We've rented in Niantic for the past 7 years and this home was by far the best we've been in. Clean, comfortable and there wasn't 1 thing I needed that wasn't provided. Kevin was wonderful to work with and responded quickly to any questions or needs.

Cozy house that has summer cottage vibes. Owner was great to work with, house was very clean

Cute little house tucked away at Giant Neck Beach area in Niantic CT. With a few minute walk you can be at the private beach area. House was clean, overall a positive 1st time experience with renting a house on VRBO. The only negative would be no linens included as it was just a pain to pack bed sheets and towels in our luggage as it added weight to our checked bags since we were traveling by air. But if we ever travel by car packing linens wouldn't be such a headache I would come back to this house as it was perfect for what we needed.

This is our second year to rent the beach cottage. Our three week stay was perfect! Kevin is great to communicate with! We can’t say enough about the house, the kitchen has everything you need, the washer and dryer are outstanding. Each bedroom has its own window unit that keeps the whole house cool even in 90 degree weather. The large porch with seating and a table and chairs with umbrella is a perfect place to enjoy the view of the ocean and hang out with friends. We loved the outdoor shower and the fact that there are 11/2 baths was so convenient as we had three girls and two adults.
This is an amazing beach community with two beach’s that are extremely short walks. Everyone is so kind and welcoming!
Book your stay today you definitely will not be disappointed!

Fully equipped, bedroom A/C does cool entire house even when it's 90 degrees, short walk to the beach, recent upgrades improved interior appearance, property manager responded quickly to questions, queen bedroom has own bathroom

We've rented for maybe 4 yrs now from Kevin and continue to go back each year. THe cottage had some new upgrades this year like new paint, flooring and bathroom vanities and toilets. The location is perfect for young kids because you can walk to at least 3 beaches that are all fun and different. The outdoor shower is awesome and the BIG new TV was an awesome surprise. My only issue was the very bright back room where we slept, would love some more coverage or darker shades since the sun comes up there. Kevin is fantastic and always responsive. Thank you for a great stay!

Home away from home.
Perfect for the two of us and three grandchildren. All the comforts of home. Very friendly neighborhood. Quite close to state park beach -- even for the 4 year old to walk. Outdoor shower and laundry were a very pleasant extra for a beach rental. Thanks, Kevin. You are very pleasant to work with, and your house is quite comfortable.

College graduation and special birthday celebration
Provided plenty of room and amenities for all of us. Enjoyed many walks around neighborhood and beach. Great washing machine! Did have the closed up smell; just needed few days of opening windows.

We enjoyed the flow of the house and the rooms set-up. It was very comfortable for the ten days we stayed.

Nice family rental with several beach options
Check in was in person which doesn't happen very often with rental, but was appreciated. Just ensure you coordinate your arrival time. Communication was good and easy. Rental was clean and much more spacious then expected. It had most things you could need except the sheets, pillows and towels that you have to provide. The front double bedroom is the converted porch which is great, we just couldn't put our 2 year old in there because of the brightness in the morning (if we wanted the extra sleep at least!). The kitchen and living area are great. We downsized our beach rental this year and it didn't even feel that way with this rental.
2 small association beaches were nice, a little rocky, small rocks at one, larger rocks at another. We visited them on short walks but spent our beach days at Rocky Neck state park, just another short 5-7 minute walk away. You have to walk a few yards down a road without a shoulder but we still felt safe. The provided wagon and chairs were perfect and our daughter loved the outdoor shower. Nice walks around the area and past the duck pond. Spent an hour at the small association playground.
Lots of restaurants within easy driving distance. Highly recommend The Spice Club, Deke's Bagels, and Rebeka's Fresh Pasta. Must stop at the Book Barn. Mystic Aquarium never disappoints. Children's Museum of Southeastern CT was a fun 90 minutes for our daughter.
Highly recommend!

Staycation in CT
The pictures are exactly what you get. My husband and friends so much enjoyed the house in September. You are close to the private beach and can walk over to the Rocky Neck State Park/Beach. After a day at the beach, we sat on the deck having snacks, relaxing. It was beautiful. Home is well equipped with all your home needs.

Great summer/covid-19 getaway
Great location in safe/quiet/friendly neighborhood: Property is just 5 min walk to Rocky Neck state beach. We biked, hiked, catch hermit crabs at low tides, etc., while keeping safe distance. It is also within short drive to Hammonasset beach, Mystic (Sift Bake Shop, Sea Well seafood) , Bluff Point state park, Avery point (sunset), and more!
Great host: Kevin met with us during check-in. We settled in immediately with all the useful information he provided. He is also very responsive for the couple of times we texted him.
Description/photo of the property is accurate as depicted. The outdoor shower was especially convenient after beach.

Fantastic rental
Kevin's home has everything you need and the perfect location. Super 4 min walk to the beaches. The outdoor shower and new fridge and grill are the best, plus the AC units makes sleeping easy. We are repeat renters and always feel like home here. The deck and view are my favorites. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the property. It was exactly what we were looking for. I would definitely recommend this property!! Wonderful host.

