I had read some good reviews about this hotel before booking and was pleasantly surprised upon arrival to realise it is a Relais Chateau.
The hotel is located in the west bank, far from the touristic hustle of Luxor city and the incessant vendors that chase tourists on the streets; its location, in my opinion, is a plus. We were happy to switch off for a couple of days before embarking on our cruise. However, if you want quick and easy access to town, this is not the place to go. The hotel offers only two, free shuttles to/fro town per day and for us, it was at inconvenient times; for example to go to the sound and light at night, we would have had to arrange our own transportation. Also, because of its location in the west bank, this hotel misses out on the wonderful sunset views that Luxor has; still it makes up for it in other ways and we were going to enjoy 4 days of sunsets on our cruise.
Moudira is set on spacious and lush grounds, which we truly enjoyed. It has a nice pool with a nice surrounding area. The pool side staff is very welcoming and the chef/maitre d´very accommodating.
We had junior suite 37, which was very spacious, but felt at times like a luxurious prison. It only had small windows to keep the heat out and, I suspect like most rooms, did not have a private outdoor area; this we particularly missed. The furniture in the room, like in the rest of the hotel is Egyptian country style, which is wonderful to look at, but uncomfortable.
The breakfast offered a good selection from the buffet and a la carte. Mainly we opted for the Egyptian a la carte. It was tasty. We had our two lunches by the pool and for dinner, we alternated one night in the oriental, quieter restaurant and the other night in the Ottoman restaurant, which is more international.
The food is average and expensive for Egypt. Prices were only quoted in dollars; very odd. Also, the menu stated that 22% (if not 24%) were added in taxes and other charges. Half of the surcharge, 10-12% is the service charge, which was not stated, was misleading as the bill offered to add a gratuity and, in my opinion, unfair to guests who were already paying a significant and hidden percentage of their expensive meals on tips. I did not register or think of this until I moved to the next hotel where the extra charges were explicit and split out.

Beautiful hotel, clean, comfortable bed
Too far from everything in Luxor (40min aprox), taxis are extremely expensive (40€/each way) so you end up paying a buch in transportation, which due to its location is necessary. Also, BEWARE of scam taxis that want to overcharge you, it is already too expensive to move around there as a tourist and they try to make as much money from you as they possibly could.
Breakfast is overpriced (30€/person). I only had fruit&coffee the first day and they charged me as if I had had the whole buffet (eggs, omelettes, foul medames, toasts, pastries, juices, etc)

A gorgeous luxury hotel with spacious elegant rooms, bathrooms perfect for relaxing after site seeing. The pool, resturant and gift shop made our stay complete perfection.

We were lucky to stay after the departure of a large group, so the first day we had the hotel almost for ourselves, and it felt that we were having a private lunch at the pool, and private dinner at the restaurant. Due to that exclusive atmosphere, lovely grounds, and impeccable service, I would say that this hotel is the best in the Luxor area.
Both restaurants were lovely and elegant, but short of dessert choices. I was glad to see that decaffeinated coffee was available.
Room #16 features that huge shower surrounded and framed by columns
Overall, the hotel is impeccable but isolated. A 2-night stay is just right.
1) This is a very serious request to Management: please replace your shampoo & conditioner with a more reputable brand. I strongly suggest a European brand. My hair became so disgustingly sticky that I had to make an emergency trip to the pharmacy to buy real shampoo and conditioner. After using the purchased shampoo, my hair was smooth and silky again. I just can't believe how BAD the shampoo was! So until then, I advise guests to bring their own hair products.
2) Swimming pool in May was freezing cold.
3) In room: kettle is available on request. Why not leave a kettle in each room without us having to ask for it?
4) Waiters would normally wear an elegant white jacket, except for that one evening when they all had a black T-shirt. It did not look right or appropriate for the style and atmosphere of the hotel.
5) Lovely outdoor lounging area to have a drink right by the restaurant, but we could not stay too long as the lighting was way too bright. I recommend doing something about that to give a comfortable and romantic feel to that area.
6) Massage treatments are exorbitant compared to the rest of Egypt. About 3 times higher. Same price as in the US.
No wonder no one was at the spa!
7) Although I consider this hotel the best in the Luxor area, room rates are definitely inflated.
8) If you prepay the hotel, make sure to make a mental note, as you might be asked to pay again upon check-in.

