About this house rental
Villa Azteca is perfect for families or groups who want a home away from home with all the necessities and amenities for long or short term rentals. Nestled among 1.5 acres of expansive, tropical, manicured gardens with it´s own private walled garden, this spacious, one level 1,750 home shares a newly renovated 40 ft. heated pool with Venetian cobalt-blue tiles and pool house with seven other private vintage Mexican Colonial-style houses in an exclusive and secure gated community, into it's 3rd generation of family owners, Villas Bellavista.
Villa Azteca is fully furnished and decorated with original artwork, folk art and Mexican textiles. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath large home with cathedral ceilings has a walkway from the living room leading to the second bedroom which lends complete privacy between the bedrooms, each with ensuite private tile bathrooms with natural herbal soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Luxurious cotton bath, hand and face towels are provided as too hair dryers. There are two double beds in each bedroom, cedar bureaus, bed tables and handwoven pillows and rugs. There are walk-in closets in each bedroom with extra blankets, hangers, iron, ironing board and fans. Two terraces, one enclosed for alfresco dining, extend from the carved wooden French doors leading to the living & dining areas. In the living room there is a 18th century wagon wheel as a coffee table, a Netflix smart 32" TV, dining table with chairs and living room sofa set. There is a large, fully equipped tiled kitchen that looks out over the private, front garden with fruit trees.
Villa Azteca is centrally located within walking distance of excellent Spanish language schools such as The Spanish Language Institute (SLI), ChacMol, The Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies or UNINTER, and IDEAL.
Research institutes such as the INSP or Instituto Nacional para la Salud Publica, UNAM, CRIM and the Instituto de Investigaciones Electricas are easily accesible.
The Botichelli Institute of Florence, Italy gives classes for Restoration painting, drawing and Art History and is located across the street housed in an estate.
Within one block on Ave. Emiliano Zapata, the major avenue for Cuernavaca, there are numerous banks with ATMs, supermarkets, convenience stores, galleries, shops, bakeries, great restaurants, fast-food take-outs, public transport etc. A radio taxi stand is 1/2 block from the villas and charge around $2 USD. This place was very clean. Had everything needed for our stay. The only thing I didn’t like was the use of so many keys. One key for every door which we had to lock and unlock at least 5. A lot of noise from the streets which I don’t mind. Very nice surroundings to relax if needed. Safe and central. I do recommend. Nice and spacious too!

Las habitaciones muy amplias y comidas. Pudimos descansar, cocinar y disfrutar del clima de Cuernavaca. Solo nos hubiera gustado que la alberca estuviera más caliente. Gracias Cristina y Robert

The property is immaculately maintained with beautiful gardens and houses with original character. We felt very safe and isolated and almost had the place to ourselves. The pool is great for little and big kids alike and the owners were kind and generous. Thanks for the lovely stay!

This is a follow-up to my one-word review of "wonderful," because I had some technical difficulties with this website's "feedback" process.
I love the Villas of Bellavista; in late 2012, I stayed for one week in one of the 1-bedroom bungalows at this 8-bungalow complex. In late 2013, I returned for a 5-week stay in Azteca, the 2-bedroom bungalow. That alone should tell you that I found the place to be excellent - cozy, comfy, authentic 1940s bungalows around a pool. The complex is surrounded by safety walls and gates that are always locked - I felt very safe here, even though, on this trip, I happened to be travelling solo. I also felt very safe in the general neighborhood and did not hesitate to walk around alone - even after dark. (But don't be foolish - stick to well-lit areas.)
The Villas are close to all sorts of conveniences (stores, markets, restaurants, etc). It's a safe and easy walk to a major avenue with public buses running every few minutes all day long. Downtown is an easy 10-15 minute bus ride (well, with the occasional grid-lock when you actually get within a few blocks of the Zocalo - best to hop off and walk the last 2-3 blocks...) There is always something going on downtown! The general location of the Villas in the Bellavista neighborhood of Cuernavaca is also a very convenient "jumping-off" place to visit other nearby areas - e.g., Tepotzlan, a wonderful village about 12-15 miles north-east of Cuernavaca.
The hosts here are the best - "children of the Sixties," my all-time favorite generation. Two very special people who are now joined by their daughter in running the business that the host's father started in the 1940s. This place is not a gaudy tourist trap, there are no nearby beaches filled with annoying tourists; other than some pretty decent modern appliances in the fully-equipped kitchens, there's nothing "modern" or "cookie-cutter" about it - just cozy, comfy, and down-to-earth; my home away from home in a very "real" section of Cuernavaca.
