Family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children: 4, 7, 8 yo); a full apartment with sea view (6th floor - 612); breakfast and lunch included; stayed between 03-13 july 2023:
- Staff
- Sufficient food and overall delicious; very good coffee; cold beers at lunch included
- Amazing view from the hall and from our room. We had a balcony accesible from both rooms of the apartment
- Generous kids play area at the hotel lobby included in the price
- Very spacious apartment room: one bedroom, a living room with a pull-out couch, very spacious bathroom and a dressing room furnished for your clothes
- Very good position of the hotel with just a flight of stairs to go down until you're on the beach (at the exterior of the hotel)
- AC in both rooms of the apartment
- the hotel's beach was small and not that visited (a good thing for someone with 3 kids)
- swimming pool included in the final price, although i can't give a review of it because we never went
- if you were to bring water or food from a local convenience store with you the staff would turn a blind eye
- although it is stated that parking spaces are subject to availability, we never managed to find a parking space (don't worry, you can park relatively close to the hotel on the streets with no major risk of breakins or fines from police
- the bathroom was horendous and unhygienic;
- the frequency and quality of the towel and furnishings changing was substandard
- same breakfast everyday; absolutely no diversity from day to day;
- very little diversity at lunch as well: 2 types of meat, 2 types of garnish that rotate every day, but there are only 4 combinations; no coffee available at lunch; very little vegetarian and vegan options
- the beach was further away from the hotel than the photos lead you to believe; the beach itself wasn't clean and maintained - it was full of boulders and rocks, shells and algeae; if you want to stay on the beach, the chairs weren't included in the price of the room, you have to pay separately
- the water associated with the hotel's beach was very shallow (no more than 150 cm deep) for the whole duration of the small gulf; for our children was great, but for an adult, especially if you would want to swim, it was very shallow (and full of rocks on the seabed at the entrance)
- WiFi wasn't working in the room almost at all (very weak signal)
- the balcony was small and a safety hazard for children (it had huge openings close to the ground and no protection at all; due to the position of the apartment, you are very visible to other rooms on the same floor if they are at the balcony)
- the door to the balcony was broken (the one from the bedroom): it didn't close properly all the way which led to noise and heat getting in very easily and you couldn't open it all the way and so you'd have to squeeze to get out on the balcony
- very little soap, body wash and shampoo available given the size of the room
- the fridge smelled weird and didn't cool enough so we wound up not using it

The furniture in the room was brand new.
The air conditioning didn’t work. We talked with reception and they said it would be fixed that same day. They only sent a team the following day which refilled the coolant. Unfortunately the unit was so old that it blew cold air for 10 minutes and then started blowing normal temperature air again.
The temperature of water in the shower was not constant and fluctuated between very hot and very cold.
The toilet didn’t flush properly.
The floor in the room was dirty and overall cleanliness was lacking.

The hotel wasn’t yef fully renovated

Lobby, rooms (small, but cozy) and restaurant looks good and functional. Decent food. Best grade for the staff - friendly, helpful and flexible.
Exterior not only obsolete, but almost ruin. More staff needed in reception during rush hours. More air contioning needed in restaurant and lobby.

Food , beds rooms everything!

good & quiet location, pleasant food, friendly staff
Rocky unwelcoming beaches nearby, no benches to sit by the sea.
Small parking area.

The room was clean and the beds ok, good internet connection
I arrived at 3:30AM in the morning with my wife and 2 moths baby and the guard from the parking spot was very rude, drunk and I had to go at the check-in staff at the hotel to manage to park my car because I had no understanding from the parking guard. Very upset about this, I was tired at 3:30AM in the morning and it take me 1 hour to manage to park my car because of a drunk employee. I will not visit again OPAL Hotel just because of this experience!

Everything was great! The staff was amiable. The food was tasty and well diversified (breakfast was the same in all the days, but with great choices of food and the lunch was different in each day). The rooms were clean and had a nice view to the sea.
The beach nearby hotel was full of rocks and algae, but at around 10 mins of walking we found a nice one.
3.8
Big rooms, big bed, nice playground opposite the parking, nice kids club
The cleaning was a 7 at most. The mattress was uncomfortable. The baby bed had no mattress, just some bed spreads tucked in. The mosquito net was broken and ended up falling down. Mold in the bathroom.
The food was mediocre at best. No real options, pretty grease and definitely not baby friendly. 100 lei early check-in charge, 60 lei for a grown-up to go to lunch during the first day, even though you check-in before 2 pm, 40 lei for a kid.
There is no beach usable close to the hotel, you had to walk for at least 10 minutes.

