The hotel staff were lovely and the room and the pool were beautiful. My partner and son really enjoyed the golf
No kettle / coffee / tea in the room
No cocktails
No one regularly coming to the pool to offer drinks, we had to prompt them

Excellent location with nice views on the Rio Real golf course. Very spacious room. Cosy pool with fountains. Good restaurant.
The restaurant was too hot for lunch as there was no airco or cooler areas.

The golf course is beautiful. We stayed in December and luckily got a day with really nice weather. Very well organised and easy. With the staff, nothing was a problem. Anything we asked about they knew exactly how to help, we didn’t even have to tell them what room we were in they had everything ready. Beautiful hotel in a great location with an amazing golf course. The views were unreal, you could see the mountains the sea and beautiful greenery. We are coming back for sure!!

The golf course was amazing. Staff was super helpful. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped.
No room service (for food) except for if someone was sick. Food was ok, but a little limited.

Super relaxing and quiet. Lovely rooms.
Needed a few more staff. Difficult to get ice in the middle of the day and pool bar/snacks not open until 1400.

If you are a golfer this is one of the best locations you can choose. Friendly staff, rooms were clean and very large. Golf course in the pristine condition with amazing views.
The variety of food available for breakfast - very small amount of choices. However a la carte menu for the other meals meet my expectations. Driving range was locate across the street - 8 min walk from the hotel area.

Breakfast was fine - food in the restaurant was good too. The overall facilities are perfect for a couple a small pool with massage etc..

Size of room. Good lighting. Helpful receptionist.
Restaurant / Bar closed at 21h. Breakfast staff was not very helpful. Shower needs new washers.

Beautiful location, great breakfast, good size room.
Our stay at Rio Real turned out to a mighty disaster. My silky nightgown was stolen from the room (possible taken accidentally by the cleaner when making up our bed). The Hotel Management offered to reduce the total bill by 100 euros (LOL) - my nightgown was a La Perla worth 600 euros. In the end they did not cover any cost of the stolen item.
Earlier the same week we ordering some MOET Champagne to the room, right in the morning (it was my husbands birthday). We had one glass each, left the bottle in the Champagne cooler, and went for some breakfast. When coming back to the room some 30 minutes later the bottle was gone! The cleaner had "cleaned out" the almost full bottle from our room.
Yet another morning when returning to our room from breakfast, the lock was changed (our room was the only one with a new lock!). We headed to the reception and asked what had happend and they simply gave us another type of keys for the new lock - no explanation, no excuse.
These are the things you would not expect in a Hotel of this standard, and sadly enough it left us with a bad aftertaste.
As the setting of the Hotel is stunning, it is truly sad that the staff won´t live up to the same level as for the food, the room and the location.

the property was located some distance from any amenities, which is not a problem. However, we arrived at 8:10pm as expected only to be told the kitchen closed at 8:30pm. So we were basically in a hotel with no amenities from 8:30pm until breakfast next day.

Small, quiet, friendly hotel. Rooms were very good. Breakfast was good. Breakfast available from 8-11 am. Very pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very helpful.
The bar and restaurant shut at 9pm. The pool isn’t heated. They could do with a better coffee machine. The coffee was great but there were only two dispensers and they were very slow. Fine when the restaurant was quiet but not ideal when it was busier.

Hotel was very good! Very good and QUIET location. Big and comfortable beds. We had a free upgrade for a bigger room.
The hotel is not a new one, but it's still in a perfect condition

Great place to find quietness and calmness to disconnect from the rest of the world. Even though we didn't play golf, it was worth the visit to enjoy the open spaces, the comfort of the facilities and the relaxing environment of the hotel, golf club and the area around.
There were certain limitations due to the anti-Covid restrictions, such as the lack of dinner service, super limited room service) or the unavailability of most spa services (only massages, and they were great), but they were all perfectly understandable and not much of an issue. Moreover, the staff went out of their way to help us and give us options in anything we need.
The restaurant had a limited menu but it was pretty decent food quality. Worked well to eat something simple but good without needing to leave the premises. Plenty of excellent restaurants in the area (Marbella, Puerto Banús and Puerto Romano are just minutes away by car - Uber is available - and Fuengirola is not far away). Once back to normal, it looked like the restaurant could be another bonus.
We ended up taking the initiation golf course and I can only recommend it. It was fun, with a super nice instructor, and got us interested in the game. Players around the hotel spoke highly of the golf course. For beginners, the hotel is always happy to lend you a club and some balls you can use in the practice areas of the course, to practice or just for fun.
The swimming pool is pretty nice. More of a quiet place to take a swim and relax under the sun (tons of space for that around the pool to read, sunbath or enjoy a drink), than a bigger, more festive pool area, which fits much better with the relaxing atmosphere there.
The room was cozy and comfortable, with a great bathroom and plenty of natural light. The terrace, with golf course view, was great.
Pets are allowed. Great if you like them, not a disturbance if you don't.
Most guests were golf players, but there were also couples and families with kids.
Hard to find bad things about the place, but just for the sake of telling the whole story:
- Beds were not comfortable, although that might be more of a personal preference. Too hard and 'tensed', as you could feel the springs in your back at times.
- Bathroom amenities could have been a bit better.