Nice quiet neighborhood with two beaches within walking distance. Both beaches are rather rocky, so we would recommend water shoes to protect your feet. Once you get past the rocks it's ok. The state park next door also has a beach that lacks the rocks if you prefer (there is a parking fee for out of state visitors). The house itself was very comfortable with plenty of spots for relaxing, inside or out on the deck (we found ourselves warming ourselves there in the morning sun). It is well equipped in the kitchen as well. The location is excellent. It is central to most attractions we wanted (Essex steam train and Mystic aquarium are a half hour away each) Downtown Niantic is a five minute drive. Both the Book Barn and Gumdrops and Lollipops ice cream stores are there. The ice cream is homemade in store and well worth a visit (we went three times during our weeklong stay)The owner Kevin was very helpful and filled us in on the basics when we arrived and gladly answered a question we had via phone after he left.Overall it was a nice quiet get away with easy access to various attractions and places to eat.

Great location
This was our 2nd year renting here and we love it. The location is fantastic and the owners are super nice. There are a few updates needed in the home but for a summer cottage it's fantastic. It has a fantastic view, great outdoor shower and deck and a big spacious kitchen and eating area. We love being able to use the beach cart also. Enjoy!

Awesome Beach Cottage!!
We had a great time, the beach was perfect for our 8 year old! The house is impeccably clean! The kitchen had everything we could have imagined! We grilled every night and sat on the wonderful deck!! We will definitely be back to this house and amazing beach community!!

Great location!
We greatly enjoyed staying here in June. The cottage was an easy walk to the beach and duck pond and clubhouse. The view was by far the best and the deck was great. Spacious kitchen and living space and awesome out door shower. A few things needing fixing which was disappointing. And the kitchen could have been "stocked" a bit better with a few basic items. It was great to have a beach cart and chairs available to us as well as the grill. We would surely stay again.

the best vacation destination with kids
House is very clean, comfortable, accessible and has a lot of amenities. Everything works well. New mattresses are very comfortable. even though, the house does not have an AC, fans are sufficient and provide a lot of fresh air. New large washer, outside shower, outside deck, gas grill, kids vagon, beach chairs and the umbrella are all adding up to the comfort and enjoyment.
The beach is simply the best for the kids and older adults. About 3 minutes of walking, crossing a very small local road, few flights of steps down. Water is shallow with a very gradual decline, clean, warm, waves free - absolutely ideal for the kids (please bring the water shoes as there are few rocks for the first 10 ft when entering the water - very soft sand after the rocks end - pleasant).
The owner is a very nicest guy, who spent the right amount of time with us describing the house and suggesting on the things to do. Kevin answered all of the questions and was very helpful. The state park has a lot of trails and many available picnic/bbq areas is within a short walking distance. One of the best vacations we've had and we have been to very many similar places. Thank you, Roche family, for sharing your house with us.

Wonderful place for a family with small kids
If you’re a family with small kids, this is the perfect place for you!
The house is well-furnished, well-stocked, and well-maintained. It is not large, but had sufficient space for 3 adults and 3 kids to spread out. The backyard is large, there is a swing in the front, which my boys loved! The deck has 2 tables which we used for kids and adults menu. The owner provided a wagon, 5 beach chairs and 2 umbrellas.
There is a short walk from the house to 2 beaches and a playground. The community is very quiet and family-friendly. The beaches are small with almost no waves and flat profile – perfect for the little ones.
The village of Niantic is within 10-15 minutes drive with ice cream parlors, a movie theater, tiny children’s museum, Book Barn – a used bookstore/attraction we frequented in the evenings, and restaurants.
Other local attractions are within 40 minutes ride are Mystic, New London (don’t miss lighthouse cruise), submarine base in Groton, steam train in Essex, trolley museum in Hartford and lighthouse in Stonington.
Overall, we had wonderful time, and my kids voted the place the best summer destination so far!

Clean, well-maintained home in a great location.
We had a great week staying here. The house was clean and we had plenty of room (we had 4 adults and 2 kids with us). Nice yard and deck (the kids had a great time on the swing!) and an easy walk to many beaches! We can't wait to come back next year.

Great Week!!
We had a great week in this beautiful, clean cottage. Just about 3 minute walk to a clean private beach. We cooked in most nights and enjoyed the large kitchen immensely. I would definitely go back to this cottage for another week next year. I enjoy sitting around and reading, if you are looking for lots to do outside the cottage and the beach, this is probably not the place for you. Overall I would highly recommend this cottage for a quiet relaxing vacation.

Like staying with a friend
My family and I spent a week here in July, 2011. There were five adults and two 18-month-olds. The house was great, roomy and sunny, and spotlessly clean. We had dinner on the deck every night and made good use of both the gas and charcoal grills. We loved that the house has a washer and dryer, especially since we were there with little ones. The outdoor shower was great, too. We spent most of our time at the "sand bar beach" where the water was calm enough for the little ones to play. It was never crowded and we enjoyed every minute of it. We took a couple of trips, one into Niantic to walk on the boardwalk and check out some shops and restaurants, and another to Saybrook to visit the farmer's market and shops there. We even managed to squeeze in a trip to the Westbrook shopping center. We took walks around the neighborhood every day AND we were the Ice Cream Man's best customers!! This was the perfect place for my family and I to enjoy some wonderful, relaxing time together.