The bathroom was not the same as was presented in photos on booking.

The staff was very nice.
The room itself, including the bathroom, was nice, seemed recently renovated.
However, finishing touches were missing. Looked like they forgot to cover the repairs and to repaint.
Seaview: indeed you could see the sea, but you also had to ignore the restaurant and pool which were between the back of the hotel and the sea. So don't expect the sea in your "balcony".
The food was ok, not the best tasting, but you also didn't go hungry
Exterior of the hotel really needs a facelift. From outside it looked like a 2 star hotel.
The inside of the hotel, overall, was also very old and not well maintained.
Not so much food variety. And not so well organized. For example 6-7 coffee machines (which was great), but only 1 thermos for milk.
Amenities could be better for price you pay.

The hotel room is big, comfortable bed, big enough for 2 adults and 1 child 4years. The sea vue is beautiful. The beach very clean, probably the only beach without rocks and algae free in the area.
I have stayed almost 2 weeks, they have not cleaned thoroughly the room. Probably they would have done it if requested but this is not the purpose to ask for it.
There is not much to offer for children. Much better organization at Cohotel where children are indeed their first priority. Of Course i have payed for the services but coming from outside the price was big in the end. I suggest partnership with them.
Overall fair good service.

Cleaning services were very poor. The room was dirty when we arrived. Sand was everywhere. The sheets were clean.
The building looks very old on the outside.
3.8
The Hotel itself, the location, also the resort itself. It is nice and cozy.
The bed in the room was quite good, nice size.
Place was not very crowded. There were parking slots available.
Decent atmosphere.
We received the room 702, from the reception desk. We are 2 parents with a 2 year old child. When we arrived at the hotel, we were normally going to take the room, and let the child to sleep for 2 hours. However, when we reached the room, the door was opened to the wall and the room was messy (not cleaned, bed sheets not changed, bathroom not cleaned, etc). We went to reception to tell them this, that the room is not cleaned. They sent 2 people that said that they would clean the room in 10 mins. However, it took them 40. Meanwhile the child would almost fall asleep on the luggage, on the corridor. After 40 mins, we were back to the room, and wanted to prepare the kid for sleep. However, another surprise arised. The door was completely broken, it could not be closed, it could not fit into place. It seems that it was swollen from some pouring water or so. We went back to the reception. Now, they changed the room, and gave us the room 704, which was quite near 702. The new room was ok, clean, fine. Then we let the kid go to sleep. But.....it is not over yet. Within short time, 2 workers came to the nearby room and started to work on the door to fix it!!! This means working with power drills, electric saw, hammer, and so on :) You could not believe it. It was like just now they discovered the respective door. However, in about 2 hours they finished. But... this was our first day. We stayed only 3, but we would not choose this location for longer stays, even if in the past we have done so.

We enjoyed the room, it seemed newly renovated and the cleaning service worked when we asked for the room to be done up.
The view to the sea was lovely and we did not mind the pool from hotel California and the music at night.
We listened to the show on the balcony before bed.
We don’t think it is good value for money. The Opal beach was very small and full of algae. I would have appreciated if it was clean and if beach beds were included in the rate.
The breakfast/lunch situation was a disaster. We showed up when lunch started and had to wait 1 h before getting to food. The staff did their best to refill the food as fast as they could but much more was needed in terms of multiplying the food locations or maybe having a serving already done for people to pick up.
Or having employees to direct the people to alternative places where food is served so there are no bottlenecks. Also cutlery, plates were going out fast. an employee could keep an eye out for that.
The current setup clearly fails.
moreover, the staff was young and untrained. I honestly don’t blame them.

Best place for a wonderful holiday. Very clean, wonderful and helpful staff, and fantastic sea view.
Maybe a bit more variety for breakfast, but overall nothing to complain really.
