The restaurant was excellent however rooms old fashioned not redone since ages and quite shabby
Checking out took 20 minutes since they tried to double charge as for breakfast and extra Corona cost that was not mentioned during booking

The surrounding park is beautiful
The room was very small and basic, more what I would expect from a B&B than a 5 star Hotel. Furniture is basic and dated, there is no minibar in the rooms. The hotel has very limited food offerings during the week and there is no bar in the hotel. The Spa area is vey run down, especially the Sauna. Room service is only available for breakfast and was charged a EUR50 extra service fee on top of the cost of breakfast. Eisenach is effectively 30 car minutes away, there is no public transport.

The service at the hotel restaurant was the worst of my life, 1:30 wait for the starters, we were never offered drinks, the waiters tried to avoid eye contact at all cost, I think they were very busy taking care of the restaurant next door. At some point we changed tables to be more visible and be able to eat. At the coffee area we were attacked by chickens.

The hotel Hohenhaus management is turning the hotel into a modern estate with best in class service and excellent cuisine. The staff is 120% committed to the visitors satisfaction. The 'old' rooms are still old fashioned but the hotel is renovating the 'castle' in high modern and minimalistic rooms. This will be amazing. And what to say about the 3600ha nature belonging to the hotel. A clear recommendation - we will go again.
The wifi in the rooms was not good - and the 'old' rooms are still old fashioned - looking forawrd to the renovation of the 'castle'
