enjoyable stay!