beautiful hotel. we took our photos every corner in the hotel. We have 2 more people join in and David arranged and upgrade to 2 connecting suite with reasonable price that was so amazing. and he showed us around the property, very patient and helpful.
Hotel was close to tourist attractions - Hot Balloon and temples, valley of kings… very convenient location for us.
David also arrange room service breakfast which is save our time in early morning.
We have a very enjoyable stay.

The hotel felt like we were staying in Cleopatras castle. It is very unique and beautiful. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and very accommodating to all our needs. The rooms were beautiful, huge bathrooms and the bed was very comfortable. I miss this place so much already! The food was great too!!! The dining area is beautiful. Everytime we needed something, or a ride, the staff made sure we were immediately taken care of.
I can't think of one thing that was bad about this resort!

The property is beautiful and very well kept.
The suites are spacious, spotless and nicely decorated.
My wife loved the store at the hotel and bought several items.
Internet was very good throughout the hotel.
The breakfast is excellent, with lots of options. We also had dinner and the food was really good.
A perfect hotel to relax and unwind after a long day touring the area.
We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and booked a fountain suite. Ten days before our arrival we confirmed the fountain suite with the hotel via email.
When we got there they gave us a basic room all the way at the back of the property. When we told them that that was not the room that we booked they said that by mistake they oversold the fountain suites and didn't have any other rooms available. After insisting they moved us from the room to a suite (they mentioned it was reserved for the owner) and on our last night they moved us to the fountain suite that we initially chose. The manager Mr Thomas apologized and gave us the first night and a massage as a courtesy which we appreciated.
The staff in general was courteous but not as welcoming and eager to assist as at the other 4 hotels that we stayed at during our 2 week trip throughout Egypt.
The spa is really not a spa but massage rooms, no relaxation area and no drinks are offered before or after the treatment. The massage room had a lot of sun coming from outside. I also could hear everything from the other room where my wife was having a massage as well. Not very relaxing.
The hotel is located 30 minutes drive from Luxor center, $45 round trip arranged by the hotel. The hotel has a shuttle twice a day but at set hours. We stayed 2 nights so it was ok but for longer stays it might be an issue as there is nothing else around.
Overall a good stay. A beautiful hotel, but there is room for improvement with regards to the service.

Luxurious property, suites are enormous and well-appointed, I felt like a guest at a royal palace. Dining area is a treat for the eyes and the food is fantastic (which is fortunate since the location is so remote).

One of the most gorgeous properties I have ever stayed at.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Bars don't close at a certain time, they close when you are finished.
The rooms are massive. Incredible accomodations, comfortable. Felt honestly like a Mediterranean paradise.
The pool was great, especially in the dessert heat. Food and drinks were also top top notch. Daily specials for dinner, and really fresh fusion cooking. The seabass ceviche was a star. Breakfast was also incredible their selection of cheese and pastries.
Can't recommend this place enough. We got there and never left the property during our stay.
Only two slight negatives. It is not in a central area, which for us is a plus. But if you are looking.to be in the middle of Luxor it is a bit out of the way.
The food while amazing is a little on the pricier side.

The restaurant was excellent, both food and service. The entire hotel is beautiful and the room was exceptionally spacious. The hotel is quite far from Luxor itself but closer to the valley of the kings and queens.

It's a beautiful hotel, but the charges are disgusting. First of all, the room cleaning was charged, without consulting us, and then there was a charge. Finally checked out and paid more than $100 more for these services. I hate this hotel so much now that I tell my Chinese friends on Chinese social media that they are not recommended to come to this hotel.

Amazing hotel that offers unique accommodation and services. The rooms are incredible. The staff is very good.
One thing that can be improved is adding more local dishes on the menu. And one of the evenings we listened to Mozart while dining - I think local music would have been a much better option for the environment.
